Hollins Cross is the lowest point on the ridge between Mam Tor and Lose Hill on the Great Ridge. It was also a traditional route from Castleton to Edale, until a church was constructed in Edale, Coffins were taken over Hollins Cross to Hope Church. So inherited the nickname 'Coffin Road'.
Mam Tor is a 517m (1,696ft) hill near Castleton in the High Peak. Its name means 'Mother Hill', also known as 'Shivering Mountain'. At the base of the Tor and nearby are 4 show caves: Blue John Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, Peak Cavern & Treak Cliff Cavern, where lead, Blue John, Fluorspar & other minerals were once mined.

Another fantastic walk... glad you didn't encounter too many people up on Mam Tor! Have a great week, Jenny 😊
