  • The town was named after William Hort Levin, a director of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company.
Levin is a great place to base yourself when exploring the wider Horowhenua area. With the Tasman Sea coast on one side and the Tararua Ranges on the other, Levin can offer a wide range of outdoor adventures. Venture to mountains, lakes, rivers and beaches are all within 20 minutes' drive of each other.
Lake Horowhenua is a sanctuary for birds. To the south of Levin you will find Lake Papaitonga which is surrounded by native forest. To the east of Levin you will find the majestic Tararua Ranges and trekking / tramping tracks at Makahika. # New Zealand Drive # Visit New Zealand # NZ Driving # Travel to New Zealand # NZ Virtual Tour # Visit Levin
