Nubians were always my favorite until I found out about Mini Nubians…. I haven’t had a Mini Nubian yet but I think they will win the competition for me! But I love all goats actually…. I also had a wonderful Alpine and a Boer once as well. Can’t wait to get Mini Nubians… hopefully in 2023. Your barn looks so nice!!
Starla is one of the farm favorites. If you watched her birthing video from this spring she had a beautiful moon spotted bucking and a cute little doeling.
My Grandma had a goat we used to play with. She was a nice little goat. West Branch! I've been up that way a few times. I'm from Saginaw originally. Such a great little farm. Wishing you all much success, & Merry Christmas. 🌲
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan Yes? Cool! Me too. We moved from Saginaw to Bay City when I was in grade school. Lived out on Killarney beach near the state park. Later we would move off toward Auburn when I was in HS. Seems like I've always been moving.
So, I think it depends on the goat. I get WAAAY more milk from two of my purebred Minis then I do my purebred Standard. However I wish my minis had the teat opening size that my standard does.
Kelsey is trying to justify to Maylee not keeping any of Starla’s starlings in the spring lol. Maylee was happy you accepted honey for the stud fee so she wouldn’t have to use her savings, she was surprised when I told her she now owes me $75 worth of labor in the bee yard😂
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan omg! That’s too funny! But awesome. Why to teach them that having a farm isn’t just loving them you have to work to feed them.
Double D, I saw your videos come up in my mini Nubian search too, looks like both your farms here know each other! I am looking for mini Nubians, just moved to Northwest MO with acreage of our own- is it common to search over 300 miles away for this breed? They seem hard to find!
@@amygarner879 we traveled that far and then some for some of our Animals. We delivered sheep to central Ohio as well. If you have livestock FB groups in MO you could post an in search of ad.
This little lady has sold me. I'm team mini nubian and you guys answered my question so thank you for the fun video. Exactly how much milk do you tend to get from each breed?
This was a hard one. Both Kelsey and Maylee brought up some very good points on why which goat was better. I agree with Mike that it's a matter of personal preference. My personal preference has nothing to do with feeding, milk production or personality--I like the black and white goat!! Good job presenting your cases, Kelsey and Maylee!!
Did you watch the video of the birth of Starla and Apollo? Apollo was a gorgeous little buckling sold as a whether to a nice family for a pet! ruclips.net/video/RqSVUwhifb4/видео.html
Really interested in mini Nubians. I’ll add an argument for that-> smaller size is a little more manageable. I used to want Nubians, but after studying mini Nubians the last couple months, they’re winning me over.
Super helpful
What about teat size and ease of milking between the two? Thank you!
We have a video we are working on!!! 😄
I am trying to decide between Nigerian and mini nubs any advice and infomation is really appricaited.
Are you going to milk them?
@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan yes
@@gatewayshorsesfamilyandfoo9770 Kelsey says she would go mini Nubian over a Nigerian for milking.

We never actually compared since we milked into the same bucket. But Starla the mini nubian probably gave a half quart less than the other Nubians.

Mini ones less feed. HOW MANY MONTHS OF MILKING MINI VS REG NUBIAN??????
That depends on you and your individual doe. Miniature goats are tested on a 300 day lactation just like their full size counterparts.

Either one you can’t go wrong! But Maylee makes some good arguments 😀
