    This provides an art drawing supplies review of the Sakura pigma micron drawing pens, brush tip pens, and graphic pens that I use for my pen and ink drawings. I also compare Sakura pens with other brands, such as Copic multiliner, Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens, Prismacolor premier drawing pens

    Hope y'all know that Sakura Micron Pigmas CAN be refilled - no need to toss & replace if the nib is still OK . . . look for the instructions on You Tube - I tried it & it works GREAT!

    Just got back into doing ink drawing after 27 yrs I picked up what I thought would be good pens. Now I'm glad I did. I had a 50/50 shot. For a pad I purchased one with mixed media paper. Looks like I should have gotten a Bristol pad after watching RUclips.
    Thanks for sharing.

    It's jun/2024... and my minimalist kit of fineliners (UNI pin Fine Line) to learn drawing with Pen & Ink is:
    - 0.03
    - 0.05
    - 02
    - BR
    These have worked out for outilne, detail, filling and lettering. My ECD to doodle on the go are the 0.03 and the 02.
    Thank you for such detailed explanation about the possibilities of the different fineliners. 👍

    I like the Copics partially because I find the ink fade less when you erase over them, I like that I can replace the nib and ink separately, and sometimes the sakura pens can bleed a bit if you colour over them with copic markers. but the sakura is great otherwise, just my 2 cents

  • @ciannacoleman5125

    I just started drawing with pens thanks to a class I am taking, I really like microns and have a 01, 03, 05 but am trying to use up my Pitt F&S since I don’t like the feel of them (dryer and feel cheaper) although I really like the brush. I was using my 01 for in-bible notes but traded it out for a 005, I may occasionally borrow it from my bible bag but 01 is as small as I need right now for sketching.

    I'm going through Copics like there's no tomorrow. Both the Multiliners (0.05, 0,1) and the Copic Sp's (0.03, 0.05, 0.1) last me 10 hours at the most. I wonder if these will be any better?
    I've got a Rotring Tikky 0.1, but I don't really get on with it. It's too heavy and dark for my work.

    recently i have started with color pencils. not crayola but not prismacolor by any means.but to outline i used a charcoal sketch pen to do the outline and all the color has ugly black or gray in there colors. If i draw with the outline and go over it with micron, can i erase the pencil lines once it dries and the ink wont smear? then once that is done and i color it in with no problems of the colors becoming ugly because of the black ink?

    I use Copic multiliners at the moment because they are simply easier to find over here in the Netherlands. What I found however is that they tend to bleed just a little bit whenever you pause even a second mid-line. It depends a bit on what paper I use, but I can't use my heavy (expensive) paper all the time. Going to try out those Microns some time soon. Also awaiting delivery of some Tombow and Zebra Pocket Brush Pens. I never considered myself a collector of anything realy, but pens and brushes is getting kind of addictive.

    • @alphonsodunn
      @alphonsodunn  11 лет назад +2

      I agree.. I find the same issue whenever I use them. They're Ok but I just find microns are more versatile and fluid across whatever drawing surface I use them on. When you try them let me know how you like 'em

    ***** In your experience, how long do these last? I got a pack of them and I don't press too firmly, but it seems like the .01 - .03's are already running out of ink and I havent completed one drawing with them yet. I do trace over pencil with them, is this something to be avoided? Any thoughts on pirsmacolor premiere pens? Any feedback is appreciated!

    • @alphonsodunn
      @alphonsodunn  9 лет назад

      Well I guess it depends on how large your drawings are or the degree of markmaking. I have never used a dedicated set for an extended period of time so i cant give an honest estimate unfortunately. But i get a fair amount of use from them. prismacolors also give me fair usage

    When these pens are used for inking graphite drawings directly, do the pen lines get erased a bit when you erase the graphite lines?

But I got to say, i did use this liner, the 005, on top of a drawing that I had colored with Prismacolors, and noticed that the liner didn't work on top of an area that had some color. The basic 4- tip set ( 0.1, 0.5, .1 graphic and brush) is ~10-15$ , pretty affordable for a guy like me who lives in Venezuela, lol.
