Emmet, I am 81 years old living in a suburb of Atlanta who discovered your channel during the pandemic. I grew up on Long Island and saw the jazz greats at Birdland and the Village Vanguard as a young person, I really miss good live music. Now I can make the NYC scene with your show which I watch every week after my wife goes to bed. Since I play jazz guitar and am knowledgeable of music theory, I can appreciate how really good you are. I am especially impressed with your ability to maintain the groove, comp and solo seamlessly with whoever is your guest. They obviously enjoy playing with you. See you next week. Thanks!!!
During the insanity of covid, Emmet Cohen’s internet treats were what helped to bring some nice musical moments, at a well needed time. Thank you, Emmet !
Jazz Underground been together so long now that their time feel is not moving and Emmet has to go with them. Very interesting. A phenomena i have felt every time i play with band that is tight in their way. It makes it easy for me to just fit in with their feel.
Wow!! I usually find this style boring af even though I’ve played it my whole life. I think because it was done already so long ago and young guys just copy the old shit. But this…This was really great!! Definitely will check you guys out next time you’re in NYC. Please let me know and I will come support you. I know how hard it is to play like this. A lifetime of study and sacrifice that most would never understand or appreciate. 🔥🔥🔥
Always smooth and swinging, Emmet, as well as the New Jazz Underground. Sorry I missed you here at SF Jazz which was sold out (all 6 shows)! Thanks for bringing so much melodic, smokin’, and incomparable joy to me and so many, many others with your videos and in-person gigs!!

What a great sound on tenor. Beautiful.
That bass solo was so much fun. Great musicianship all around.
The hookup between the bass and drums is excellent.

Love it old school , better than constant coltrane clones
Sounds a bit like lockjaw
