Well said Dikran, Europe is a civilization and Armenians feel Europeans they do not need to justify it.

    • @mEtalec

Armenians have been present since the dawn of European civilization. They not only maintained ties with early not yet Europe but actively contributed to its development, particularly through as an example, numerous Eastern Roman emperors of Armenian descent. And we all know about Roman Empire’s input in shaping of European civilization.
Unlike the s.c. azeris, who emerged from obscurity as complete strangers and, like the turks, antagonistic to Europe, Armenians were integral to its foundation. It’s disheartening that Europeans would even entertain the idea of barbaric states like Azerbaijan as potential European nations.

To some Armenophobes in the comments: Europe is not only GEOGRAPHY, it is also culture, Democracy, history, values, human rights, woman rights( in parliaments and in major government offices ) science, art! With all these regards Armenia is very European and shares similar values, Armenia is also Oriental/Middle Eastern/or West Asian as some like to see, they are influenced by their thousand year ancient neighbors, and also they were the road and connection in ancient times from Armenia to Europe and from there to China the silk road!
So before just typing ignorant comments like Armenia is Asian, stop think, read world history, open a book of ethymology ancient countries, check ancient maps, and you will see where ARMENIA stands as an ancient civilasation. Peace from Yerevan to the human species

In an era of disinformation, let's clear that Armenia is not "Caucasus" or "Balkans". Armenians don't speak someone else's language, practice another's religion or claim history without proof. Armenian heritage, art, culture and verifiable history is strewn all over European and world museums. Our values and proven resilience to safeguard them in a sea of enemies, will surely guide us back to where we rightfully belong for millenia. Europe. ❤️🇦🇲🇪🇺🇺🇲❤️

It’s a nice idea. I only know Armenia through the Armenian diaspora, which is definitely sharing European (Western?) values. That said, the reality of geopolitics on the ground makes a full adhesion difficult as long as Russia is outside and considered an enemy. Maybe there could be some alliance with a free and democratic Russia one day and a larger European zone that includes Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia.

Not solving an issue with diplomatic means and doing a referendum is dangerous and can result in a WW3 (I believe we're already in Cold War 2). It's sad to see that everything achieved after WW2 is threatened today. 😢

~ 37:14, what Mr. Khzmalyan saying about Azerbaijan and Russia is a bit wrong. 1. Russia wanted status quo of the war, so neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia couldn't go past the conflict and needed a mediator (Russia) to solve it, now it's changed, so Russia didn't help the Azerbaijan, rather it was the Turkey.. Also the consequence was that Russians were driven off from Azerbaijan, exactly opposite to what Russia wanted. 2. Russia want's the piece of the border with Iran, because this is the only other country Armenia have access to . Azerbaijan and Turkey are de-facto enemies, Georgia is currently almost controlled by Russia, so in this case Armenia will be locked, also Russia could use this border for some weapon trade with Iran (additionally to the Caspian sea).. 3. Russia could (and already did this) build the pipeline under the Black sea, directly to Turkey, w/o dependency on the political will of Azerbaijan, Armenia or anybody else. Also Azerbaijan oil is a competitor to the Russian oil, so why would Azerbaijan be interested in this? Azerbaijan want's this to have a land corridor to it's excalve - Nakhchivan, which will also serve Russian interests. All in all it's just doesn't adds up.

Only if they can socially liberalize and leave eastern ideas of thinking behind. Conservatism has no place in Europe and it’s still strong the caucus. 👏👏just one remark. Armenians have a Western mentality. If it weren't so, we wouldn't have problems with Russians and Azerbaijanis. They accuse us of being monoethnic and "not letting them near us". This is an indicator of what our position is. For centuries, we have been accompanied by our ethnic memory. We had Western-type states even when the eastern tribes weren't even nomadic yet. And politicians are temporary. We overthrew the Russians, survived the war, there is no way back for us. What other proof do you need that we are not on the same path with the East🤷😔

You mean Turkey or Azerbaijan? And the EU's job is not to choose sides, possibly divide even more. Nobody has any use for that. Diplomacy is the EU's job, and that includes keeping all sides happy. Absolutist views aren't gonna work in politics or diplomacy. And in case you are talking about Turkey, maybe you haven't noticed but there is quite a large Turkish population in Europe. Starting fights with Turkey over small things and upsetting a pretty large portion of your population is not a good idea.
