Is this an EV or a hybrid, does a hybrid charge while idling? It ruined our quiet picnic, pls explain why they left this car running.
They might've left their car running if it was a diesel, sometimes diesels are hard to re-start once they're hot (at least years ago that was the case,) but if it were a hybrid- well, that would mean they're stupid. Yes, a hybrid recharges by running its gas motor, but generally that happens when you're driving it somewhere!
EV's make a good neighborhood vehicle just for very short trips, grocery, hardware store, pizza, but not for visiting Grandma in the next county. (the latest news, don't drive one thru water)
The EV cycle is slowing down because most people bought the EV as a second car and have a home to charge overnight. The market is very selective and don't even mention buying a used EV!
I would be in a constant state of fear in case l got technical problems while charging, l hear of travellers encountering difficulties with bank cards etc. But l don't have an exploding vehicle.
@@edntam4evr Yes, but gas cars don't burn for days, the fire can be extinguished, and generally it's no big deal. I've got a fire extinguisher in my car tho I've never had to use it. An EV bursts into flames very suddenly & can't be extinguished; the fumes are toxic & require full hazmat gear; they've burnt down huge ships, parking garages & apartment blocks. A gas car is like a candle flame compared to an EV flamethrower!
Many EV charging stations are a disaster for women ( and nearly as bad for blokes ), often in remote out of the in way badly lit corners - compare that with brightly lit and secure fuel stations, with staff on duty and CCTV.
@@deniswauchope3788 There is very little margin in selling ICE fuels once the government has had their large slice.... That is why many garages now have a convenience store on site, to try to make a bit of money. Just imagine that the treasury takes 65% of the price of ICE fuel in VAT tax and duty - that leaves 35% for the drilling, refining and transport as well as service station overheads....
So many things you forgot: Theft of copper cables. You are sitting duck for crime while you sit there for long periods. Charging anxiety (not sure you will have the stations you need) Power outages that will 100% strand you. Brownouts - common in California. The inability of pumps to work well in deep freezes. Some of the above leads to towing your vehicle. EVs are a joke.
Gee. A quick charge in 20 minutes (much longer in most cases) or a fill-up in less than 5 minutes. How insanely out of touch can people be. My time is worth more. On a long trip, you can add hours.
But..but...but.. the sky will fall in ten years if we don't go 100% renewable.... If I were you, I would go after the true environmental impact of EVs.
This would be a worthwhile business opportunity and I don't understand why nobody so far has done it. Have a sheltered, full service charging station with an attendant to help with problems and issues and collect the money. Have a waiting room with a coffee machine and a TV for people to sit down and wait for the charge. The way things are now, you are on your own, the outdoor charging station stands bare alone, you have to everything yourself, and what do you do, during inclement weather? And you might get mugged out there, along some lonely street or parking lot. The charging station might also be equipped with its own generators to avoid any power grid problems or overloads
That would be a worthwhile business opportunity if it weren't for the fact that there's very little margin in re-selling electricity, and that power companies charge more when demand is high. Look up "demand charging," which can cause a single EV charge to cost even more than a full tank of gas. There's just no profit; no way to pay for the attendant, the building, the coffee machine, none of it. EVs are a pipe dream, and so is 'climate change,' it's all snake oil!
E.V. is anachronistic for............totally frustrating useless freakin technology!!!!!! Oh and did I say the most "Dog ugly!" (Sorry Fido and Biscuits) style of car design or lack of it!
My wife and I have been driving a Tesla Model Y for 3 years and a Mercedes EQE for 3 months now. Tesla chargers have been 100% reliable and wait times are non-existent. 45 minutes for a full charge. We just kick back and watch Netflix or RUclips. We charge our Mercedes using the free 2 years of Electrify America. I typically have to wait about half hour for a charging station to open up but a 30 minute charge on one of their super charging stations will give you about 1/2 to 2/3 tank and they've been 95% reliable. We're in Orange County, CA. We charged our Tesla mostly at home during low demand hours and it's been way cheaper than gasoline. One thing though, EV's are NOT environmentally clean! To get the rare earth metals, they're using massive diesel-powered trucks to move tons and tons of earth. Just letting you know the realities of EVs and EV charging today if you're on the fence.
You don't need to compete for spots with Uber (Eats) drivers? When a blogger from Australia went to Cal. to experiance 'good' infrastructure, he had that problem and had to return his rental with low battery.
This creates the false impression that you always need to use public charging. Most EV owners charge at home overnight when demand on the grid is minimal. And on road trips use a Tesla charging station which will consistently work.
My GF likes her Tesla as she charges from home and drives no further than 140 miles per day. After 1 year of ownership she has yet to use a charge station.
Do EV owners leave the family in the car at charging stations for 30 or more minutes? Fuel powered vehicles usually leave the family in the car for the two minutes to fill up. EV charging videos only show the driver at the charge station.
You drive an EV. You live in 'green' Washington State. You commute via a Ferry Boat. Today when you drive on the Ferry, they park you and your EV in the middle of the tunnel. During the crossing your EV battery being damaged catches fire. The crew sprays foam and water on it but the fire will not go out until the lithium inside the battery is consumed. As the Ferry reaches the destination the fire continues to rage having ignited the inside of the ship. Fortunately there are no casualties but the ship is a total loss. The Ferry System refuses to ban EVs since that would be "non inclusive" and "not diverse".
Windmills & solar panels don't generate enough power to even cover their own manufacture, so I'm sure they'd be perfect for charging EVs! A better solution: get rid of 'renewable energy' devices (which actually require huge amounts of petroleum products) and get rid of EVs!
Say a charging station had a 1 Mwatt supply. 4 cars could charge at 250 Kwatts, but 10 cars would get only 100 Kwatts. When I built my house, the utility asked why I was putting in such a large supply. it's 50 Kwatts.
@@drewthompson7457 @drewthompson7457 Okay? That didn't answer my question but thanks for sharing. I' asking why they would wire the chargers in series, and not parallel, especially since they are so expensive. Wiring in series means that if one suffers with a problem the rest do as well. Also, cool. A 50KW charger sounds nice. Can I ask how much you paid for a 50KW? Thanks.
Sorry, but you are misleading people if you say that EVs do NOT benefit the environment. 94% of their power is still coming from good, old fashioned fossil fueled power plants. And, the environmental impact in manufacturing them is tremendous.
I like Elon Musk's approach, it is a common sense one in the overall picture: going at a steady pace, but seemingly in order. He has shown to get predictibly were he is going. I believe, despite Elon's effort, that there should be more order BUT with flexibility in the EV's hardware and software, more standardization. But Bye-den never backup Elon in good faith, he just did it occasionally just because Elon was a step ahead of the Chinese competition. Bye-den always favored in his heart more the Chinese competition than the national brands or any other Western brand for that matter, many would believe. I think batteries should be swappable, and that there should be a standard for portable batteries as well. My humble opinion.
@HRHolm-bi6zu I don't need to refute anything. I just need to say that I drive an EV and on the few occasions that I need to use a public charger I have no problem finding them or charging at them. The criticisms are just noise.
@@brianbarcroft9167 Oh, *you* don't have a problem, what about everyone else? And if the criticism is just noise, let's still see you rebut it point by point. Often the flimsy excuse of those who do not want to (or can't) persuasively debate a matter.
I'll get an EV when kameltoe harris gets rid of her entire motorcade of big SUVs and begins using all EV priuses... not just one or two.... but the entire motorcade. If she is so Gung ho on promoting EVs then lead by example Kameltoe.

Monday: Its winter, temps got into the 20's last night. Oops, you 'forgot' to charge your EV at your house. If you had not sold your ICE you could have made it to work. Tuesday: Its winter, you drove your EV to work. No charging station at work. End of work day and it's been snowing all day. EV Station hasn't shoveled the snow so no charging. Gridlock going home. EV needs extra battery to heat the inside of the car and the battery itself. They find you frozen in your EV halfway home. Good news, you died 'Green' and stopped polluting.
EV cars lithium batteries, like any other lithium batteries loses the ability to fully charge over time. That means eventually the EV owner will not be able to get a full "tank" meaning they are not getting what they paid for. The battery will have to be replaced $$$ knocking off any savings on gasoline.
Having owned many gas cars myself, you are lucky to get 200k miles out of them without a major repair…. A Tesla will make 200k on a battery and more ….many have reached 400k and some have recently hit 1 million miles.
@@turbobird2000 They must have hit 1 million miles somewhere with great charging station support. In the U.S. that still lacking greatly. I wonder how many tire (tyre) replacements since they generally do not last much more than 10K to 15K, because of the weight of the vehicle.

Why could they not just sort all the EV problems out, before they tried to create a market for them?
Every new tech has issues they're corrected over time
The EV cycle is slowing down because most people bought the EV as a second car and have a home to charge overnight. The market is very selective and don't even mention buying a used EV!
It's coming. EV buyers will have to fork out a disposal fee when buying similar to the one on bottles and cans.
When discussing the feasibility of EVs, the fact that they are not an environmentally beneficial move.
I would be in a constant state of fear in case l got technical problems while charging, l hear of travellers encountering difficulties with bank cards etc. But l don't have an exploding vehicle.
Gas cars catch fire 10x more than electric get real
Selling fuel has a high enough profit margin to allow for the overhead of those conveniences. Re-selling electricity doesn't.
Electronic engineering is a precision engineering design product.... to put 4 human inside a BOV product is dangerously high risk... good luck.
All these people that fell for the gimmic obviously don't think for themselves. Manufactured mentalities.
Never ever going to get it. Never E V it’s all a lie nothing can compete with a gasoline engine
But..but...but.. the sky will fall in ten years if we don't go 100% renewable....
If I were you, I would go after the true environmental impact of EVs.
Not to mention, how to fix roads from extra wear from weight of ev's on roads and paying for repair with gas taxes!
You forget the people risking their own lives and birth defects to mine lithium and cobalt to sell to the Chinese for the flammable batteries.
The positive impact of the overall ev system are dubious at best. Sorry greenies.
Electric car sounds neat, but we are not ready yet, maybe 20 yrs from now,but not now.
Stupid and dangerous. Nice combo.
It’s called the tesla charging network…..
E.V. is anachronistic for............totally frustrating useless freakin technology!!!!!! Oh and did I say the most "Dog ugly!" (Sorry Fido and Biscuits) style of car design or lack of it!
In all truthfulness, mes amis, ALL EV'S, vehicles of a Fool's Paradise, are but a fanciful dream...a Wet Dream.
What a mess. My hybrid keeps me away from all of that.
I am so glad that I have a zero emissions non energy using shopping cart.
I don't like walking for gas with gas can and sure won't like pushing the car to charger. So they can keep it not practical.
EV charged up fools. Half flat when making decisions.
Throw your smart phone out, they are spying on you….
Just stop buying them job done
As soon as he said, "environmental benefits of EVs" I knew this guy was a quack.
LOL. Positive spin on a nightmare.
Wow only 45 minutes to a full tank, I mean full charge. My gas tank is fully charged, I mean filled to maximum, in about three minutes.
Sitting In The Car while Wait to Charge
STUPIDITY is INFINITE
You don't need to compete for spots with Uber (Eats) drivers? When a blogger from Australia went to Cal. to experiance 'good' infrastructure, he had that problem and had to return his rental with low battery.
Issue #1, meth addicts “Harvesting” the charging cables to scrap for the copper.
The answer to the electrical power shortage to charging stations is simple. Require these stations to use renewable energy only.
Windmills & solar panels don't generate enough power to even cover their own manufacture, so I'm sure they'd be perfect for charging EVs! A better solution: get rid of 'renewable energy' devices (which actually require huge amounts of petroleum products) and get rid of EVs!
How about self charging technology or Portable solar chargers which is in use by a retail store Woolworths delivery vehicles in CapeTown South Africa
A 50 kw solar charger isn't really portable.
No EV for me!
Why would they link the charging stations in series? Maybe they do, but that sounds idiotic. Also, it's another easily resolvable issue.
Thanks.
Don’t worry a fire truck is on the way! It should be charged in about 11 hours
Go sit next your car and wait an hour + before you can go on. Oh ok. 🤣
The most important reason for not going EV...
In an emergency or war... You will be stuck, right where you are..!
And they use what to pump gas from the tank in the ground?
@@turbobird2000 We can use gas powered generators to pump the gas out of the underground tanks...
Gas prices vary widely
The last time I went to fill up I couldn’t get the payment card to work
Most of the EV charging stations you show are not busy
UAW blog site?
Um, I would expect that at least some electric vehicles *are* built by union workers, although I am not sure about Tesla.
There are no stupid EVs, just stupid people who own them!
So, they are failing everywhere are they? How come I'm not aware of any then?
Looks like you may well be aware now. Let's see you refute some of the points made here about the charging station shortcomings, then. We're waiting.
My son just bought an EV...we'll see how he likes it a year from now...
👍👍
I'll get an EV when kameltoe harris gets rid of her entire motorcade of big SUVs and begins using all EV priuses... not just one or two.... but the entire motorcade. If she is so Gung ho on promoting EVs then lead by example Kameltoe.
BAN EVS.
Poor sod
An EV can suit some people's needs. But so far, not mine.
@@drewthompson7457 Because you are a typical uncaring greedy entitled twat that screws up the planet and doesn't give a damn about anybody but yourself..
An EV burns through thd ground, so this could blow ip THD whole station.
The only reason people buy evs either have money to burn or they are trying to hide the guilt of leaving the fan on when they are not at home.
Just add not being able to charge at home due to insurance and sky high kw/h from capitalism.
This shows richer people are not Smarter people.
Self-charging hybrids is the only answer to this nonsense.
"I'm saving the planet by driving an electric vehicle!"
Uh, oh, grid down! You're really not going anywhere now, fool.
No thank you its a good idea buts thats all it is at the moment
msg on phone.... this is your tesla auto . batteries are on fire. what now ????
