    Been raising goats for many yrs the best video iv seen so far . I'm near St. Louis Mo. This past yr it's been hard finding my grain . Just want to mention that should find a brand and mix and stay with it , goat dont like diet change .Just like Pam's hay it screwed her up . The only feed that I can depend on is Purina . Young lady your a bundle of imformation and will have a large beautiful herd to show for your hard work . That's the part we all leave out when talking about goats all the hard work and heartbreak .

      Thank you very much! Excellent point about sticking with a grain mix to avoid rumen issues!

    Very good. Especially appreciated all the questions from the cameraman, even though I'm sure he already knew all the answers.

    I have one Nubian goat and the only time I have heard her make any noise was when she went in heat. She would not shut up until we found a mate for her. My boar goats seem to be the most vocal, but that might be because they are the youngest.

    Finally...a goat farmer interested in the same qualities in a goat that i am. 50 years ago i had a very big nubian/ alpine cross..a mistake in fencing i presume. Mother was #1 @ nys fair for years ..great milker..loved the cheese and milk..other goats milk went to feeding young till sale..milk from them never came into house. Would love having goats again but isnt going to happen, daughters to busy developing properties and members only pub ( mostly all about the food) good luck..its a great lifestyle and place to raise children.

    I am in love with Nubians and Nigerian dwarfs. The Nubians I have seen are bigger/taller than yours and I don’t know why that is. Within the next 2 yrs I plan on starting my own homestead and both breeds will be there. I’m so excited that I found your channel. Thanks so much for all that information. ❤ oh, new subscriber here.. ❤😊 P.S. Northern Michigander as well.

      The bucks we currently have are still growing but did the intended job. The does were young as well which might be why they look smaller. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️😄 usually the camer adds 10lbs lol. Thanks for joining!

      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  2 года назад +1

      Yes send us an email at sweetbriarfarmllc@gmail.com Kelsey has a list going. We absolutely love the office we have: Pam, Phylis Vance “Vance refrigeration”, Jimothy aka Can I call you Jim, Karen Philipeli. We had Jane Levingston Gould, Angela, and Andy.
      Our breeding sows are mostly named after 80s/90s talk show hosts lol

    So should goats have baking soda freely or every now and then?

    • @SweetBriarFarmMichigan
      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  3 месяца назад

      They should always have access to clean baking soda. Mine usually get excited when I first refill it but then only seem to use it when they need to. Baking soda acts as a buffer in their gut to prevent excessive changes in pH.

    I am new to the world of goats. After milking the goats, do you treat the milk or use it immediately afterwards?

    • @SweetBriarFarmMichigan
      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  6 месяцев назад +2

      We run it through a milk filter and put the jars in an ice bath to get it cold quick. We have pasteurized it as well with no change in flavors.
