    If the different operating regions of a BJT or bipolar junction transistor ever confuses you or you get them mixed up, you're not alone.     Just began to learn about electronics and was building a breadboard circuit that I found in one of the books I have been reading. But have been puzzled for DAYS as to why the circuit I created using a 2N2222 transistor allowed current to flow freely from Collector to Emitter no matter what voltage I put on the Base. After watching your video I now suspect that my Vce is in fact in the Break Down region! You are the first and only one who has pointed this out after researching this issue for days! Thank you!

    is there a upper "limit" for base current also in the active region, meaning a further increase of base current will not amplify the collector current anymore? in this case can we call it also a saturation?

      You eventually hit a point where you're in breakdown region, you're literally destroying the BJT, and everything stops working linearly or even predictably. But up until that point, as you increase that base current, it will continue to drop the apparent collector-emitter resistance.

      Hi Helena! Sadly, not really. Both chemistry and physics lay the foundation of understanding of what we learn in our circuits, electromagnetics, and semiconductor classes, but our experience was that we used what our professors told us to use but now most of use our EE textbooks as references if we have questions. But I haven't opened my chemistry textbook since college and haven't used my physics textbook in probably eight years. 😬

    I am too weak in MATLAB but cannot find such easy to understand and full course on internet.

      I'm not familiar with any full courses, but Kushal has created some tutorials based on Scilab (an open source Matlab clone). They're not extensive (though he is planning on expanding them) but they're a fantastic introduction: www.circuitbread.com/tutorials/introduction-to-scilab

      If you see any of our videos where Josh is writing on paper and you can see his handwriting, I think that's pretty good evidence that you don't need to be able to draw or even write legibly to be an EE. 😂 Doesn't hurt, though!

    The confusing part is that the active zone is not called the saturation zone. You keep increasing VCE but IC barely increases. That's the definition of saturation right there, but no.

    At 4:15 you say "as our collector-emitter voltage "INCREASES", you see a pretty rapid increase in our collector current". From the graph it appears that as the collector-emitter voltage DECREASES, we get rapid increase in our collector current. Did you mis-speak here????
