Great video bro! The skipping thing is mostly a tire and alignment issue. The tires are very sticky and so hence the skipping and the camber/toe on your alignment comes set up for the race track. This also causes the tires to be tilted and angled in such a way that it’s awkward when turning sharp at slow speeds. Love the blooper reel BTW!
Agree with you to all your 5 thinks I gate about this car, but I would add the front lower bumper extansion it is so low and every time I pull out of my driveway it scrape the bottom of that part.
I'm about to buy a new 2019 Z06. Does the front skip or the rear? If it's the rear could it be a matter of them missing friction modifier in the rear end?
Same wheels and tires on my 2013 427 convertible 60th anniversary. It’s called the Ackerman effect I think. Michelin had a bulletin saying not to run those tires under 30 degrees F I believe. In normal summer temps for summer time high performance tires, which these are, mine has no problems.
I hear you....As I mentioned in the video, I really don't "hate" anything about this car....check out the 5 things i love about this car for a more accurate POV. Nevertheless, if you really want to own one then you will get it when the time is right. I have only owned this car for 5 months but I have to say that i loveeeeee it and its the best car i have ever owned
I purchased a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport one year ago and can identify with the problems you are discussing. I finally got rid of the Michelin tires and replaced them with Continental Non Run Flat tires, What a difference. I carry a flat repair kit and compressor to repair my own flats. Also, I have AAA just in case I need a flat bed haul. But the Continentals are used by Porsche and are supreme to the Michelins. Their side walls are more flexible and there is far less road noise transmitted into the cabin area. I have owned 17 Corvettes over the years and consider myself an expert in regarding Corvettes. This is the best model yet.
Dude, you must be joking. You sound like guys that marry trophy wives and then get mad because men look at her. Dude that is exactly why you got it, stop complaining when you get exactly what you asked for.
First off I got a 2016 Z06 and a 2011 Grandsport. I did not buy, let me repeat I DID NOT BUY THE CAR TO BE SEEN!!! I purchased my Corvettes because I like them, let me repeat BECAUSE I LIKE THEM!!! Your vain ass may think like that. He is telling the truth I always say to own a Corvette is a blessing and a curse. People always gunning their slow as engines especially MOPAR cars. Blazing 903 I understand your point, screw the rest of these guy who run their damn mouth but don't have a clue about what they are talking about.
@@raqt6996 yep..i ve had my 19 grandsport 4 aprox..2 months..love it.. a late model tundra flexed his muscles at me by reving his engine...i gave him a few thumbs DOWN..N TOLD HIM 2 BUY AMER..HE GOT INFURIATED!!!TYPICAL ABNOXIOUS TOYOTA-RIDERS!!
Two of your concerns can be solved by changing the tires. I put Michelin AS3+ all season tires on mine. No more skipping nor stones thrown. Also you can prevent brake dust by changing to ceramic pads.
You may think interior bits are not as good as a Porsche, but they are worlds better than prior Corvette generations. And the money you pay for a Vette is for engine and handling. Nothing in the world comes close to it for the money. One thing Corvette can have are better cup holders though, ask how I know 😂
LOL....I love this car and wouldn't trade it for the world but I agree about the cup holders...LOL, I already have first hand experience with wiping down the mess, LOL
I owned a 99 Boxster and an 08 Cayman, and currently have a 19 Stingray with 2LT package. The interior on the Stingray is better than either of the Porsches. The materials in the Vette are better, the A/C is automatic and the POS "stereo" in the Cayman didn't even steering wheel controls.
The brake dust is because those are high performance brake pads, I have. 2012 grand sport and I have to clean the rims after each drive ( my rims are black so it really shows) it’s something I have learned to just live with. That’s a beautiful car!
Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment. I have also learned to live with it and since I don't mind cleaning the car down every weekend, it works out, LOL
I will look into those, the hopping is really bad when it's cold out but I will try and wait till I have to actually change them before buying new tires......they are expensive, LOL
@Blazing 903 I've installed a set of BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S for the same reason. Although these are not run-flats, the price at Discount Tire was acceptable ($780). Cooper also has a high performance A/S tire as well for about $100 less. Wasn't sure about BF Goodrich until I was told they are a subsidiary of Michelin. 12,000 miles later and no issues (tread wear still good) . Pulling out of driveway and making that slow speed turn drove me crazy. Felt like riding on cobblestone. Cold weather temp issues are no longer as well. Good Luck & Welcome to the Corvette Family.
Welcome to the family Bro. Even when you put the Ceramic Coating you're gonna get brake dust. Your solution is, POWERSTOP ceramic brake pads. I have a black/Black and I got the same brake dust until I changed the pads. I did it myself, because it was extremely easy to too. You remove 2 pins on the caliper, pull the pads out, and push the rotor cups in. I did this by using a screw driver with the old pads. Once you change the pads, you will notice the change right away.
Thank you for watching one of my videos and for posting a comment, I will look into that option for sure. I made a "spin off" of this video that you might want to watch.... ruclips.net/video/3UZPXSoz0kA/видео.html I got so much "hate comments" I thought I had to set the record straight, LOL
The "hopping/skipping" you're referring to is the Ackerman effect. Around a tight turn, the inside and outside tires are traveling at different speeds & distances...it's more noticeable with wide, sticky tires. Engineering Explained on RUclips has a great video on this... Couple other comments; brake dust is the result of pad wearing, it's a fact of life, more noticeable with open wheels... I never noticed the "looseness" of the various control knobs...they are meant to be turned, not grabbed and rocked up & down, left & right, and frankly, I did not notice any movement when you rocked them...
Hey Brother, awesome video haha! There’s definitely 5 things about my car I don’t like but I am sure there’s 5 things about a Lambo I wouldn’t like. I feel like people on RUclips will complain about anything. I wouldn’t worry about people opinions on RUclips. Keep making videos my friend. @@blazing9034 , Beautiful car. ☺ I'm getting a 2019 Grand Sport later this year but I'll get a 7 speed manual. I love rowing the gears and spanking Mustangs. 👍 Did you special order your Vette or did you buy it from dealer? The chrome wheels really makes the wheels pop. Black wheels are boring.
@@williamhorvat8224 Hey William, many congrats on your upcoming purchase.....this should be a fun time for you, researching and checking out the local dealerships. I believe that i got lucky with this car because it was at the dealer and it had everything that I wanted. You may want to check out some of my other videos that speak to how much I paid, the 5 things I love and my most recent video....the 5 things I hate II ruclips.net/video/3UZPXSoz0kA/видео.html I also made a video about Chrome vs Black rims, LOL....both have pros and cons but I LOVE this car, I have owned it for about 4 months now and it's been an amazing experience. I know you will love yours.
The skipping is due to the limited slip differential. I've got a 2019 Z51 Stingray and the owner's manual says not to worry - this is normal due to the eLSD. I've only had skipping when turning at low speeds in a parking lot, so not a problem to me.
Hi Charles, many congrats on your new car! After a couple of months of driving it, I got used to it but I let my brother drive it and he noticed it right away, LOL. It gets pretty cold here so the skipping gets worse in cold weather. Enjoy your new car, it's truly an amazing car!
@Klarent02 It's totally normal but seems to be extreme on the Vette, none of my other sports cars did it this bad but I have read that it's not that bad when you change the tires to all season tires.
So I just got my 2019 Corvette 3 days ago that looks just like yours aside from having chrome rims (I went for the shiny black rims) and I too noticed the break dust but by having several cars for me is a normal amount. It hasn't been a sunny day since I've gotten my Corvette so I haven't truly driven it just from the dealership to The Tint Shop at home. The ride was very comfortable and tight I was truly impressed with the ride in the speed. Like you said every light I came to I got attention or a race!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Good video brother!!!
Get an alignment. The camber on the GS and Z06 is not at 0 and is set for track. It will skip and jump and your tires will wear fast. Have them set them as close to 0 as possible to fix that.
I bought a 3lt Z51 convertible .It has been a blast to drive.Great mileage and good dependable veh.I have 49k miles on it.If I could I would buy a 2020 with the same package.I love it Z51
Another thing you may not be aware of is the vehicle is equipped with summer tires . It is recommended that you not drive on them in temperatures below 40. It was 37 on your temperature gauge. The skipping is magnified by colder temps.
Yes, I found that out the hard way, I quickly noticed that the skipping gets worse the colder it gets. I will be getting all season tires soon but after 6 weeks of ownership.....I don't hate this car, I LOVE it ;o)
@@Ravaniscool Thank you for watching the video and for posting a comment.....I cannot stop driving it, I honestly believe I have an addition to this car ;o) The car is actually doing really good with the Texas "winter"....aside from rain, it's not bad at all. I will check out the video you suggested now; thanks for suggesting that video to me.
@@blazing9034 I'm a huge car enthusiast myself so I understand all your concerns despite the hate comments. You've made an excellent choice with this car and it's definitely a keeper. Take care, my friend!
my base model 2019 C7 with 8 sp auto and selective ride control. The Michelin AS tires are not as sticky and do not do that skipping at parking lot speeds. The stock tires were fine on normal road driving with the selective ride control suspension.
Are you talking about skipping over bumpy corners? That's been happening since the 1985 Z51 handling package, the suspension is too firm. does it have a mag ride? that should help no?
I am in the market for a Grand Sport and I have seen all of your videos, thank you for making them because they really helped me. I am looking forward to being part of the Corvette family in the near future
All of the dust on your wheels is not just brake dust, 50% of it is road dust. When your tires wear out buy tires that are not run flats, much quieter. As far as road noise and debris Wide tires cause that. Beautiful car! Enjoy!!
Hi, thanks for watching the video and for taking the time to post a comment. When you can, watch the video about the "5 things I love" about this car. Cars like this are supposed to be fun and toys for adults to play with so I follow the "rule" of.....if you have to finance it then you cannot afford it.
@@blazing9034 you say "if you have to finance it then you cannot afford it"... I don't understand how people who say that actually build up the cash reserves required to NOT finance the car, because that is foolish financial "wisdom". Plunking 70K lump sum on a rapidly depreciating asset is asinine on several fronts, particularly while common interest rates for top tier borrower are below 4%. Perhaps emphasizing the key phrase "have to".
Thank you for watching my video and for posting a comment. Funny you mentioned the chrome rims because I have gotten so many comments that I made a video about Chrome and Black rims ;o)
Adding to what I posted below: As far as the tires skipping while turning at a low speed, e.g.: in a parking lot, etc, is indeed normal. Summer only tires have a softer compound than all-season tires. It's a Corvette and as such it's designed to handle well, which depends on tire grip. The PS Cup 2 tires on my car are much worse in that regard since the rubber compound is even softer. However, I don't notice if the little rocks they pick up make noise since I keep the exhaust in track mode and the stereo is usually turned up. Btw, when I get home I pick the rocks out of the tires, some of which are embedded and hence flush with the tire surface, so I need to use something sharp and pointed, usually a metal scribe, to get them out. Lastly, since you live in one of my three favorite states: Montana, Wyoming and Texas, you don't need to turn much. ;) So get out and drive it like you stole it! Nevermind the helos, the highway patrol won't be able to catch you anyway. >;} Btw, I live in MT. Oh, and just so ya know, ya can't out run a radio. So keep your eyes open. %-)
great reply, many thanks for the input. At the end of the day, i love this car and couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase it.....and I have also lived in a few states with Texas being top of my list ;o)
@@blazing9034 Yeah, the more performance something has (it doesn't matter what it is) the more quirky it seems to be. People are much the same way which means you're already on another level. ;) Welcome to the club. :D
As a new owner, a few things you need to understand;1) The brake dust is a given with the Stingray Z51, Grand Sport, ZO6 or ZR1 models due to the composition of the brake pads, which are installed on these models to maximize braking performance when/if the owner wants to track the car. There are different compounds of brake pads you can install if you don't track the car that have basically zero dust and are perfectly good for street only use, for around $150 or so.2) The tire pick-up, just the nature of the beast, these tires are for max performance in summer months and are larger than the tires on 90% of the cars on the road today.3) The boy racers, again, nature of the beast. I have a 2019 ZO6 coupe myself, and I get everybody from Hellcats to Camaros to Mustangs to Pickups to Priuses wanting to race me, I just wave them off, I don't street race.4) The ride quality, again, the Corvette isn't built to ride like a luxury car, it's built to perform. That being said, I think with the Mag Ride systems different drive modes you can find a pretty comfortable ride for a vehicle with such high capabilities.5) Interior quality, again subjective. First the competitor to the Grand Sport isn't the Porsche 911, it would be the Boxster/Cayman, the 911 is a much higher price point. Same for the Jaguar, for that extra $20k it SHOULD have better materials, but the Corvette is in no way a"cheaply made" interior, everything is functional, well laid out and attractive, again subjective.6) Attention, either wanted or unwanted, is a fact of life when you own a Corvette, but as long as you drive it in a responsible manner, you won't get any of the unwanted variety. All in all, you have a beautiful Grand Sport, and you will get much enjoyment and positive comments about the car, so good luck and enjoy from another Corvette owner.
I agree with the brake dust issue. I have the same problem and my wheels are black. I'm looking to switch to a different brand and they're like gun metal gray. Heard it helps. And I also get tired of people always wanting to race. It's very annoying. My tires skip as well. I don't notice it too often but it definitely happens. Awesome video!!
Honestly, dude, That is a beautiful car. I get it being an owner of a C5, some stuff was cheaply done; however, as stated in the comments, your paying for the performance. In relation to people wanting to race you, it's a form of respect. Brake dust look is relating to your chrome, dark hides it better like browns and greys hide a dirty car. Count your blessings for having acquired such a beautiful machine.
Thank you for watching the video and for posting a comment. When you can, watch my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this car. BTW: Your comment is well written, not everyone can deliver your message without sounding offensive. I love this car and pretty much mention that in every video that I have posted; even this one when I mentioned "none of these things were deal breakers and this is an amazing car" I believe that a lot of people are not watching the whole video....not that I blame them because it is over 10 minutes but the "message" was missed along the way. It's all good thou and after about 3 months of ownership, I am still all smiles when I get in and I feel blessed that I am able to drive it every day. Drive safely Bro.
Thank you for watching my video and for posting a comment; you are one of the lucky ones but I plan to change out my brake pads soon. Too many things I love about this car for any of the things I mentioned in the video to be a real concern for me ;o)
I was worried initially (5 complaints) as I just recently ordered a 2019 Z06, however your complaints are not of a concern to me. I've been a car guy my whole life and currently have a Mustang Cobra and a new fully loaded ATS Cadillac and I wash them almost daily, so brake dust which also readily appears on those cars is of no concern to me. Heck I even get tons of brake dust on my two motorcycles, but washing my vehicles is relaxing and fun, so again no issue. Racing.....just laugh them off! The radio knob issue might be of a concern to me as well, but I opted for the carbon fibre dash, so limited plastic for me. Skipping with hard cornering at slow speeds can be felt on many vehicles, simply mechanics and physics, again no issue for me. You mentioned the tires picking up debris when travelling on gravel, well again no issue as I won't drive on gravel ha ha. Great video though....and one beautiful Vette. Please bring on the 5 things you like! Cobra
Hi Peter, thank you for the detailed feedback. I enjoy hearing from like minded persons like yourself. I think the grand sport and the zo6 are the same car but the zo6 has the bigger engine... I killed my sport cup 2 tires with inside camber wear, about 10K miles, keep a eye on it , I bought a set of continental tires all 4 for 1300.00 vs. 2200. for the cup 2 tires....they are all season tires so you can drive them in the cold and you dont have that chatter in your tires anymore... you can't drive the cup 2 tires under 35 degrees or lower.... the tire will break apart...the are called summer tires for a reason.. {they are race{track} tires for the heat not the cold} what your feeling is the cold race tire grabbing then slipping when your turning sharp like pulling out of your driveway... Good video though.. Im just trying to help out a new vette owner some things Ived learned....Sweet car though and keep up on the vids
Thank you for watching my video and for posting a comment. I am enjoying being new to the Corvette scene and I will look into the tires you noted above. I already have 5k miles on my tires and I will be getting all season tires soon. Check out my video about the 5 things i love about this car; your response ties into 1 of the 5 things I love about this car.
The tires come toed in to perform better in curves. If you're no taking the car yo a track, you might want to get an alignment as close to zero as you can. Also, mine now has Continentals, which perform well and last a lot longer. Finally, invest in ceramic brakes, but be aware you might have to change more than pads to do it right. Check with dealership. I have a 2016 C.7R ragtop, yellow/black with 10k miles on it--purchased from Corvette World in Dallas. They have only top-quality Vettes on there lots (there and Houston). I had mine shipped to me.
Thanks for watching. I have had too many cars to list but when you can, check out my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this car ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html
LOVE my 2016 Z06. As for Tire Chatter both my 2009 and my 2016 Z06 would do it and has to do with the tire width and the front end geometry. Also if you will read your owners manual on page 273 it states "Tire Chatter/Hop when driving at slow speeds and in very tight turns, the vehicle may have tire chatter/hop. This is normal and the vehicle does not require service".
Thank you for watching and thank you for commenting. When you can, take a look at my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this car. Drive safely
Lol. I’ve had my ‘19 Grand Sport for just over a month now. Everyone wants to race! Honda minivan, Toyota Camry. Lots of VWs. They all want a piece of me. I just smile, let them jump off at the light. I’m not getting my rims dirty for a minivan.
You can prevent much of the brake dust by properly burnishing or 'seasoning', also know as 'bedding', the brake pads. If it's a procedure you're unfamiliar with you can read about how to do so in the owners manual. I will post it below as well. That said, they'll always produce more dust than typical brake pads since they're a higher performance pad. Therefore, if you want little to no brake dust you'll have to change brake pads. Note: the following pertains to the 2017 C7 Grandsport without the Z07 performance package (carbon-ceramic rotors) although I doubt it’s much if any different for yours. Just tell the nice police officer you were bedding the brakes as directed by GM. I’m sure they’ll understand. ;) ‘Oh, uh, yeah I was just bedding the brakes’. “Ma’am, the registration says you bought the vehicle five months ago and you’re just now bedding the brakes?” ‘Oh, yeah, I just got new rotors. “Why so soon?” ‘Because I track the car fairly often’ (I have a 2019 ZR1). Oh yeah, don’t mention my name. It may not end well for you. Just sayin! ;) Btw, nice car! Try to keep the shiny side up. :) Note: the following is 'safer' at 3:00 AM on a lonely stretch of road between nowhere and not much else. Which, where I live, is pretty much anywhere. 1. Apply the brakes 25 times starting at 60 mph to 30 mph while at 0.4 g. This is a medium brake application. Drive for at least 0.6 miles between applying the brakes. This first step may be skipped if there are more than 200 miles on the brake pads. 2. Repeatedly apply the brakes from 60 mph to 15 mph while decelerating at 0.8 g. This is a hard brake application, without activating the Antilock Brake System (ABS). Drive for at least 0.6 miles between stops. Repeat until the brake pedal travel starts to increase. Depending on conditions, this should take no longer than 25 brake applications. 3. Cool down: Drive at 60 mph for approximately 10 miles without using the brakes. 4. Apply the brakes 25 times from 60 mph to 30 mph while decelerating at 0.4 g. This is a medium brake application. Drive for at least 0.6miles (between applications).
Your insane. That corvette is beautiful! I am not a corvette owner but this is one of the best looking corvettes I have seen. This is my dream car! Why are you so concerned about all the attention your getting? Didn’t you know that people would look at your corvette when you bought it? I always look at corvette’s when I see them. I would buy one of these in a hot minute if I could afford it. Beautiful cars.

The price continues to drop year after year and with the C8 coming out soon, the C7 will continue to drop in price but in my opinion the C7 is better looking that the upcoming C8. Drive safely
Right on, dude! The skipping thing IS normal - and just has to do with the wheel alignment/geometry. You car is a super-high performance car and it will have some draw backs on daily driving due to this. But you're not hurting anything. Take your car out on track and you'll quickly forgive any street driving quirks once you see what the car is capable of. it's a track monster!
Just fine. Only issue is the seats have little indents from my daughters car seat. I think they'll go away if I ever quit using her booster... I daily mine as well - in addition to tracking it once a month - so it's no show car - but holding up and still looking great. ;-)
That skipping thing is actually covered in the manual. I do believe it’s called the Ackermann Effect. When the inside and outside wheels are turning at different speeds and distances. It’s definitely worse in the cold though. Good points in your video btw!
Thanks for watching and for posting a comment. That was on of my 1st videos that i posted about 6 months ago, after driving it as my daily and through winter, YESSSS, it got way worse during the winter but by then i had accepted the 'skipping' for what it was ;o) Now I drive it with the top off as much as i can, best car i have ever owned.
I own a 2017 Collectors Edition Grand Sport also, and I freaked when I first heard it. However as you said, I just accepted it after I learned more about it. Good luck to you and amazing ride!
you are soooooo correct.........when turning low speed it feels like a truck in 4x4 mode. flat run summer tires are the wors. Def switching to all season tires.
Thanks for watching the video and for posting; carbon ceramic brake pads are on my list to install. A 75% reduction is amazing!!!! When you have time check out my video about the 5 things I love about this car.
Change the brake pads to a harder compound to eliminate dust and get dust covers. Change tires to eliminate the skipping and the gravel in the wheel wells.
Look into installing O’Reilly mud flaps behind the front wheels. Search the forums for instructions. It will save your brake ducts and rear quarters from being pelted.

Hey Mathew, thank you for watching and for posting a comment. I have owned the car for 6 months now and I barely notice it but I was talking about those times I am traveling on a regular road and it has gravel that cannot be avoided. On gravel roads, sometimes those cannot be avoided either, I go super slow. The tires are super sticky and pick up everything. That is why I installed XL front and rear rock guards, check out my video with the ACS mods ruclips.net/video/G5Zcv96vNIE/видео.html stay well
Enjoy the buying process. If you officially decide to move forward and join the corvette family, you will LOVE it. I was never a 'corvette guy" till after i bought one, it's truly the best car you can buy for the money ;o)
Hi....regarding your 1st. dislike comment about your car about the hoping/skipping noise, the only solution for this issue is to change your set of tires with all season type of tires. All brand new corvette of all trims come with track capable set of tires like what you have in your car and you have to deal with this annoying sound/noise. Now, if you will use your car for daily driving you have to install and use ALL SEASON set of tires and this annoying sound and frontal vibration during slow turn will completely be gone. To all corvette owners that are subscribing with you, my advice is to have two sets of wheels and tires to really enjoy your corvette. If you don't intend to use your car in track, just get another set of ALL SEASON tires run flat capable or you can file a complain with GM customer service to give you or replace your OEM set with ALL SEASON type....problem solve!
HI, thank you for watch my video and for posting a comment. I plan on getting all season run flats soon, I already have 5,600 miles on these OEM tires and I have gotten used to it. When you have time, check out my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this car. Drive safely
Thanks for taking the time to make a great video. But, I have some input on some of your concerns. 5. Brake dust. This happens on pretty much all vehicles. Just change to an low dust brake pad. 4. Road debris. Just do not get the track tires if you are not taking the car to the track. 3. Knobs. The price on the Porsche and Jag are tens of thousands of dollars more, so the materials in those vehicles should be better. $70 grand is a lot of money, but not in the world in which the Corvette GS runs, so compromises have to be made. 2. People wanting to race. Yes, it can be an aggregation, but easily ignored. 1. Tire skipping. Just put on an all season tires. I'm glad you posted this video tho. I'm looking to purchase a GS next year, and as a future first time Vette owner, this was valuable information.
Thank you for the reply, I agree with everything that you said. I have now owned the car for about 6 weeks and I LOVE this car. You are going to love yours! It's truly a special car.
I also have a C7 Grand Sport and overall I like it better than the two C6’s I had. I do not like the AFM that continually switches the engine from V8 to V4(Automatic 8-speed) but there is a way around that. I also have noticed a very small surge in rpm occasionally that gives the slight sensation that the engine is misfiring but this may be related to the AFM switching between V8 and V4. Still, I really like my Grand Sport so far. Good video...
I got into cars nearly 20 years ago with a small, economy hatchback. People on various forums would put aftermarket wheels and exhaust systems on those hatchbacks and suddenly they’d notice everyone wanted to race them. Somehow, it never happened to me. I’ve owned multiple sports and sporty cars since and have yet to see all this “challenges.” I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, it just doesn’t happen that much. Either way, they can rev and launch fast all they want. I’m not sure how or why other people acting silly is a problem with the car.
I agree with what you said at the end, none of those things are "deal breakers". One day, I will be able to buy a car like that, till then I will continue to day dream ;o) Enjoy it man!
Hey Blazing! I have been reading some of the comments here and WOW!!! Some of these Vette owners are super sensitive and I thought Ferrari owners were sensitive! I have seen plenty of other "5 things I hate" videos and it seems to be the same BS from these trolls who probably drive a 20 year old POS. Obviously these people do not understand that you actually DO NOT hate the car and that you simply made a video for your channel; all of your other videos clearly speak to the fact that you love this car. Keep up the great work bro and keep on taking the high road when responding to these trolls......these are just cars and life is too short to be all upset about a video, LMAO.
The answer to your brake dust is to put on ceramic brake pads. I had the same issue with my Stingray with Z51 package (same brakes as yours) and putting on ceramic pads reduced my brake dust 90%. It'll cost you about $300-400 parts and labor but save your sanity if you like clean wheels. And BTW the dust on the Stingray was never as bad as the brake dust on my 99 Boxster or 08 Cayman anyway. Also, the Boxster and Cayman also had the same skipping and hopping issues as the Stingray -- the Cayman in particular would make a sound like a gunshot when reversing in a sharp turn. In all these cars, you can get used to it or else avoid it by not turning as sharp. Changing the tires would be a waste.
Thank you for watching one of my videos and for leaving a comment. When you can watch my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this car ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html
My 2016 Z51 had the same brake dust and tire skip issues. First order replaced the factory tires with Michelin PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ ZPs. Next replaced the pads with Hawk Ceramics. Both problems solved. People still want to race me no matter what I change about the car.

When you can, check out the 5 things I LOVE about this car ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html and thank you for not leaving a nasty comment. I plan to change the tires and break pads soon but I have gotten used to both things after 6 months of daily driving it so I will likely do that when it’s time to change them....
love your choice of color and wheels, but you should get your choice of any color under the sun on brake calipers ,pads are the determining factor on brake dust . wheel hop diffinately is a serious concern for me that would drive me sleepless
Thanks man, the wheel hop is much worse with cold weather; it was 32 degrees the other day and I had to make wide turns to avoid the intense wheel hop......but I am still over the moon in love with this car
Read your owners manual, it clearly tells you about the tire hop. Both my C7 and FType R do this, low profile tire, nothing to worry about enjoy the car and all of the attention it brings.

Welcome to the family my friend! The brake dust is part of the deal with those brakes. I've got the carbon ceramics and zero dust. Wait, too flashy!? Lol have you seen this car? And you got chromes lol Ps: we both got 1LZ and 2LT respectively, base interiors so don't expect much lol
@@blazing9034 lol that's good man. Beautiful car. Mine is a '17 Watkins Glenn grey zo6, ...and if you think the attention is bad now, wait until you get exhaust. Beautiful value with the borla off road x pipe or my favorite the corsa off road double helix xpipe. Best first mods for the money
Welcome to owning a Corvette my friend lol yes the red light thing will not go away it only gets worse just so you know the Black wheels look even worse with break dust it's hard to get away from it but there are some products out there that will help.
Carbon ceramic brake pads really help, I think you should have researched the car first before you bought it. I've had 5 corvettes, a 76 a 92 two different 98 cps and a 2011 GS. and they all had the skip issues. but once I changed the Goodyear to Michelin it was a totally different ride. And since they have all weather run flats I may get a set for my new Gs or ZO6
Imo putting all season tires on a sports car would be a little silly unless somebody plans on driving a Corvette in the snow or inclement weather. All season tires are not great in any season anyway
In my opinion, all of the things you mentioned are completely valid gripes with the car. That amount of brake dust is pretty insane, especially on chrome wheels. Having driven a C7 Z06, I know exactly what you mean about the tires skipping & chattering like that...it's definitely an uncomfortable feeling, but it's just what they do unfortunately. As far as interior goes, they're exponentially nicer on the inside than the C6 & previous generations, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Great video! You've definitely gained a sub, & looking forward to more content!
Thank you for watching and for posting a comment. I have seen some of your reviews; keep up the great work! We are on the same journey and you also gained a new subscriber here.
Number 3 might not be enough reason for anyone who is thinking of buying a corvette but I'm a little hesitant on purchasing one because of it. I just feel the dashboard (besides the instrument panel) is so cheap looking, particularly the knobs. It looks so much like what you would see in the early 90s vehicles. Other than that I love the aggressive styling of it.
Many Corvette fans are jealous of your car and only dream to have the car you have. Yet, here you are complaining about your Corvette c7 Grandsport. Be grateful for what you have, it could be what someone else desires.
The tire thumping or skipping sounds especially when you are turning the wheel and the car is going slow will never go away. Those are the race tires griping the road as you are turning. When the tires warm it tends to do it less. The only way is to changes your tires to the non sport racing tires but you will miss the advantage of that awesome grip and tire contact. The brake dust has an easy fix, change your brake pads to ceramic pads and it will not be as bad. The radio knobs not sure how to fix it, buy a porche 911, to me not is a big deal. The attention you get to me is not a big deal, if the attention is to much leave the car in the garage. I have learned to ignore it and have a blast not paying attention to stupid people. The tire picking up dirt I purchased the ACS Composite XL Guards, plus it makes the car look wider.

Now I may be wrong as I am 94.3333% of the time but you might take a look in your owners manual. I think it states that these cars will skip at slow speeds and it's normal.. Well, at least they think everything's ducky... So take a look.
@@blazing9034 oh darn, people might think I'm getting smarter. lets fix that, the vette was made by Ferd right?... LOL. or ford or the ferrano fixated group of the left handed... Now that will fix it up nice...
Honest vid, I'm sure you've learned about those Michelins by now. Info in owners manual on dos & don'ts of summer tires. Those tires loose performance under 50degress, I noticed its 37 in Texas. Great color combo even tho I'm not a fan of chrome.
Mercedes Benz performance cars do it all the times, it cannot be fixed
Agree with you to all your 5 thinks I gate about this car, but I would add the front lower bumper extansion it is so low and every time I pull out of my driveway it scrape the bottom of that part.
Mike helo😆
I'm about to buy a new 2019 Z06. Does the front skip or the rear? If it's the rear could it be a matter of them missing friction modifier in the rear end?
Same wheels and tires on my 2013 427 convertible 60th anniversary. It’s called the Ackerman effect I think. Michelin had a bulletin saying not to run those tires under 30 degrees F I believe. In normal summer temps for summer time high performance tires, which these are, mine has no problems.
If he didn't want folks to pay attention to him he should have bought a minivan

This was so painful to watch! "I hate the brake dust", "I hate the soft tires", "I hate the attention"... WTF did you think you were buying???

First off I got a 2016 Z06 and a 2011 Grandsport. I did not buy, let me repeat I DID NOT BUY THE CAR TO BE SEEN!!! I purchased my Corvettes because I like them, let me repeat BECAUSE I LIKE THEM!!! Your vain ass may think like that. He is telling the truth I always say to own a Corvette is a blessing and a curse. People always gunning their slow as engines especially MOPAR cars.
The hopping of the tires is due to the compound the tires are made of. They do make a new all seasons run flat available that will curb this.
I will look into those, the hopping is really bad when it's cold out but I will try and wait till I have to actually change them before buying new tires......they are expensive, LOL
@@blazing9034 Great car! Check out corvette918's video about the tires.
@@aggiepride9 Thank you for watching and for posting a comment. I will look into your suggestions. Thanks again ;o)
Beautiful car my question is have you had problems with the engine with the fuel deactivation system which I wish GM would stop making these motors
I love the Chrome wheels. Black wheels are pretty, but I just prefer chrome.

I also made a video about Chrome vs Black rims, LOL....both have pros and cons but I LOVE this car, I have owned it for about 4 months now and it's been an amazing experience.
@@blazing9034 i get this same skipping when doing tight turns at low speeds in parking lots. was wondering if something is wrong with the car...

Another thing you may not be aware of is the vehicle is equipped with summer tires . It is recommended that you not drive on them in temperatures below 40. It was 37 on your temperature gauge. The skipping is magnified by colder temps.

So true! The used car market is insane, especially for Corvettes. Drive safely and hope you are able to buy one.
All of the dust on your wheels is not just brake dust, 50% of it is road dust. When your tires wear out buy tires that are not run flats, much quieter. As far as road noise and debris Wide tires cause that. Beautiful car! Enjoy!!

@@blazing9034 you say "if you have to finance it then you cannot afford it"... Plunking 70K lump sum on a rapidly depreciating asset is asinine on several fronts, particularly while common interest rates for top tier borrower are below 4%. Perhaps emphasizing the key phrase "have to".

This guy is funny as hell. I don't think he means to be funny, but funny he is. He's the C7 comedian. I laughed out loud five times.

I would like to know what car he had before the C7
Drive safely
once the tires heat up a little bit the wheel hop will go away a good bit....the say don't drive them with those tires if it's under 60 outside
Just sayin! ;)
Btw, nice car! Try to keep the shiny side up. :)
Note: the following is 'safer' at 3:00 AM on a lonely stretch of road between nowhere and not much else.
Your replies are well taken and much appreciated. Many thanks ;o)
Thank you for watching and thank you for posting a comment. When you can, watch my video that speaks to the 5 things I love about this are or any other of my videos ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html This is an amazing car and if it's your dream car, strive to get it. The price continues to drop year after year and with the C8 coming out soon, the C7 will continue to drop in price but in my opinion the C7 is better looking that the upcoming C8. Drive safely
Yep that’s right it is very nice looking better than the brand new corvette.
Thanks Chuck. How is the Kalahari holding up? I love that color!
Just fine. Only issue is the seats have little indents from my daughters car seat. I think they'll go away if I ever quit using her booster... I daily mine as well - in addition to tracking it once a month - so it's no show car - but holding up and still looking great. ;-)
Piece of advice, have the front end camber and alignment redone. Otherwise you'll be buying tires after about 12 - 15,000 miles OR LESS.
Daniel Fair This is true. Stock alignment is whack
Could you show us the skipping?
He sounds like Mike Tyson. I have a 2017 Grand Sport. Only complaint I have is that "I wish I'd gotten it sooner.
Thank you for watching the video and for leaving a kind comment. Stay well
What is hopping and skipping ?
Can I think of the way an off road 4 X 4 turns on pavement ?
Carbon ceramic brake pads are the way go. I did it and have 75% less dust on my daily driver Z06
Put Continental Contact tires on it and not all season
Every new generation is introduced to MILLIONS of possible NEW corvette owners!
True that! Thanks for watching
Look into installing O’Reilly mud flaps behind the front wheels. Search the forums for instructions. It will save your brake ducts and rear quarters from being pelted.
Awesome, thanks for the advice.
Blazing 903 you’re welcome. If you check out our channel, we just released a street and track review of the Grand Sport Collectors Edition.
This is a high performance car not made for low performance drivers.
Thank you for watching and for posting a comment, when you can please check out my video that speaks to the 5 things I LOVE about this car ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html
WHen you say amount of debry is that on regular street roads or just dirt/gravel roads wasnt entirely sure what that meant , just asking.
That is why I installed XL front and rear rock guards, check out my video with the ACS mods ruclips.net/video/G5Zcv96vNIE/видео.html stay well
@@blazing9034 Appreciate the answer to clarify, just wanted to be sure in due time could possibly join the club.
Enjoy the buying process. If you officially decide to move forward and join the corvette family, you will LOVE it. I was never a 'corvette guy" till after i bought one, it's truly the best car you can buy for the money ;o)
In your owners manual, it says the skipping is normal and is performing as expected
Hi....regarding your 1st. dislike comment about your car about the hoping/skipping noise, the only solution for this issue is to
change your set of tires with all season type of tires. All brand new corvette of all trims come with track capable set of tires like
what you have in your car and you have to deal with this annoying sound/noise. Now, if you will use your car for daily driving you
have to install and use ALL SEASON set of tires and this annoying sound and frontal vibration during slow turn will completely
be gone. To all corvette owners that are subscribing with you, my advice is to have two sets of wheels and tires to really enjoy
your corvette. If you don't intend to use your car in track, just get another set of ALL SEASON tires run flat capable or you can
file a complain with GM customer service to give you or replace your OEM set with ALL SEASON type....problem solve!
I’ve owned multiple sports and sporty cars since and have yet to see all this “challenges.”
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, it just doesn’t happen that much.
I give you lots of credit for the way you replied, you have a new subscriber in me for being so level headed with your replies.
Thank you for the support and the positive comment
Cool videos, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the support and the same applies to you!
Changed to Ceramic pads for $210 and no more or very limited dust. Easy change you can do yourself.
You gotta remember that this is a racing vehicle not a a luxury sedan
Pretty whip!! love the color!
dude got an anutomatic vette and complained about the volume control buttons wiggling a little bit. JUST LOL
People still want to race me no matter what I change about the car.
john combs true that! This was one of my first videos, lol.
Thank you for watching and for posting a comment. When you have time check out my video that speaks to the 5 things I LOVE ruclips.net/video/DB49FjxbtGY/видео.html

The Z06 is an amazing car! I am looking into both exhaust...leaning toward the Borla
12,000 to replace
Welcome to owning a Corvette my friend lol yes the red light thing will not go away it only gets worse just so you know the Black wheels look even worse with break dust it's hard to get away from it but there are some products out there that will help.
The issues this guy has with the Corvette is the nature of the beast
Believe it or not armor all wheel protectant is worth every penny! You should give it a try.
Thank you for the suggestion, I try it for sure ;o)
You won’t regret it
The tire thumping or skipping sounds especially when you are turning the wheel and the car is going slow will never go away.
The tire picking up dirt I purchased the ACS Composite XL Guards, plus it makes the car look wider.
the biggest problem with GS is 460 hp GM should have made this at 500 to 550 hp bc 460 hp its not fast enough
3.7 is not slow.
Fast enough FOR WHAT? Most highway speed limits are 55 to 75 MPH. School zones are 25. Oh I get it, you want more power to get to your favorite local gay bar.
Put a super charger on it and you will have the same engine as a Z06 with the LT1 and it will be just as fast. as any 700 hp engine will be.
@@jimdavidson5208 why would a guy that traded in his geo metro for a Prius watch a video about a sports car that unlike most of the Male population, doesn't understand why they love them? Oh I get it, you want to save gas on the way to the gay bar.

It's not just you...all of us C7 users have to deal with brake dust. When you need to replace the pads, try using Hawk Performance pads. Good luck.
