If a dermatologist is saying all those negative things about Vaseline - they don’t know the facts. It’s called slugging today and it does all the things mentioned: keeps in moisture and thus plumping the skin. It’s widely known and used today also and most night creams contain petrolatum and silicone to do exactly this. If you have dry hands, use a hydrating cream and put Vaseline over - this will make a huge difference, like when using on your face.
I know, I thought it was strange that this video was knocking Vaseline. I use vaseline for wounds and skin care, and it has nothing but positive benefits.
Yes, you can actually use Vaseline on your face as long as you aren’t allergic to it. Dermatologist, Andrea Dray, has had videos on this. At night, it’s called, “ Slugging”. It Is also safe on eye lids. So Betty Davis & Marilyn weren’t wrong. ❤
I am 65 years old and I don't have wrinkles, but I avoided the sun like the plague. I hate getting hot and sweaty and that's what happens when I'm in the sun for any length of time. I just use dove soap, a puff buff, and a good moisturiser.
I use Ivory soap, Vaseline and have been dermaplaning (shaving)for years! I am 53 and stay out of the sun. I don’t have any wrinkles and still get compliments on my skin. I am not a beautiful woman but my skin is beautiful and soft. The dermaplaning helps leave your skin smooth for makeup which I don’t use much unless it’s a special occasion. I do not pluck hairs as it causes large pores. I don’t have any large pores at all. It’s one of few things I like about myself is my skin.
Hi, I don't understand the dermaplaning, what part of the face are you shaving, do you mean literally shaving? But yes Marilyn used Vaseline and slabbed it on her skin and she had the most gorgeous hydrated skin, also plunged her face in a bowl of ice cubes
This narrator just thinks it's weird. He needs to get out more as well as get his facts straight; vaseline doesn't cause one's face to break out. That's caused by hormones and a bad diet.
My mother used it on her face. I thought it was gross because her face always looked shiny. I use powder all the time as I'll do anything to avoid that oily look.

@@donnafromnyc There’s nothing more completely oil than Vaseline. It says right on the container, “Petroleum Jelly.” Use it on your heels to moisturize them. Use it in your car axils.

Jean Harlow had scarlet fever in her teens which damaged her kidneys. I believe her mother never let her religious beliefs interfere with Jean's medical treatment. A doctor misdiagnosed Jean's kidneys failing and he made her condition worse. By the time they found out it was kidney failure, it was too late. Bleaching her hair was awful but that didn't contribute to her death.
Marilyn Monroe used Erno Laszlo skincare as well specifically prescribed by him for her as well, still going today. Bette Davis using vaseline on her eyelids was a well known trick in the 1920s she didn't invent it, it was also used over powder to give a younger looking skin and as a highlighter. Eyebrows were also glossed with it. Cologne was used in between shampooing in the hair to mop up grease by using on a cotton ball. Skin was shaved to remove the peach fuzz that would have caught in the powder and not given the skin a good look.
Katharine Hepburn swore by cold baths, too. She used to plunge into the freezing waters around Long Island Sound and take icy swims. She loved icy baths.
Petroleum jelly/vaseline is absolutely safe near the eyes and anywhere on the face unless someone has a specific allergy. Using Vaseline as a barrier at the end of a routine is called “slugging” - it’s absolutely acceptable especially for dehydrated skin or a damaged skin barrier. The fact that you speak as if we haven’t been using Vaseline to remove mascara in a pinch for over a 100 years makes all of this information suspect.
The cold plunge was already part of the health routine of the well to do in the mud 19th century. Many would have a sitz bath filled with water the night before, and with no heat in the house it was ice cold the next day.
Pancake and powder was so popular in the old days. Marilyn applied vaseline before make up as it gave a glow of moisture, looking more like a young person than the older stars with thick powders trying to hide wrinkles.
I used to live by the Max Factor Museum in Hollywood. I went in one day and they gave me a tour on my own, which was pretty cool. I worked as a butcher in Beverly Hills, and Clairol Lipstick bought a small dumpster of clean cut fat from us every week.
Marilyn had her stylist bleach her roots every two weeks. Just the roots, so it didn't damage her hair ends. She also used a heavy conditioning product, according to her stylist.
I had ear cancer surgery a few years ago. My entire ear canal was dismantled. With my ear reattached , the doctors and nurses put lots of Vaseline for weeks on the sutures.
So Bette Davis used petroleum jelly on her eyes. You do realize that's Vaseline right? A product still commonly used by women today, to remove makeup from their "eyes". Don't take this negatively, but is it possible that an adult may have dropped you on your head as an infant?
