On of the realest movies. It's telling truth about love and live in general. This movie shows what love is about. Shows that love is not about looking at eachother but looking together in the same direction.
sippinonmusic I totally agree with you, there was love from both but they didn't look at life in the same way and she was the one that had courage to see that things wasn't fine
@@Peter32tjrksor How was she self centered? Her husband pretty much ruined her reputation at work, always gave her a hard time, couldn't spend a moment talking without getting into fighting and arguing about stuff. If anything, her wanting a divorce (and quite probably going through with it) was going to be painful and harsh to Dean since he's not even his daughter's biological father, but it still was the right thing to do.
She fell in love with the charming young boy and the love just fades when she’s getting older. Her priorities changed. Not about love anymore.. it involved financial, ambition, responsibility.. that’s marriage
I've contacted Nannie {Penny)Sharpe on you Tube The other night we had commented on Jay Robinson the one who Wrote the song his Grandson had posted on RUclips that his family wasn't paid Royalties for this song and She said he didn't sing on this particular song his Grandfather had passed away some time back and she spoke on it he did sing another track on that demo they made
Dean loved her at first sight, I wouldn't be surprised if she was his first love judging by the generally immature (not in a bad way) and innocent way he viewed love. I think Cindy just sorta fancied Dean in the way a young girl would with a charming good looking guy. But the charming kind good looking guy ended up as her only resort after she got knocked up by someone else. They were too different otherwise. Seen very clearly when you look at their respective ambitions, which were completely incompatible. Hence we have a relationship doomed to fail. Which just breaks my heart when you see their beginnings.
From a lots of points I agree, but the thing I do not agree is Cindy is not just fancied about him just because of his looks. He treated her different, her ex boyfriend was a total douche and Dean is pericious one of a kind person. She loved him, she totally loved him but love is just not enough for her. I guess she wanted that feeling when she felt they were together in the beginning of their relationship. Dean was still feeling it but Cindy wasn't. As Cindy said when she was talking to her granma about her mother and father, feelings can flew away suddenly and thats what happened to her.
This movie makes me cry, because I did the same exact thing that Ryan Gosling does in the movie- I took off my ring and threw it- and then I realized what I had done, and went looking for it. I didn't find it, yet my wife (ex) bought me a new one. Good woman whom I didn't appreciate. Now she's gone, and I think about her every day.
This song is right on! I was married for 20 years and I thought I was "in love"....we divorced and I believed I was to be alone the rest of my life...at 44 years old I meet my soulmate! When you are truely in love its like the song! Nothing matters but you two...money, trips, possessions...none of it matters! You never want to be without them! I hope that everyone can find their soulmate...Im just sad that it took me until the age of 44....but better now then never!
All that I know I want in life is a moment like this (and also a moment when he sings "You Always Hurt the Ones You Love.") This is a moment where you experience so much, in so little, where two become truly one, where heaven falls upon the earth and you can truly, define love.
Most devastating part was at the end even if dean wanted to take his daughter he couldn't.. cindy would have said its not your child.. i am glad they dont make this scene.
ok I've seen this film twice now I'm convinced Michelle Williams's character never loved him. she chose the safe option when she was young and he was that safe option. she needed him for a lot of reasons.
+Andrew Heil Even the first scene where they have breakfast with the kid, says much about the character of both. And: Remember the abortion scene, when she says that she had ~25 lovers till then ? The Gosling character was lost from the beginning in this game. It's exactly the way you describe it: "She needed him for a lot of reasons". It's sad and ashaming, but people use other people all the time. In the name of love ofcourse...
I don't know if I'd call him the safe option. If she went for security, she would have married a man with a wealthy family and a six figure salary. Instead, she chose the free-spirited drop-out trucker. I think that it was love, but it was so passionate that it consumed her and she ultimately decided what was best for her.
I'm sure she loved him at some point, it's pretty obvious in one scene where they are rolling on the ground together laughing and the marriage scene where she has absolutely no look of regret or a "what the heck am I doing" but of course over time she fell out of love with him which maybe not even that, she could still love him and just not want to be with him at all and is not attracted to him anymore
maybe no one with a wealthy family was in her life or around her,she didn't have that option. This guy came along and made her feel good, and it was easy to slip into. Its not everyday that a wealthy guy comes into a girls life and sweeps her off her feet, thats not reality. But guys like Gosling, I see guys like that all the time.

I just watched this movie and I absolutely loved it but I can't see how people think Cindy was the one wrong here? They were both at fault in their own ways. The movie portraited so well the start of a relationship that was amazing and they were both so in love, but as they started a life together and had a kid they just didn't seem to fit each over well anymore. He was a guy drinking too much for his own good and losing all ambition in his life, he stated he wanted nothing more than to be a husband and a dad. That's fine but he was a complete ass about it to Cindy sometimes, she couldn't say anything without him taking it out of context. They were getting on each overs nerves. Then there's Cindy who was clearly falling out of love with him faster than he was, they started seeing eachovers faults too much and Cindy just didn't seem to be happy and comfortable around him anymore. She wasn't ready to settle with him despite having a kid. The relationship was broken and that happens in real life, it just does. They both fell out of love with each over, although Dean didn't want to admit it. They weren't good for each over anymore, they had a fantastic relationship at the start but it just didn't work out anymore and they were both as bad as each over, there's no point in siding with one of them. It's a tragedy, it's upsetting but it's also real life. Not all relationships work out in the end.
I know this comment is five years old, but that's one of my favorite things about the movie is how well they made it not just the fault of one of them. Cindy had no energy left in her to have fun and be romantic, and no longer appreciated his goofiness she originally fell for. And Dean became a drunk and would always twist Cindy's words and escalate things for no reason. He was still a great father, but he wasn't a good husband anymore. It's just an honest tragedy of a lot of relationships, and it's so much more gut wrenching seeing it contrasted with the constant flashbacks to when they fell for each other.
Love. Just love. You'll only understand once u've watched one of the best love stories of modern time. Blue Valentine WILL shake your soul. It's just beautiful.
I've honestly listened to this song at least 40 times today. I could listen to it a thousand more times and never get tired (: It has such a real feel to it. Combined with the music video, I feel like it's talking about my life or something. Even though none of this has ever happened to me. Love.
I watched this one night alone and boy did it feel like someone punched me in the gut and knock my wind out.. It reminded me so much of my previous relationship with my ex.. By the end I was so emotionally worn out, it felt like i physically went through the ups and downs again.. What a great movie to surface those feelings of pain, even tho it stung a little. If you've had your heart broken, you can totally relate to this movie.
I saw this movie yesterday and I loved it. Great filmmaking. I more or less take this movie as a life lesson. It always starts out great and thats why two people come together. They obviously love each other. The whole lesson is not to let it get to where they are in the movie. Fantastic film!
This has to be the most realistic portrail of a relationship, that I've seen in a movie in a long time! Heartbreaking, honest, sweet, and terrific.Ryan and Michelle were incredible! A must see movie!!

I read a comment saying she never really loved him she just chose him because he was the safe option and people kept asking ‘how was he the safe option?’ And I don’t think it’s the fact that he wanted to be a father to her child but more the fact that she saw and knew his love for her was true and unconditional and even if she didn’t love him as much, she felt safe with him knowing he’d be always there, chasing her like a stupid fool, even if she lost those feelings over time. As for the ‘she was never really in love with him’ I truly believe she was, she loved him for what she knew love to be at the time. She was swooped away by his charm but eventually that went away as they aged and that love she had for him slowly drifted further and further away.
Got to say, I heard of this movie, and this beautiful song from my Brother. Quite amazing, I bawled like a baby as I listened to it. I am really excited to watch the movie with him in the future. He turned me onto indie/ Foreign Films last time we were together.
Before watching this film, I legitimately thought this music video was the ending! When I got to the ending of the movie, I was expecting this 🤣. Nicely done
This film changed my life and changed the way i was, it was such a great more and will reflect on people in different way's, made me so upset though it's heart breaking, and everything in this movie meant so much!
This reminds me of my first marriage in so many ways. We me on a hunch, fell in love in an unlikely manner. We both changed as time went on, and it didn't end happily. What I love about the movie is its realism, and of course the acting was second to none.
seen this movie for the first time last night ,its completely awesome ,very emotionally touching stuff ,get the hankies out ....the song is awesome to ,first time i had heard it was in this movie, and its used to great effect in a cpl of scenes
Well, I was singing and humming this to my 3 month old son to get him to sleep. It worked, but now I'm bawling. Makes me sad thinking bout how I dedicated this song to his daddy, thinking we'd be together forever. But we aren't, and now I'm alone raising his 2 boys, and god damn is it hard. I just wanna give tf up. 😢
I couldn't agree more to be honest. It changed my view on romance and love and just life in general. Blue Valentine is one of the most underrated movies of the 21st century in my opinion. It's saddening but beautiful at the same time.
i think she loved him but love alone can’t maintain a relationship. When Dean stopped working on his potential and aspirations to become a husband and a dad, that’s when he’s growth has stopped. Dean sacrificed too much for Cindy, loved her so much that he stopped taking care of himself. In Cindy’s case, i believed Dean was the only option for her, maybe it was the first time she felt love like that plus he was the only one who was willing to support him. Agreed, she needed him but as time goes by, she grew tired of him. Maybe at first she saw a potential that he could be his better self but never knew it disappeared when new responsibilities arrived. Both could’ve gone through it, i believe both truly loved each other but both of them were draining themselves due to the circumstances that both of them from a dysfunctional family. In Dean’s perspective, he doesn’t want their daughter to grow up in a broken family while in Cindy’s perspective, she doesn’t want her daughter to witness having parents that are not treating each other right. Anyways, both loved each other but it can be really draining at the end. A relationship will not survive through love alone.
I love this song and also this movie so much , This reminds me how much I want to feel true love at least once in my life ...and Ryan Gosling is such a gréât accordé
...But Dean feels it all the time though he doesn't want to believe that the woman he loves most of all doesn't love him and never did. None of them is to blame, it's just their tragedy. For me the moral of this film is: don't get married if you don't love the person as it won't make anybody happy.
Ce film est magnifique !!!! Et cette chanson nous renvoie toute l'essence même du film... L'histoire est universelle et déjà vue tant de fois, mais ce film est très très beau.
I want to share something powerful with you guys, for those who are wondering why the relationship was having problems in the film. You should check out the book "Attached" by Amir Levine. It's about attachment theory. I read it last month. You will not regret it. Anyone who is single or in a relationship will DEFINITELY BENEFIT. Cindy is "Avoidant nature" while Dean is "Anxious" type. The book predicts their behaviour very accurately. Or if you want me to explain it briefly here let me know. But the book will probably give u more insight.
It's easy. Cindy was "avoidan"t meaning She couldn't fully commit, She held back. Dean was "anxious" meaning for some reason he had the desire to keep pursuing her, because She was always a little beyond his reach, and he felt a certain anxiety all the time, not sure of her, that he thrived on, for some reason. I didn't read the book, but these relationships are as old as romantic love.
I love how they added the fireworks. It symbolizes their relationship. It shoots up and shines bright for a split second then it goes away as quickly as it came but its one of the most beautiful things ever. I love how they did that with the movie.

How can you trust your feelings when they can disappear like that
Sadly I think sometimes feelings are just a means to get people to procreate and are often just an illusion
rage, anger ,hate, sadness= still all *feelings - fleeting (sometimes feel alright) and fuck us up real good!

Ninguém, amor, além de você e eu (Ei, ei, ei)
Você e eu (Meu, meu, meu, meu, meu, meu, meu)
Você e eu (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Você e eu
Ninguém, amor, além de você e eu (Ei, ei, ei)
Você e eu (Meu, meu, meu, meu, meu, meu, meu)
Você e eu (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Você e eu
Ninguém, amor, além de você e eu

This film is so real. A perfect example of how things fall apart.
Ryan Gosling’s just amazing
Got to say, I heard of this movie, and this beautiful song from my Brother. Quite amazing, I bawled like a baby as I listened to it. I am really excited to watch the movie with him in the future. He turned me onto indie/ Foreign Films last time we were together.
This movie is so indescribably good and real. It really makes you "feel" again
I loved the movie and love the song!!!

I'm watching the movie right now lol. Soon as I heard this song, I had to pause the movie and google this song. Sighs. ♡
Before watching this film, I legitimately thought this music video was the ending! When I got to the ending of the movie, I was expecting this 🤣. Nicely done
This film changed my life and changed the way i was, it was such a great more and will reflect on people in different way's, made me so upset though it's heart breaking, and everything in this movie meant so much!
great movie! not your typical love story.
This reminds me of my first marriage in so many ways. We me on a hunch, fell in love in an unlikely manner. We both changed as time went on, and it didn't end happily. What I love about the movie is its realism, and of course the acting was second to none.
I feel so blue
grace celianna same.💔 after all these years im still not over this movie!!! 😭😭😭😭 and omfg your profile picture.. LANA 😱💖

SezLovesTheWorld Damn
Well, I was singing and humming this to my 3 month old son to get him to sleep. It worked, but now I'm bawling. Makes me sad thinking bout how I dedicated this song to his daddy, thinking we'd be together forever. But we aren't, and now I'm alone raising his 2 boys, and god damn is it hard. I just wanna give tf up. 😢
beautiful video and beautiful music. watched the movie and felt hear broken, love just hurts sometimes.
I couldn't agree more to be honest. It changed my view on romance and love and just life in general. Blue Valentine is one of the most underrated movies of the 21st century in my opinion. It's saddening but beautiful at the same time.
It's the greatest love story ever told
no other film makes me weep quite like this.. truly a classic and masterpiece
One of the only movie's that really made me cry
My favourite film with the best soundtrack!
This movie hurts so much because of how similar it is to one of my previous relationships. I think I can speak for many...
i think she loved him but love alone can’t maintain a relationship.
Love is enough, everything else is bull shit. Love is real. As Dean says "potential for what?" Women can never be happy or satisfied.
this could be a great northen soul track, love it ian
I love this song and also this movie so much , This reminds me how much I want to feel true love at least once in my life ...and Ryan Gosling is such a gréât accordé
SUCH A FANTASTIC MOVIE !!
I love this film so much I cried at the bit when the daughter is begging him not to go :'(
This.is.awesome.
Great video from a fantastic movie.
I can't stop listen to this music.
So yeah, basically i cried like a baby watching this movie.
I think I'm going to listen to this everyday.
...But Dean feels it all the time though he doesn't want to believe that the woman he loves most of all doesn't love him and never did. None of them is to blame, it's just their tragedy. For me the moral of this film is: don't get married if you don't love the person as it won't make anybody happy.
i love this song , is amazing and really nice !!
this movie is a fucking killer
Words can't describe how i love this film
Great movie!!! Gossling and Willams in their best perfomances ever!!!
A true love story.
Blue Valentine is the truest and purest love story idc idc
It's one of favorites!!! The movie speaks volumes to me!!! Iliv
One of the best films I’ve ever seen 😢
Love blue valentine, this is amazing.
Short explaination please? pretty please with sugar :)
Okay, thanks for the information
Tq for sharing the information. after 4 yrs I get a chance to look at it. Tq Raphael Dupont
This movie is going in my list. I can't wait to enjoy a lonely night this weekend!
