I’m a bit split on this fight. Although I agree with their statement that Mario has a far greater variety of power ups that can cartoonishly counter whatever sonic has, the way the fight actually plays out, doesn’t represent the powers they do use accurately. Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t the superstar power up only last about 10 seconds? In this fight it lasted over 30 seconds of pure invincibility. And conversely, Personics to turn into any of his forms he needs 50 rings which means he should have at least 50 seconds to use the form. So no matter how you look at it sonic should’ve had invincibility for far longer than Mario did meaning he could just outlast the plumber when they’re two forms clash. Again, I do think Mario would win just because there’s no way for sonic to counter power up so that can literally turn you into a gold coin. But I think the way Mario would win with ultimately have to be a victory like that. Edit: with all that being said sonic was an absolute dick in this video so I do not mind that he got his ass rightfully beat. I’m just saying Hyper Sonic versus Superstar Mario should not be a competition. They may both be invincible, but even at its lowest and hypersonic would last roughly 5 times as long.

Well remember, the animations are generally not meant to be directly accurate to the fight. It wasn't accurate, but it was entertaining enough for me not to really care about it. I still think Mario wins to this day: even if we factor in Sonic's extended super form, Mario has far more invicibility power ups than just the Power Star, and can carry multiple Power Stars with him anyways. As for the raw powerscaling, at the end of the day you can get both of them to roughly similar levels depending on the arguments, and it really isn't a constructive argument. I don't think Sonic fans would be satisfied with Sonic winning purely off of some arbitrary number that was somehow agreed upon to be accurate which has no narrative meaning or significance.

btw, idk why death battle does this, but super sonic form using the chaos emeralds doesn't need coins to stay in the form, that's only when he uses rings themselves to go into his super form, the chaos emeralds have infinite energy giving sonic an infinite source of his super form, also him using the NORMAL chaos emeralds doesn't put him into his hyper form, he needs the super emeralds to do that, which is the chaos emeralds empowered by the master emerald, they don't know what they be doing when it comes to sonic they just make it that whoever they likes more wins almost all the time, and it pisses me off cus they think they right about this
