Decapitated is one of the few bands whose music will make me involuntarily punch holes in the fucking drywall. Cancer Culture is easily in my top five albums of 2022 so far.

I had no idea that Decapitated had a direct connection to cancel culture, let alone for something THAT severe. All I'll say is, innocent until proven guilty. Definitely cranking this on early in the morning when it comes out

@@Jesusblowsme666 Not really. The DA dropped the charges when the accuser didn't want to go to trial. Maybe it was because the band had plenty of witnesses including the entire Thy Art Is Murder lineup. Getting cold feet when the accuser party brings witnesses and receipts screams "I made it all up", and it robbed them of a formal acquittal, but the point is, that case against Decapitated is dead and buried.

Decapitated has been one of my favorite death metal bands for a long time and I think that this new album Cancer Culture is very good. To me it feels like a continuation of Organic Hallucinosis.

  • @branlopgar

One of the things that I noticed was, Decapitated reinvented their sound yet again, adding influences from Machine Head. Makes sense since Vogg *is* a member of Machine Head, so of course Robb would fit right in with Decapitated as well. And yes. This is probably the angriest we have heard Decapitated sounding, and even when the lyrics might need some extra polish (no pun intended), it is one of the things I have always liked about them: their songwriting always feels honest even if it doesn't look "metal", which is the most metal thing you can do. Write however you feel like.
Decapitated won't write another Nihility or another Organic Hallucinosis, but at this point, they don't need it. What they needed was to inject adrenaline to their sound, and this Cancer Culture did just that

You don't like the meshugga pantera vibes on from.organic onward? I don't think they should be called death metal. The negation was the last death metal album they put out. And the huge demo release last year. I would just call them groove metal or just metal . Organic was the best imo.

There is definitely some pros and cons with this record. I’ll say I think that this is a very good record. The case between them and the Women is beyond fucked but, I really like the grooves, production on this record. Most of the Lyrics I find interesting for most part
Although The title track way a missed opportunity. It came off way more as a unhinged rant rather than a critique of the toxic aspects of “cancel culture” and how severe/horrifying False sexual assault claims are and the endless amounts consequences it can have on people/society.
Other than that thought this is a solid record

Its just generally lame to listen to a death metal band whine about cancel culture, even if it is Decapitated. Like, why do you care, the continued existence of the genre you play is proof that cancel culture REALLY doesn't affect y''all, because if it were up to most politicians and religious figures, death metal would definitely not still be a thing.

    • @user-fq7rt3pb6u

@@themetalmeltdownofficial Yeah but not as lame as a death metal band that actually participates in cancel culture (cough, cough, Venom Prison)...The lyrics were written by the poet and journalist Jarek Szubrycht and they have a lot of depth. This was the same guy that wrote all the lyrics on Carnival is Forever. Decapitated has done this before (A poem about a old prison man is a Charles Manson poem) I don't think the song even has to do with the unjust imprisonment they suffered, I think it has more to do with the pod people that participate in cancel culture then act like cancel culture is just a exaggeration from the non group think crowd...But that's just my take.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna like this one. I thought the title-track was an absolute RIPPER in spite of what I thought was some of their laziest and frankly cringiest lyrics because of the killers riffs and blast beats. I thought Hello Death was a complete tragedy because it's a technical masterpiece but then completely ruined by that awful and out-of-place feature that was so jarring and bolted on. Just a Cigarette also did very little for me and I'm not sure about those lyrics either honestly. But I caught these guys live for the first time a couple of months ago and they were absolutely brutal and had probably the most insane crowd I've ever been in. So I'll definitely be checking the LP out, but I'm managing my expectations to avoid too much disappointment, given how consistent they've been up to this point.

I didn't have any expectations for the record and I lost a lot of hope when the initial announcement and first single came out. It wasn't the most disappointing record released this year, but it definitely ranks among some of the most forgettable. A lot of raw edge and blistering sections that I remember so fondly on their classic records is completely lost in the majority of this album. Without even going into the questionable lyrics and themes, there aren't any parts that I think hit a high anywhere near Anticult or Blood Mantra, let alone Nihility or Organic Hallucinosis. The features weren't even anything special, Robb Flynn didn't elevate Iconoclast much and Hello Death had some cool moments but ultimately uninspiring despite the song suiting Tatiana Shmayluk more than the aforementioned feature. Hours as Battleground was the only real track that piqued my interest and felt like a progression in their sound from Anticult, otherwise the rest of the record is a waste of time (unless you want to laugh at the poor songwriting, then be my guest).

I can’t really knock them for writing about something that has effected them, but they could’ve really went In a more honest introspective, and not so on the nose direction. Instead it feels like they haven’t gone through anything if you look at the lyrics alone. I imagine they felt pretty hopeless for a time especially being detained out of their own country, and I wish they delved more into those aspects instead of a rant that anybody could’ve spouted off anywhere really.

Even if they are innocent, i rather not take the chance and continue being a fan and then find out that they ARE guilty. Not saying that they are, im just saying i rather not take that chance.
