literally anyone who's played mario kart enough knows that you can't have max acceleration and max speed. It's either High speed + low acceleration, or low speed + high acceleration.

Note: Do not take this advice on 200cc. You just go so fast, it becomes almost impossible to control it if you focus only on speed stat. Also, if you get hit, you are crippled by the low acceleration stat. On 200cc, focus more on Acceleration and Handling unless you are doing Time Trials.
Personally, I disagree. Once you reach mid game, 2/3 laps, you are so far ahead nothing can get close except blue shells.

for 200 cc races i use Tannoki Mario, roller wheels and either the bowser ship or the biddy buggy cart. the bowser ship looks the coolest so i always use that. don't know why these 2 karts have the same stats though.

For 200 I use: dry bones, comet, off road, hygiene kite,
For 150 (and 100 if the online race happens to choose 100), I use: Dry bowser, Jet Bike, Leaf Tires, Cloud glider.
But since when you are online you never know if you will get 200cc or not, I usually just use my Dry Bowser set.
Playing Mario Kart for years, speed doesn’t really matter. Handling and Turbo is by far the most important by far.

its not always okay to sacrifice acceleration for speed. because you need a high mini turbo stat, or anybody will just power slide past you. You are going to be fast on the ground, but in the water and in the air, you will be horrible with slick wheels and fast cars, sometimes slower than a lightweight. BUT you do weigh a lot and are the fastest on land without turning. Having high speed means you will have less turns to make, usually you don't want to be extremely slow, but not so fast that you have no handling or mini turbo.
also, bikes may not look fast, but when drifting, you are faster than a kart with similar stats.
When I saw this in my suggestion it showed a kart with full speed AND full acceleration. 😠

When I use 150 or 200cc, I usually focus more in acceleration than speed as you can crash into walls. Another point is that with higher acceleration, of you get hit by a shell or something then you don’t have to be very slow for that long.
Also, if you have higher acceleration then other stats like handling and grip increase too which is very useful if you drift. You must pick a light character though

DrePeezy415 DrePeezy415 It depends. If you’re looking for a speed based vehicle then I recommend using something like a Yoshi or Rocket bike with slick of cyber slick wheels. This is better for 50cc and 100cc. But 150cc and 200cc you’re going to crash more so I recommend something more related to acceleration like. If you want to get around tight corners then maybe you should use Mr. Scooty but if you want better control for your car then the Buddy Bug would be best. However, always pick roller wheels or anything related to rolled wheels.
Heavier characters mean you get less acceleration but faster speed so use them for 50cc and 100cc. This could be bowser or wario or Morton.
Lighter characters will give you better handling and acceleration over your vehicle. This is more beneficial for speeds of 150cc and 200cc as you will crash into walls more often. Light chais characters are people like the babies, why guy, toad and more.

His combos are actually not very great, you need a more balanced kart with acceleration and handling. This logic is very neanderthal inspired "BIG WHEEL FAST KART WIN FIRST!"

"You can't really hug the corners as much with a kart"
In my experience, that's not true. The cart slips a bit before it starts drifting, but once you have started drifting, karts can do corners just the same as bike. It takes practice, but learning to drift early so that you don't slip to the outside of a corner will allow you to hug corners as effectively as a bike, while charging up a turbo faster than you can with a bike. The advantage of some bikes are that they don't slip, so you don't need to learn that skill, and karts always keep turning while drifting, whereas some bikes have the ability to go almost straight forward while "drifting", allowing them to get through some larger corners (like in Toad's Turnpike) in a singe drift, getting them a better drift boost in some specific scenarios.
The slipping of the karts only really has an effect on tracks where there are multiple very sharp corners right after each other, wich really is only Koopa city (Neo- Bowser city) and the space station version of Rainbow Road.
For some tracks karts are just better, since they often get better drift boosts in short corners, and on some tracks bikes are better since it is easier to continue a drift through two corners that turn the same direction, allowing you to charge a bigger boost.
I prefer karts, since I get higher lever mini turbos more often, while still being able to hug the inside of corners easily. There are some tracks on wich karts are straight up worse though, but I find karts are better in general.
Your considering Mario Kart 8 stats. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has *different* stats.

Here, I'll sum up the video with my own info:
For kart users: I'd recommend Heavyweight/Biddy Buggy/ Slick, Roller, Leef (Depends on engine class, roller tires for 200cc is recommended) /Any glider.
For bike users: (Outward drift): Heavyweight/ Standard or Mr. Scooty/ Slick, Roller, Leef/ Any glider.
For bike users: (Inward drift) Medium, heavyweight/ Yoshi bike or Sport bike/ Slick/ Any glider.
See, able to sum up 10 minutes of useless facts and filler into a comment someone could read in 30 seconds. You should've had a script like this, and then turned it into a 2 minute video, and would've been fine.
Sean Howland Thank you for clearing more up. Besides acceleration, handling is the other thing needed for 200cc, as in a light character with a smaller vehicle has better handling. With 150cc yes, speed is better and handling doesn’t matter at all really

2 MILLION VIEWS AND THIS IS WHAT U GIVE FOR INFORMATION? Here is a correction to what Eystreem has said. As a "professional" myself and a former World Record holder in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I know that for online play, Time Trials, and Offline Play, there is only one option per CC and drift style. Personally, I use both inward and outward depending on whether I last played Mario Kart Wii or 8 Deluxe.
Here is the best combo for most 150cc Time Trials and all tracks online: Luigi, Pipe Frame, Roller Wheels, Cloud Glider. Amazing Handling and Mini-turbo Stat while having a tiny bit of speed. In Deluxe, Mini-Turbo matters more than Speed.
Here is the best combo for most 200cc Time Trials and all tracks Online: Baby Daisy, Mr Scooty, Roller, Cloud Glider. Highest Handling and Mini-Turbo stat, enabling super high speeds through mini-turbo and less brake-drifting needed due to high Mini-Turbo.
If you prefer inwards drifting:
This is the best inwards drifting combo for both 150cc and 200cc: Any light character (my preference for 150 is toadette [speed stat] and for 200cc is baby daisy [handling stat]) coupled with comet and Roller tires as well as Cloud Glider.
For Time Trials, unless you are trying to set world records, the combos stated above are the most consistent combos for getting good times. However, for world records, you have to see which track you are on and use the MK8DX builder at @t to see what the best combo for each particular track is based on the advanced stats they give there, OR an even easier option: look at what the world record uses right now.
WARNING: YOUR TIME TRIAL OPTIONS ARE NOT THE SAME AS YOUR REGULAR RACE OPTIONS DUE TO THE RNG INVOLVED IN ONLINE RACES. UNLESS YOU PLAN YOUR ITEMS TO DODGE SHOCKS AND RED, GREEN OR BLUE SHELLS, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE SOMETHING WITH FANTASTIC ACCELERATION and anyways mini-turbo is a must, so use the above combinations and you will not regret it.

Speed no longer matters in Deluxe, follow this guide for 8 but not Deluxe, Deluxe only needs mini turbo BC basically Mimi turbo speed is the same for every combination and with the longest mini turbo and the best handling, it will be as if you are going faster than the kart or bike with the most surf and handling better. My personal recommendations are Baby Daisy with Mr Scooty, roller and cloud glider for curvy tracks Luke dragon sideway BC super handling and mini turbo, dry Bowser inkstriker wooden and paper glider for entirely antigravity tracks like big blue because of the top antigravity speed, and please, don't use inside drifting bikes if you are in 200cc because there are many advanced outside drifting techniques that outclass inside drifting techniques in 200cc. I'm a competitive 200cc player and I normally get 1st with just the 1st combination of baby Daisy. However, of you are going for time trials, then these are the stats in order of importance: handling, mini turbo, speed, weight, traction, acceleration, and nothing else matters really. To find out your mini turbo stat, it's basically the average of your acceleration and handling stats, the higher the acceleration, the longer the mini turbo, but the higher the handling, the faster you will upgrade colours, which is why the baby Daisy combo stated above is what most 200cc players really use. If you guys want more info on this, please like and reply to this comment with your question. 😀

Honestly, its not the combo you use, its the way you use items
Items can be very crazy in mario kart 8 deluxe, from bananas in last to bullets in second, its not your kart.
Many mario kart starters will believe this bs because this was used a lot in mario kart 8, before the 200cc update. I mean come on, you have to use items and knowing the track and skills to your advantage, not just speed, speed, and speed.
Also, these types of combos are terrible on terrain tracks, such as dolphin shoals, gcn dry dry desert, and gcn sherbet land. Im guessing this adivce is not a big mario kart veteran on how to win races.
If you had to ask me though, i would tell you to practice, practice, and practice. In grand prix races, use the items to your advantage, since these courses can be hard to master (especally courses like n64 rainbow road, rainbow road, wii grumble volcano {note i played grumble volcano on mario kart wii, i know how its like} mount wario, and more). Try to create your own item strats, and then, you can crush people, even maybe one day, the best of the best (like troy and mankalor).

1:24 false. The according to the mario kart stat builder, the standard kart doesn't give a boost in any stats.
On the other hand, the prancer gives a boost in both speed, and underwater handling.
In general, this entire video is completely wrong in general. The top two best combinations are dk/waluigi/Roy in the scooty with roller tires and paper/cloud glider, and dk/waluigi/Roy on the wild wigler with roller tires and paper/cloud glider

Acceleration and Turbo are the most important thing in this game.
I always go for Peach, Mr. Scooty, Roller and Flower Glider.
Actually use: Mr.Scooty azure rollers, cloud glider, and lemme. Much better mini turbo.
No, the best combination depends in the track, for example mr scooty is much better on a track with a lot of turns like dragon driftway but a track like dolphin shoals will be bad for mr scooty because of the underwater speed, also the best kart for dolphin shoals are, streedle and landship. (Also the biggy buggy had the same stats as mr scooty but it turns slightly different) and last thing, the best combo in general for online, is wild wiggler, roller weeks and cloud/parachute/paper glider/ flower glider(the 4 gliders i just listed have the same stats but just look diffrent, but mr scooty is still good online when you need to play aggressive when you prefer to use items more then use wild wiggler

I've been using baby Mario in a biddybuggy with roller wheels and the cloud glider. Which has extremely high acceleration. And it's proved quiet affective on online play.
Just came back from trying it. (With the Mach 8). This was what a guy from Japan was using last night on an online game, and my brother was accusing him of hacking. (Lol, on a switch.)

Can I just say that most world records are done in high acceleration karts like the biddy buggy with roller wheels? Speed is basically useless in Mario kart 8 deluxe.
0nly 50% of the race is the cart the other 50% is skill
1:58.4 is a very unimpressive time on Yoshi Circuit, even with the awful combination you used. With the same combo I got 1:54.6 on the first attempt and 1:52.771 several tries later, and I literally never use hybrid drift. With the better combos, you’ve got to at least get 1:49 to call it good.
I've used that cart combo for ages lol, it's really good. Not a bike guy, but I'm interested in how different the starts are between them.

This strategy’s greatest weakness are items. Getting hit stops your car, and having such bad acceleration can ruin you in tight races

I personally think acceleration is most important. What I use usually is Ludwig or Dry Bowser, Blue Falcon, Azure Roller, and an acceleration glider

I used to live on 150cc. When my brother got obsessed with 200cc, I was like "WUT WHY" and got rekt, due to my White Yoshi, Standard ATV, (white) Off-Road, and Super Glider combination (called Whipped Cream). Now we have gold trophies on everything in 200cc Grand Prix (not saying we have a lot of stars on some Cups!). Also I practically live on Dry Bones LOL

Actually, if you get hit by an item, it takes you long time to get up to top speed again, when acceleration is only on 2 bars...
But when you're good, only lightning and a blue shell can touch you

A large, lightweight character with a bike what has lots of handing and acceleration sounds pretty balanced. A large character won't get knocked around as much and good handling is just good to have. Good acceleration is preferred and a lightweight character, even though large, is better for speed (I think. I'd imagine so) and good grip tires. Like Waluigi. And with a bike, you got a better FoV and they have a smaller hit box so it's slightly easier to swerve out the way of bananas or shells.
I ain't sure but you can't still do a wheelie in a bike, right? Not tried it myself or is that a Mario Kart Wii only thing? Or was that in other games, too? :-/

Speed is how fast you go when u get a boost not your base speed. You need max acceleration which is how fast u reach max speed

I Used Baby Mario because he occurred to be the one to go faster when me and my friends tested it then I used Mr Scooty and the Roller or Azure Roller wheels and the Cloud Glider and I won all cups 50 through 200cc and I beat all except a few Nintendo Staff members

Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach both have significantly better handling compared to Wario, Dry Bowser, Bowser, Morton Koopa Jr. and big Miis.
they're in a different size bracket, both metals are medium, what he should've said was the big characters, not the heavy. Rosalina, Waluigi, Link, and King Boo are all in this bracket.
