I just went from Pleasant Hill to Windsor. Charlie made me want to do it again. Fire in the night, flowers in the morning. Wow!
My wife said the bed were beyond comfortable. The air conditioner.
A blessing.
Absolutely, you need the right gear. Not just to ride. But, to be on a journey.
Keep making these videos longer the better!! Just getting started I'm from Cincinnati so you're helping me a lot. Thanks
@@JasonMartin-od6mk I certainly plan too! Just got back from riding the New River Trail, I’ll be getting that footage up hopefully this week. Plan on hitting the C&O and GAP at the end of August
Can't wait to see the adventure...is peanut butter and tortillas on the menu LOL you were the fist I saw make those,I I'm a truck driver and started carrying them in my food stash works great to fend off the hungries !! Be safe and have a good time !
@@davidalden5697 yep, I got them already packed up lol
Glad your back and geeling better!
@@james-t7w4p thanks! The hardest part is setting around not being able to do any thing
Have a great trip!
dude, i done the new river trail several times. its way awesome. one of my favorites. talk about surgeries, i had a hernia surgery 2 years ago and it did not go well, so now i have to have another hernia surgery whenever that will be. and there is the old bad worn out shoulder that needs surgery or shoulder replacement. i keep working out on it and taking muscle rubs and creams on it and taking nsaids for it. And i was doing so well on the bike. Now 4 days ago i got covid, and am very sick and at home not doing any biking!!
@@princepage632 thats definitely a run of bad luck. I never had to have surgery for my shoulder, but I use to have issues with it. Come to find out I just had tight lats and after starting to stretch them my issue went away.
I hope you get the hernia worked out, It’s hard not being able to enjoy your hobbies.
Think I’ll have any issues finding places to hang my hammock?
@@TheBane1979 oh i workout like crazy, and i bike a lot. but this hernia doesn't really bother me, its just gross to look at. iuts like having a golf ball in your crotch area. it sux but i will get another surgery on it at some point. as far as the shoulder goes, not wanting surgery on it at this time. yes it hurts all the time, but recovery from that surgery is a year long. yeah i use to be able to bench press 375lbs. now that i have gotten old i don't do any kind of heavy weight anymore. lots of push ups and pull ups and dips. As far as covid goes trying to stay out of the hospital. Anyhow good luck on your trip
I really want to do New River. Just haven't been able to get away long enough to make it happen. Looking forward to your videos from there.
@@joyfultrails definitely watch my video and let me know what ya think. I’m gearing up and trying to get back into the swing of things
@@TheBane1979 You mentioned getting a new camera. That’s always fun!
@@joyfultrails yea, I’m hoping I’ll be able to get a lot of critters on video that I normally miss. It’ll stay mounted to my bars, just a push and it’s recording in a second even when it’s off.
I noticed there’s not a lot of content on this trail about the campgrounds, so I’m gonna try to make sure I get them as I go too. If/when I do the greenbrier again I’ll be doing the same, documenting the camp spots. I always watch for them and rarely find them on videos
Hello Bane, I really enjoy all your videos! What do you carry for emergencies such as tools and bike parts? Also, self defense tools, after all, I’m sure you come across sketchy situations!
@@edwardgignac8953 I just carry what tools I need for the bike, which is mainly Allen wrenches, an extra tube and a few oddd and ends.
I usually carry a can of mace. I’ve been by some sketchy areas but I’ve never had an issue with people. I’ve had to use the mace once on a really aggressive dog though. (Usually you can tell which ones are just dogs barking and chasing, and which ones are actually aggressive)
I added a RoadRunner 5L handlebar bag that straps/hangs from the handlebar
@@pppjourneyonabike5992 I got so much on my bars I don’t think I’d have room. But the top of the front rack is wide open at this point. Might be good for some of the tripods I carry
@@TheBane1979only takes up two 3/4" strap width.
Hey Bane, I just has surgery myself that’s kept me off the bike for the last month and just back riding again. Got that same Gorewear rain gear and I’ve hardly used mine as well. When I have it’s seemed to work great. Nice set-up and have a good trip.
@@kmccarr I hope you recover quickly! The hardest part is not doing any thing long enough to recover. The bike setup is a work in progress…but it’s definitely getting there now
@@TheBane1979 I had part of a finger amputated in a stupid accident at home. I just ordered the Tailfin Aeropack and some 10L mini panniers. I’ve been eyeing them for a long time and since I got camping gear I need more space. Surprisingly I pack pretty light for bikepacking. It seems the more space you have the more you take, although you RUclips creators have some extra equipment.
@@kmccarr I’d be super light if I stopped filming lol
@@kmccarr ouch!
MrBigChris was here
A balanced load seems to roll easier...
@@pppjourneyonabike5992 I had to lift the bike up over some trees on the e Katy, it was bad. And definitely some issues with the front tire sliding in the stone when turning sharp.
The idea of lifting it up over guard rails or fences that unbalanced isn’t good! And these bags also come off and on a lot easier than the Velcro straps on the other one
Two questions. I have a problem with my bike wanting to fall over when I'm getting stuff in and out of my bags so 1) Is that an after-market kickstand because it looks sturdier than mine? 2) Are those Arkel bags quick-connect because I like to put my bags in the tent with me?
@@cheezy-rider yep, they connect really easily. And yea, the bike didn’t come with a kickstand, but has a spot to mount a kickstand. It’s after market, and it’s also adjustable. Depending on the load on the bike, sometimes it needs to be longer
you really missed your calling as the announcer for the price is right. "come on down"
@@Nonameselected lol, maybe I need to apply lol
Also. Don't you cook, and didn't you feel like that was quality content? lol. I did. Thanks.
@@cheezy-rider dang it, I was in a hurry editing it and forgot lol
I haven’t been heating any thing up. I’ll go over in on this trip
