I’m happy to see how satisfied you are with this rebuild. I have a pair of White’s Bounty Hunters that I got in early 2013 that I am going to send in for a rebuild sometime this year.
I just got my new pair of Nicks last Monday.i have allways worn Whites for the past 30 years.. And this time I decided to try Nicks and so far I am impressed. And I agree about the Obanauaf laces I have a pair that are 5 yeas old and still going strong.
I drove today from Seattle to Spokane and got me my first boots from them. Really nice and friendly people. Great customer experience. They also sell a bunch of Filson clothing.
Give thanks for sharing, I'mma about to send a pair for a rebuild, and you jus answered some of my questions (laces & kilties)... much appreciated... and your boots look killer!
Great review. I heard of Whites Boots and wanted to know how good they were. You fully answered that. Side note: I have a pair of Chippewa brand Boots. They are insulated and lined. Nice and cozy. I wear them only during the winter. I take good care of them and they only get light duty. Yeah, the insulation and lining is a weak link, but they've held up for 12 years (winters). One thing is a drag: the Vibram(?) sole picks up a lot of dirt/rocks (like all boots with that type of aggressive pattern). So I carry a pair of booties to protect a customer's floor. Or I remove the boots completely. That makes a tremendous statement to my customers. It expresses the quality of work that I due and concern/respect I have for their property. And I don't leave a mess behind. Customers(especially the housewives) really appreciate that.
That's awful someone would steel your boots but glad your getting another pair! Yes, the break in is my least favorite. Cooke hours a day and they will be like slippers in no time!
I just received my Smoke Jumper in Latigo leather, my very 1st pair of Whites boots (as well as PNW makers)!! My 3rd consecutive day of wearing them for 11-12 hr days and so comfy! I chose medium arch and it's perfect for me as I don't need the high arch support for the type of work I do -amazing! I luv these boots! Most comfortable foot bed, ever and I've got 16 pairs of other bootmakers
Happy Saturday Chris !! Thanks for sharing the info on Whites boots, its nice to have the opinion of someone who knows about leather and craftsmanship !!!
I own the lace to toe smokejumpers as well. My older brother has the basic 400v and the toe is very soft, I can't stand that. The roughouts are nice too but when oil is applied it's a grime magnet.
If you do not want to go the “custom made boots” route , than go for White boots… period. The smoke jumper boot style is amazing with calk soles. Great for hunting rough terrain or smoke jumping for Wildland fires. Custom boots rarely need much breaking in because everything about them fits you perfectly. They also last longer. White boots are the next option. Your feet carry you through life so protect them with the highest quality boot you can afford. If you cannot afford them than ask your grandma to help with the cost. I was asked and was happy to help. I felt like I was part of his life experience. It remains a happy thought for me.
Yes, custom boots still have to break in. It's the leather that needs to soften were it bends. And Whites boots offer custom boots also! And even the other logger boots companies offer none custom and custom boots! Just as whites do! Do you not understand that? I agree, go with whites
Just picked up a set of fireboots surprised that they feel broke in and they are new boots very happy with what I got from whites will buy again whenever that is
I agree with u 100% regarding the boots being worth the investment. The elimination of back & knee pain along with undeniable comfort is worth the price. I own 3 pair of White's and a pair of Nicks. Both are equally excellent boots in comfort and durability.👍🏼
I hear what you say about the first custom boot you get. My first pair was a pair of Nick's Builder Pro's which I love. I also have a pair of Wesco Jobmasters which should be here next month from Wesco.
How have these boots helped your back and knee problems ? I have thought about getting some White's packers or rancher boots . I have had one knee replacement and the other will eventually need one too . Just curious if these boots would help . Thanks.
Because of the high arches, you stand more inline. This helps to carry your overall weight and distribute ot more evenly across your foot. Helps you stand straighter and helps your posture.
Super nice looking boots , saw on bench last night when u did yesterday’s video , I’m assuming u did both together , same shirt and vest on , lol , but nicely done , I’ve had 4 back surgery’s I can’t wear those heels they hurt my back ,
Had a pair rebuild and sent back to me. I was very disappointed they buffed thru the new threads and I sent them pictures they did take care of me but I was without boots for 3 1/2 months! Wearing a back up pair wasn't ideal!
I would say a rebuilt pair of Whites is a great option. On boots that are well worn to thrashed, if the uppers are in good enough shape to reuse, do it. Most of the break in that hurts is getting the uppers to conform to your ankles. With a rebuild, this is already done! I have a few pairs of Whites. My father and I wear the same basic size. He gave me a pair of his Whites packer boots with logger heels and soles. I’m going to have Nick’s rebuilt them and create a pair of Whicks! Haha White uppers and Nicks lowers.
Just looking at the tops of those boots,,,do you have calves or steers above your ankles?😝😝 Look like they did a good job on the rebuild! Take care brother!
Nicks Builder Pro or Contender's vs Whites Smoke Jumper durability and comfort? Thanks. I like the look of the White's Smoke Jumper 8' inch tall with low heel. I just want a pair for hunting and bush wacking but there are no hills where i live and i have a pretty low arch naturally so i don't think I'd like a high heel but i don't know
Bucking is a Viberg man. They are made in Vancouver. If he lived in Spokane Washington he would probably be a Whites or Nicks guy. All are excellent boots. What model of Whites do you have?
Hathorne Explorers are Goodyear welted so they are resoleable but NOT rebuildable. Hathorne Hi Line are resoleable and rebuildable both are from different section of leather hides than the White’s line. From top tier prestige choice hide section to other sections of the high grade hides is White’s (Top Grade leathers) (Hand Stitchdown Stitchdown Goodyear welted)- Hathorne Hi Line (stitchdown)- Hathorne Explorers (Goodyear Welted). The only fire boot that will always be White’s are the smokejumpers. You can find the stitchdowns in Hi Line or Whites. You find the Goodyear Welted boots in Explorer or White’s. The three ranges leather all come from the same hides just for the White’s line they select the best portions of the hide for them especially the hand stitchdown models.
@@KillingerUSA will re look do you know anyone who does limited edition boots by whites I contact whites about it and they said they can only do a resole?
@@rogerblakemore6501 I do not. There are a couple boot rebuilders here on RUclips. I dont know any of them personally and I dont know the channels. Do a search for boots restored or something like that and maybe reach out to one of them?
If I still had to wear boots, I’d definitely give White’s a try. Why-because Killinger recommended them, period.
Hey Whites-sponsor this guy!
Haha!

Just ordered me a new pair early December. Last pair were stole out the back of my truck.... Can't wait except for the break in.
