Hola. Enjoyed this video, as usual. There's something about beach towns and fishing villages that I love. I see you recorded it at your favorite time of day, in the late afternoon. I think I saw on the clock near the anchor (really nice) that it was 8:12. It seems like people stay at the beach pretty late there. I love the beach in the late afternoon. So relaxing. It's getting pretty close to the end of the summer season here. The official end is on our Labor Day holiday, which is in the first week of September. Schools open, and the weather slowly gets cooler. I was wondering, since the weather stays warmer there, does the 'summer season' end there, or do people continue going to the beach etc just like it's summer? Seems like there was some type of show being held at the castle at 6:07 with all the chairs there. The promenade here is absolutely beautiful. The classical railing along the edge really stands out. What a great place to take a stroll, and I noticed lots of cafes too. Good thing the brakes on your bike squeak! Lots of people out for a walk.😅 They work like a horn. 😄 The town seems like it's mostly local people that live not too far away? Definitely different than some of the other towns with lots of tourists. Some of the apartment buildings here look a little older, but the view from those balconies must be amazing, especially at sunrise. The chapel was beautiful. Was the priest celebrating a Mass? If so, what a great idea to hold a Mass outside in the summer. At 26:00, I think I saw some carnival rides? It sort of reminded me of the seaside summer town where I spent the winter in Maine. Impressive sculpture at 27:00, and the marina too. Always a great closing shot. 🙂 Oh yeah, I voted for the beach at sunset thumbnail, even though the ship was good too. 😄 Take care.
Hola! How's it going? You're right, this summer season is almost over (this year I have the feeling that it has gone by very quickly), although weather here is actually still good until the beginning of October, even later, and people still enjoy the beach at that time. In fact, just yesterday I saw a tv news that said that more and more Spaniards are taking holidays in September because prices are cheaper, the weather is good and there are not so many crowds on the beaches. Although generally the end of August here is also the end of the summer season (or rather, the summer vacation season) because the new school year also begins. So I hope you enjoyed the summer there. Have you made a trip to Cape Cod this summer? I'm glad you enjoyed it. You had already told me on another occasion that you like fishing villages, so I knew you would find it interesting. I suppose there must be a lot of difference between the fishing villages there compared to the ones here. The truth is that the Mediterranean fishing villages here (like this one) are quite different from those in the north of Spain, which I have the impression are more similar to those in New England. Also, in my opinion, Garrucha is a clear example of a small fishing village that has undergone a great change due to tourism in the 60s (surely those apartments you mention are from that time). Unfortunately, there is little left of what the village was like before the tourist development, they were probably simple one-story houses. You are right, I chose my favorite time to film the tour. Besides, if I had filmed before, my gopro or I would have fainted from the heat 😄🥵 Yeah, many people stay on the beach until the sun sets, even later. As you say, it is very relaxing. Yeah, according to what I read on the poster when I arrived at the castle, there was going to be a colloquium on the history of the region, specifically it was going to be about old foundries in the area that used the port to transport metal. You are absolutely right about the brakes!! 🤣 Whenever I rent a bike, they give me the one with the loudest brakes in the whole shop. Although as you say, I save myself from having to honk the horn... so from now on, when I rent a bike, I will be the one who demands that it has the loudest brakes 😝 Regarding the chapel, you are right, there was a mass being celebrated at that moment (thank goodness I was carrying the bike in my hand and didn't need to use the brake 😅) That chapel is very small and there probably won't be enough space inside to celebrate it with all the tourists who come to mass, and, as you say, in summer it is more appropriate to celebrate it outside. Yeah, you had several carnival rides next to the port since the local festivals were celebrated there in those days. I agree, that sculpture of the virgin impresses in the place where it is placed (it is the patron saint of Garrucha and of the fishermen) Thanks for voting 😉👍 On this occasion I had doubts about which of the two covers to put. I liked both for different reasons, so I decided to do the survey to see which one you preferred and choose the winner... but between the two surveys I did (in Spanish and English) there was a tie!! 😆 So finally I decided that it is RUclips who chooses (I don't know if you knew that now RUclips gives the option to put several covers and choose the one that has more acceptance among users) Thanks as always for your visit. Nos vemos!! Take care
@@WalkingSpain Yes, yes, this summer has gone by so quickly! It seems like yesterday that I moved back to Boston from Maine, and now the summer is almost over. I did go down to Cape Cod when I first moved back in late May, for 2 weeks, but I haven't been back to the Cape since then. Unfortunately, I still haven't bought a new car, so although I can get down there by bus or train (on weekends), and by fast ferry, I haven't been back again. I think you're right about the fishing villages in N. Spain being more like New England. In fact, many of the fishermen on Cape Cod are of Portuguese heritage. I would guess the coast of Portugal is similar to N. Spain, so maybe that's what drew them to Cape Cod and coastal New England over the years. Take care.
