I'm a little late seeing this video, but I love the classic sound of the Heritage snare. I'd like to have one. I've got the Velvetone snare drum that came with the kit. I also have the Machete, Brass Cat and a vintage Precious Metals Black Panther steel 14x5.5. The Machete is my favorite of what I have, but as I said, I'd loved to have the Heritage snare drum.
Would you say that the Hydro and the Blaster are different sounding snares? I long as I understand, the Hydro is kind of a reissue of the previous Blaster. What do you think?
They are very slightly different. The Hydro has the lugs placed further away from the rims than on the blaster. The walnut reinforcement rings are 4mm on the Hydro but 3.4 on the Blaster. The Hydro has 3 vents while the Blaster only has 1. Lastly would just be the finish. All this adds up to the Hydro being a little bit dryer, but the tone of the 2 snares is identical.
@@GZuraman Also, as far as 13" snares go, check out Natal drums. They have a 13x7 maple as well as a 13x6.5 walnut and a 13x6.5 tulip wood. I got the maple one recently and it is really nice. With only one air vent and no reinforcement rings, it's a really full sound.
Hi Chris, thanks, I asked the folks @ Mapex Germany about it.... Meanwhile I also got one of the hydros with the maple interior shell here. In comparison to the pics that I took for the review, the shells look identical, you can see at the bearing edges, etc. of the dark modell, that it's the same maple shell, only the inner ply looks like mahogany, but it also could be a dark stain paint. www.bonedo.de/artikel/einzelansicht/mapex-black-panther-2020-hydro-heritage-solidus-pegasus-snare-test.html Regards Chris
