  • In this video we will experimentally determine the Idss and Vgs(off) values for ten MPF102 JFETS. This data is averaged and used to create transconductance and drain curves for a typical device. We finish up by using an online equation graphing application to produce plots of the resulting transconductance curves for the JFETs .

Can you recommend some readily available JFETs?

You might try the BF256, J111, J109 and J112 N-Channel and J175 P-Channel. They’re cheap and places like DigiKey have them. There are lots on Amazon too but I don’t know about their authenticity.

Do current Fet's in tiny SOT323 package also deviate that much?

The MPF102 has an especially wide variation of parameters on paper but I rarely see any with Idss over 10 mA. Most of the newer JFETs have a narrower spread.

@@Electronics4Guitar i have quite a few breadboards, but i hate them. always these weak connections you gotta debug. i use Fallstad, than i design pcb and make it, eurorack synth modules.
