This video essay explore the films and influence of Charlie Chaplin. The first real recognisable cinematic icon and perhaps one of the filmmakers who transformed film from a novelty to an art form. Modern Times is one of those MUST SEE FILMS that really acts as a love letter to the films of the silent era.
    Films:
Making a Living (1914) - First Chaplin on screen performance
Kid Auto Races at Venice (1914) - First appearance as ‘The Tramp'
The Jazz Singer (1927) - The first Talkie
    One A.M (1916)
    The Rink (1916)
    The Immigrant (1917)
    The Adventurer (1917)
    The Kid (1921)
    The Gold Rush (1925)
    The Circus (1928)
    City Lights (1931)
    Modern Times (1936)
    The Great Dictator (1940)
    Limelight (1952)
Chaplin (1992) - Robert Downie Jr in Chaplin Biopic
    Music:
Smile (Modern times ending scene version) - Intro song
This is my song - Charlie Chaplin
Fkj & Tom Misch - Losing My Way - Outdo song

This video is a 'RE-UPLOAD' of a video that was completely muted by copyright. I still wanted to have it on the channel and not have it lost forever, so iv re-edited parts and removed certain songs, and removed the old version. Enjoy. If your interested in the original version with the intended final song then watch on Vimeo here: vimeo.com/173620444

Shouldn’t Chaplin be in public domain by now?

I think it was the song specifically which YT didn't like, seemed to get any with the Chaplin footage. Such a hassle making videos like that though because you don't know whats gonna get flagged up.

lol, Iv got something else in the works, but I made a decision for this next phase of the channel to try and made videos of quality rather than just churn them out so thats why its taking a little longer between videos. Hopefully that will be better in the long run.

I can't remember where I got that song. I know I took lots of Chaplin short films and used the audio, plus I used the youtube audio library at times for songs, but by the sounds of that one it was probably from an early short film of Chaplins.

Ugh! This was wonderful…until you used the mundane Johnny Depp to describe a profoundly talented genius! Why not invite Keanu Reeves next time?
