- Watch these amazing carbide coated steel burrs cut and shape things around the home!
They are great for hobbies, modelling and D.I.Y. projects.
Dura-GRIT 1/8" shaft, Carbide burrs, run at 35,000 rpm in a high speed drill such as Dremel, Black & Decker RTX, Foredom, Proxxon, Ryobi, WeCheer and any other 1/8" chick high speed drill.
They are available at dealers and online at www.duragrit.com Хобби
This is the best kit i've ever seen in ma life
Thanks for posting and sharing it with us , im gonna buy it soon
I have Dremel 4000 now i need to buy angle and this bit sounds exciting but money wise its too expensive in my country and if i ship it from US its equal amount of shipping charges.. i think Dremel must consider lowering their accessory prices considering above situation and also considering that these are all consumables.
thanks for sharing this! you opened a new dremel world !
I can't wait to get my set of Duragrit discs !
Amazing
The Dremel 575, right angle drive.
This accessory fitted with a DuraGrit cutting wheel like the 1-14" CW5, is excellent in assisting with straight cuts. Pull the wheel towards you. It is easy to cut a straight line
Great video! Now I FINALLY know what my Dremel was made to do!
wow! those look really good! although i dont need any right now thats something that when ill need a tougher cut ill probably get those. YOU CAN SEE HOW FLAWLESSLY THOSE THINGS CUT :O
what's even more impressive is the range of wood you have there :-) makes me want to be a chippy.
Thank you.
Experience helps for sure but that is the same for driving a car :-) DuraGrit carbide cutting and shaping wheels offer stability in themselves. Also using the Dremel 575 right angle drive and pulling the cutting wheel towards the operator, helps cut straight.
DuraGrit carbide sanding tools last a very long time. You'd have to try them to determine if they outlast sanding bands on your particular project. I'd recommend getting the 1/2" HT2, hollow-tip burr instead of the SD2 1/2" sanding drum. That way you also get a mini hole saw as well as a 1/2" sander. The carbide can be cleaned and brought back to near new condition, using a wire brush and solvents such as acetone or oven cleaner for burned wood if you've been too aggressive.
Great advert for Dremel. I have one and you have to be VERY careful when cutting or sanding BALSA wood!! They are VERY efficient!
DuraGRIT cutting wheels in a Dremel, are indeed, very efficient cutting tools and last a long time. As the ad says, 'They Really Work! And Work. And Work...
All models of Dremel are suitable for DuraGrit carbide cutting and shaping wheels.
In fact, any hi-speed drill (5,000 - 35,000 rpm) with 1/8" collet or chuck is suitable.
Very good demo - well done :)
great work.
Nice job.. Thanks
Dremel che passione.
Yes, with DuraGrit carbide bits, your Dremel can do some real work around the house or in the workshop.
woahh it cuts through balsa like butter!
thank you
I love it!
Gotta love cool tools!
Depends on the material being cut. Rule of thumb - start slowly and increase the speed gradually to optimum speed for the material in question. Apply very little pressure. Let the tool do the work.
Plastics can melt with too much speed and pressure. Using the Dremel 575 right angle drive, halves the speed and gives excellent control and directional stability (cuts straight :-) for plastics and laminates
Yes, the demonstrator is experienced but you'll be surprised when you try it, the tool cuts/grinds, so aggressively, there is little 'push back' and therefore is easy to control. It's one of the features that users love about DuraGrit tools. :)
They seem absolutely amazing! can i use these to cut shapes out of thin metal? Thank you!
Absolutely correct. Like all projects, it is important to use the right tool for the job.
Tools designed to excel on hard and soft woods, fiberglass, carbonfibre, laminates, MDF, ABS, PVC and even soft materials like rubber and leather, would not be a good choice for plate steel.
Try Dremel's sacrificial EZ-mount metal cutting wheels, they are excellent for small metal cutting jobs.
@reeboki3
Thank you but the carbide coated steel disc rotating at high speed helps stabilize the tool.
nice i could use that in my line of work
i really don't know why im watching this wideo but it's still awesome :P
What a steady hand! Lot of experience I'd guess!
This thing is strong
Maybe we are getting our terminology mixed up?
When you asked 'what is that attachment?' and I replied - the Dremel 575 right angle drive attachment', maybe what you meant was 'What is the 'bit' or 'burr' or cutting wheel'? In which case, it is a 1-1/2" dia carbide cutting wheel.
There are two versions of this powerful carbide cutting wheel, the Dremel EZ544 (for those that have the Dremel 'E-Z' attachment mandrel or the DuraGrit CW5, which comes already mounted on a heavy duty, steel mandrel.
Thank you very much! :) If I may ask one more thing, I'm grinding steel plates and I noticed that if I set a very high speed of rotation, the grinding disc (along with the rest of the tool) somehow begins to bounce - does it mean the speed is too high or should I just hold it more steadily?? Thx
The Dremel 575 right angle drive. Pull the wheel towards you. It is easy to cut a straight line
Excelente !
A power carver/drilling/milling machine. Check the description for manufacturers of such. There cool, can get all sorts of adaptions for them, like these dura-grit bits making them super versatile. I use a proxxon micromot system for wood carving. Loadsa fun
Not recommended for metal because the tool life is reduced and there are better tools for cutting metals than small carbide wheels. These are amazing when used to cut hard and soft woods, fiberglass, carbonfibre, laminates, MDF, ABS, PVC etc.
Thanks for your useful feedback. More and more dealers across Europe are carrying DuraGrit - UK, France, Germany, Turkey.... check the dealer page on the duragrit website
Amazing!!
Truly!!
Try them, you've never seen anything like them in the chuck of a Dremel or other hi-speed drill :-)
Ohhhh son una maravilla esas herramientas quisiera tenerlas todas :)
" Ohhhh are wonderful these tools would have them all " The more shapes, sizes and grits you have, the more jobs you can perform.
Cuantas más formas, tamaños y sémola tengas, más puestos de trabajo que se pueden realizar .
(Re. Would be nice if they placed a small graphic showing the exact bit being used. Kind of hard to see when it's spinning at 30000 rpm.)
Yes Bob, you are right. Check them out at duragrit.com and all will be revealed :-)
Thanks for your comment
We use these a lot with our Dremel tools. The SR YEL-004 assisted with cutting 12mm laminate flooring when installing in a new home. Also, because we needed a larger diameter carbide bit we ordered the 1 1/2" cutting bit and it saved a lot of time with a professional look.
Amish Made Buildings Small Tools - Big Work! A good example of DuraGRIT cutting wheels enabling a Dremel to do real work!

@putin4055
Up to 35,000 rpm, depending on the material being cut. Faster for hard and soft woods and fiberglass. Slower for things such as soft plastics to reduce friction and melting.
Rule of thumb - start slow and increase to optimum speed for specific material.
Low pressure always - let the tool do the work.
At point 3:50 in the movie, the carbide wheel being used is the DuraGrit Mushroom Shaping Wheel in 60 grit ( SR-MSW-060 ). This wheel can shape wood, laminate flooring, clay backed ceramic wall tile (not floor tile), fiberglass as well as soft materials such as rubber, leather and rigid foam etc.
Smartest move I've seen on any of these cutting videos happens at 4:40 with the vacuum. Smart move using the vacuum.
All Dremels are suitable for these powerful cutting tools.
Sets? Yes, the DuraGrit SR-BLU-005, five wheel set has them all.
Impressive! Would they cut steel/copper pipes?
@adisharr
Thanks but it all lays in the power and versatility of the tool.
@bwoodcracker
It is a way to demonstrate that the same carbide cutting wheel will cut soft wood like balsa and hard wood like 1/2" oak, both with eae and with a sanded finish.
A good demonstration I think?
Does this discs can cut FR-4 PCB material, It's mainly a fiberglass sheet (usually 1/16" thick) Will they wear fast? How thin are the discs? 1/32" maybe? Thanks.
ola tudo bem ecelente video voce poderia me dizer onde encontro estes acessorios pra comprar obrigado
@galactus773
The EZ544 is the same as the DuraGrit CW5, except that the center hole is a 'bow-tie' shape, to fit the Dremel EZ-Lock system. Otherwise, they are identical.
@Baseballt97
Biggest size cutting wheel is1.5" dia. Allowing for the mandrel, that's a full 5/8" deep cut.
Can NOT wait to see these on Robot Wars!
As with any tool, it will depend on what you cut and how you cut it. It is a small tool that can perform big tasks. Rule of thumb for a long working life: Start slowly, do not apply too much pressure. Increase speed to suit the material being cut (burning is too fast) and let the tool do the work! What you see in the movie, is what you get. (Not recommended for metal)
Will these wheels cut through 1/2" of titanium plate ??
nice
As you will see throughout this thread, DuraGrit tools are not recommended for steel. They will work but not for as long as with all the multitude of other materials they are designed to work with.
As for your question, are you attempting to 'cut' steel plate or 'grind' the surface? Cutting thin steel plate will cause the tool to vibrate or bounce, if the plate is not firmly supported and prevented from grabbing and chattering.
@chmellen
This is sanding. It is part of the process. :-)
@VashRocks12349
Yes but be sure to reduce the speed and applied pressure. As with most tools, let the tool do the work and reduce friction and heat.
What Dremel are you using? Is there a pack from DuraGrit you can buy which includes a set of what you demonstrated in this video? Anything you recommend.
@Ryanty12
All the carbide tools in the demo movie(s) are DuraGrit carbide tools.

Hi what's the grinder brand name ... The blades I will purchase them just need the grinder brand name ... Thanks for this great video sir
Will it cut through a 1/4 steel door. I bought a back door that is too high and need to shave off about 2 inches from the top. The door is also coated something like a powder coating, but softer.
@RJSoftware2000
This is an interesting point. These cutting wheels 'grind' - not cut - like a traditional saw blade. You'd have to work very hard to cut a finger off! :-)
voce poderia me dizer onde posso encontrar pra comprar estes acessorio obrigado
Karen, la profundidad del corte es 15.9mm
You may use DuraGrit carbide sanding and cutting tools on hard and soft woods, fiberglass, carbonfibre, Laminates, MDF, ABS, PVC, even soft materials such as leather and rubber.
DuraGrit tools are not recommended for metal.
@CarbideBurrGuy thanks a lot
concrete cutting?
Demonstration show!
I am interested in getting the 1/2" sanding drum, but at £14 its a bit expensive. I pay £2 for 6 replacement Dremel sanding drums at the moment, would this Dura-grit sanding drum outlast 42 dremel sanding drums?
I use them for shaping walnut handgun grips.
how long do they last
y en chile cuando?
qual e o nome desse disco???? - which name gave disc????
DuraGrit SR-CW5-060 or
Dremel EZ544
Hi buddy. Can u say what is the difference between the CW560 disc and SC544 disc ? Thank u a lot.
@samucapaula
Thank you. You may buy these tools by mail order from duragrit webstore
How fast is it revolving? 10,000 rpm? 35,000 rpm?
@CarbideBurrGuy Alright, thank you for your time =)
Why not just use the cutting/shaping wheel for all cutting? Or is it ineffective?
please answer me this cutt of disk work with my dremel 300 ? and she cut aluminum ?
But will it blend?
@utilisimaful Hola Karen, usted puede comprar estas herramientas de DuraGrit en el webstore del duragrit y serán enviadas a usted en Honduras vía USPS
which dremel do u used for this video ?
At what speeds he is cut?
@CarbideBurrGuy Amazing. I want some. I bet they're great for trimming your toenails as well. (Joke)
They look very useful.
I've just checked Amazon here in the U.K. £76 and £50 ($123 and $81) just the 2 sets available.
Another retailer has the Dura-Grit Combo Carbide Cutting & Shaping Wheel for around £21 and sells the tools individually so that's me sorted.
Thanks for the video
what is the name of that 90 degree attachment ?
I have a doubt: How do you get to have a pulse hand when you are doing a straight cut and don't miss?
The wheels spin at up to 35,000 rpm and are very stable. Also, if mounted in a Dremel 575 right angle drive, they are very accurate indeed, as you can extend your arm and draw the drill towards you. It is easy to stay on the line using this method as in the demo videos
@MJFAN666
Yes, Big Work for Small Wheels!
Will it fit the black and decker rtx6??? Reply
how long do these wheels last?
At 3:50 what is the number of the bit? Thank you very much!!!!
Where i can buy the wheels?
what is that attachemnt at 4:01
How does it handle aluminum, say 3mm thick?
Not recommended for use on metals.
Depends on what color outfit you are wearing.
How much would about 10 of these cost?
How is this possible to get no kickback using it ? O.o Look extremely dangerous.
Drill Speed. Hard carbide grit grinding at speeds up to 35,000 rpm = no kickback.
I know, it has that effect on some people.
