- Megan Tesch, MD, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, examines changes in contraceptive use among young women with early breast cancer in a study (NCT01647607). Contraceptive patterns changed, with highly effective methods increasing post-diagnosis, while moderately effective hormonal methods declined. Many continued using less effective methods, despite discussions with providers. Factors influencing these choices included age, desire for more children, and provider engagement. The findings emphasize the importance of early, comprehensive contraceptive counseling tailored to this patient population. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
