    Update: due to a recent discovery, Pokemon Emerald is no longer required to guarantee the Lati fight, meaning a second GBA/link cable is also not required to do this hunt. I'll be putting out an update video soon detailing how to do this with only one console or game!

    Some really weird stuff happend to me while trying this like a year ego.
    I used the record exchange to give change the feebas spawning spots from my emerald game to my saphire then when i was hunting for shinies in the battle tower I found a shiny tyranitar with a nickname, it was my own shiny tyranitar from emerald and it was part of the team i used in the battle tower, I found that you when you exchange records you save a version of your last/best run of the battle tower to your other game.
    Suprised about it and wondering what would happen I died and trigger the roaming lati fight, when I found my pokemon i masterball it but it turned into a bad egg.
    I dunno why. But hey, it was a pretty wacky experience.

    I have been trying this occasionally for a few months now and I recommend using Surf over EQ on Poliwrath. Primarily for Counter Heracross who lives +6 Brick Break. But also for Blaziken and Regirock. You can chip them down safely with a Surf so that even if Poli dies to a crit, Latios or Metagross can hopefully pick them off. So far, my best streak with the team was 325 wins.

  • @Absolute-Zer0
    @Absolute-Zer0 2 года назад +34

    Gen 3 was the first Pokémon gen I played excessively. When I was 6 yesrs old I got Pokémon Emerald and fell in love with it. I had hundreds of hours of play time and had my starter and my first Pokémon caught, Blaziken and Linoone, at Level 100. Unfortunately I never encountered a shiny Pokémon, neither in my Emerald nor in my Sapphire version which I got after my Emerald version. And I also always wanted to obtain all those strong high level Battle Tower or Battle Frontier Pokémon and now you're telling me I can actually do that PLUS I can shiny hunt them??
    I wanna try this so bad, I just need a link cable and a second Gameboy. But I don't know if I can do this with my old versions, because their internal batteries have run dry and therefore I can't grow the necessary berries because the day night cycle is broken.
    I really hope that I can pull this off with my old versions regardless.
    Thank you so much for your videos it was so fun seeing your reaction and learning the setup of this trick. I'm looking forward to future videos of yours. Good luck with your future hunts!

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +9

      The crazy thing is I got my copy of Emerald at the same age and played the exact same way, only leveling my starter and a Swellow. Thank you so much for the kind comment, it's so nice to know that I might be able to help someone experience that same nostalgia I felt when pulling this off. Just so you know, the only part of this setup that you would need berries for would be if you wanted to change your shiny's EVs without leveling it past 50, so other than that you would be fine doing this with a dead battery. Somewhat related though, it's important to mention that after you've had your ruby/sapphire save file for a year, all time-based events stop working regardless of whether you have a dead battery. Pretty much the only way to fix this glitch is with save data injection or hooking your GBA up to a GameCube running Pokemon Box. This glitch doesn't exist in Emerald though, so you would be fine growing your berries there if your Sapphire save is older than a year.
      Anyway, back to what you said about being interested in catching the Pokemon from the Tower and Frontier, I feel like I should mention that there's actually two glitches that are very similar to this that you can use to catch Pokemon you normally cannot. One is the Pyramid glitch, and it's way more well-known. You can use save corruption involving the Pomeg berry in Emerald to smuggle in Masterballs and shiny hunt the wild Pokemon you can find in the Battle Pyramid. The only thing is, you will need to keep your console on for the entire duration of the hunt if you choose to do this without a save-file backup device. I'll link the guide here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/15RNkGdAzbalwlzwijt1E8SnnMX9lHM8i and the targets here (there's some pretty insane ones like Charizard, Metagross, and Blastoise): www.pokebip.com/page/jeuxvideo/dossier_shasse/pokedex_shasse/pyramide/zone/paralysie
      The other glitch has, as far as I know, only been used by Metarkrai M. Using Pomeg save corruption, you can teach your Smeargle a glitched move that will allow access to your bag (and Pokeballs) within the Battle Pike. I plan on making a video on this one eventually, but I'll link the text guide on how to pull this one off here: pastebin.com/2kJpBQCr The targets here are also pretty cool, the most notable one definitely being wild shiny Milotic: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Battle_Pike
      Hope the info helps, I actually just got a shiny Arcanine yesterday using the Pyramid glitch. Best of luck on all of your hunts!

  • @donlyphans7801
    @donlyphans7801 Год назад +1

    A pretty significant update for performing this glitch is that if you lose in the tower (to any pokemon even not the desired pokemon), encounter the roaming lati, mean look and KO it, and the next pokemon comes out and you let it flee, THEN the next time you try the glitch, you can lose to the desired pokemon even if it's in the first party slot. This increases your odds because 3/3 pokemon are available instead of just the 2nd and 3rd!
    I found out by accidently letting a swampert I wanted flee, and when I tried again in a desperate attempt to salvage the play through, the first enemy pokemon came out instead of the lati (depsite the pokedex location tracking Lati). I've done it twice and both times have been successful. I was suprised the lati was still roaming after being KO'ed lol

      what im so upset i lost a shiny milotic because it was in the first slot can you link more info on this?

    • @donlyphans7801
      @donlyphans7801 Год назад

      I'll make a video showing my update. It's literally doing exactly what Primal Swampert does, but KO Lati and let the subsequent battle tower pokemon flee. So the Lati will be dead and will never come back, but it's still roaming on the map. Go back to the tower and lose to the desired pokemon (even if in the first slot). Now when you hunt for the roaming Lati, the Tower team will appear with no Lati. But beware about using anything but a Masterball because your level 39 or 40 Smeargle probably wont outspeed the higher level, EV-trained pokemon to then use Mean Look and the desired pokemon WILL flee! (But even then nbd, you can go back to the tower and try again)

      @@donlyphans7801 hi I have tested what you said to see if it is actually possible to encounter the Pokémon in the first slot of a battle tower fight by doing the following steps: go into a battle tower fight -> lose it -> encounter a Lati@s -> KO the Lati@s and let the subsequent battle tower Pokémon flee -> go back battle tower and fight until a desired first slot Pokémon shows up (could be any first slot Pokémon anyway) -> lose that fight (without killing any Pokémon) -> track the Lati@s using the Pokédex and encounter it, but the result I got was that only the Pokémon in the 2nd and 3rd slots showed up (no Lati@s as expected but also the first slot Pokémon didn't show up). Please lmk if there's any steps that may have been wrong, hence leading to the wrong result. Currently I'm trying to shiny hunt using this glitch and it would be great if it is possible to catch Pokémon in all 3 slots rather than just the 2nd or 3rd!

I'm actually trying to get a shiny Arcanine from the battle pyramid at the moment, there's a really in-depth pdf guide by Olig on RUclips that explained everything really well. I really wouldn't recommend setting that one up on your own unless you have a way to back up your save, but it's a really cool hunt if you're interested in these types of "glitched" shinies. Tip: teach substitute or belly drum to Poliwrath and make sure it has 4n+1 hp. Use substitute, switch out. Repeat a few times until you are really low hp and die to any attacking move despite leftovers. The AI will use a move that KO's you if it has one.

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад

      Smart thinkning, the only issue is it also needs Rest+Bulk Up to live against exploding mons, and you definitely couldn't get away with having no attacking moves on one of your mons. Even two is pretty sketch considering EQ and Brick Break are sponged by flying and ghost types respectively. Belly Drum is definitely a reliable way to kill Poli though, I'll definitely look into it for an updated guide!

      The battle tower mons follow the same pattern like Method 1 stationary mons. Because the seed is always 5a0 with dry battery you can use Rng manip these mons to be shiny with desired nature. The problem is that the first pokemon is uncatchable and the creation pattern for backup mons are pretty inconsistent so its hard to find the right TID/SID/appearing mon combo.

    I believe that the different natures are caused by the seed of R/S being the same every time you start the game with a dry battery. Hypothetically if you were to do this glitch 2 times on the same save file then I bet you would have 2 shinies with the same nature. My guess is that it gives you the first shiny frame available on that seed. You could actually check this by putting your TID and SID into RNGreporter and looking at your shiny frame.

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +4

      The method is possible and works without high-stat Pokemon, but you will find the battles much more difficult and lose far more often if you do not train a competitive team. Luckily, breeding for high IVs isn't really necessary if you would opt to use the Battle Tower Golduck as your damp user. My advice for doing the least amount of effort for the most consistent team would be to reset/breed the gift Beldum until you get one that is adamant with a high attack IV, reset the roaming Lati until you find one that is modest (IVs are glitched so those wouldn't matter, unless you reset the Eon ticket one as its IVs are normal), and catch a 6IV damp golduck from the tower instead of breeding a Poliwrath. EV training can seem a little daunting to understand at first, but it really doesn't take that long for the benefit that you'll get by doing it. There are plenty of guides and online resources for training, but if you have any questions let me know!

    Though I'll have to make do with only the Pokémon I can find in sapphire as I don't have a link cable
    For battle tower, I'd have to use Golduck as my Damp user, and I could probably go with a Calm Mind, Resto/chesto set, with a defensive spread; Metagross is solid. And then I need something good that's not a Lati twin, probably a D dance salamence
    As for catching, I could have two crobats, one at level 40 with maximum speed investment and then a high levelled one, and finally a Wobbufet

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +1

      Glad you’re gonna give this a shot! I’m making a guide soon on how to do this with only RS, but you’re pretty much right on the money. Instead of a level 40 golbat, you can actually use a level 40 electrode with explosion or self destruct (no speed investment required) and blow up on the Lati. If you don’t kill it you can send in your level 100 Crobat next. If it does kill, just make sure to say “yes” to sending in a new Pokemon both times (it’ll ask you twice, if you say no either time it’ll end the battle). There’s also a way to get a golduck with good stats easier, I’ll go into more details in the guide but putting certain pokeblock colors in the safari zone feeder can actually influence the nature of any wild encounters you get near it!
      Also one more thing, since the game kinda freaks out when a Pokémon that’s not the roamer can run away, for whatever reason, shadow tag DOES NOT WORK on the Pokémon that are sent in after Lati. Just a heads up!

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +1

      Honestly, I don't see why not. The problem would come with the fact that the Pokemon you use for the KO on the Lati would need to be level 40 to guarantee the encounter and still get the outspeed and kill, but then the Battle Tower mon that would get switched in would likely be able to outspeed and run away before you could mean look it. You COULD master ball the shiny as it gets switched in, but this would create issues if the non-shiny is switched in first. This happens if you lose the battle to the other slot non-shiny, which you may need to roar in or might get switched in by the AI. So as of right now, I would say this strategy wouldn't work.
      (Side note: as I'm typing this, I did come to a realization that if you killed the Lati AND knocked your level 40 lead out with a recoil move, you would theoretically be able to switch in your level 100 Crobat, and mean look whatever comes in to make the catch possible. I do not know if the battle would end upon your lead fainting but I will test this ASAP, because if this is not the case, then you could potentially perform this glitch without a copy of Emerald!)

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +2

      EDIT: Emerald is required regardless, as Smeargle is unavailable in Ruby/Sapphire and required for reliably trapping the roaming Lati.
      Thanks! The copy of FRLG is just highly reccomended, as it's the only way to get Poliwrath which is the optimal damp user set with the proper IVs and EVs. You would need Emerald for breeding the Poliwrath, as for one, magma armor/flame body only doubles the hatching speed in Emerald, and additionally, the Everstone only has the 50% chance to pass down the female pokemon/ditto's nature when breeding in Emerald. If you were to go with the alternative strategy involving catching the Battle Tower Golduck to use instead, you would still need Emerald in order to change Golduck's EVs via the EV reduction berry+vitamin strategy I gave an example of in the video. Technically, you could still perform this glitch with only a copy of Ruby or Sapphire using a sub-optimal damp Pokemon, or no damp Pokemon at all, but this creates additional risk in the event of finding an explosion-using shiny.

    Hey again, I've been messing around this this and I've got a few comments
    - I completely forgot about shedinja until I saw it. My team isn't the same as yours since I didn't have enough prep time, so metagross didn't have shadow ball, but I did have toxic which was my only answer for shedinja. But both of our teams would lose if Metagross is already dead, which happened often enough in my runs (I led with Meta since my Latios has bad IVs)
    - For the lv 40 smeargle method, I don't think baton pass is mandatory? In one of my trial runs I used mean look, then switched out to another pokemon and the Lati stayed. I then went to throw a ball and after it broke out, it fled. But I suspect if my new pokemon used mean look, it would have stayed. If so, a fast lv 40 golbat could be an easy to obtain entry pokemon, use mean look (Learn as Zubat lv 36) and pivot to a lv 100 gengar/crobat with mean look.
    - Set mode isn't required. I forgot about this step and actually had it on Shift and they never fled (Aside from the case I mentioned above). With the lv 40 Electrode/Self-Destruct method it was weird, when I fainted it asked me to switch so I chose Crobat, then it asked me to switch again (???). I said no and it said "Can't Escape". So I guess if I said no to the first one, then it would have fled?
    - I can't remember if you said, but I tested this and its safe to use the PC box between losing the battle tower and encountering the Lati. I used it to box my lv 50's and pull out my HM slave and more Crobats. Tried it twice and it went fine.
    - Is there any info on how the game decides what pokemon a battle tower trainer has? I know some of it is floor based (Eg I never see a lati before the 43th battle and I only see Metang on the first few floors), but I just had a run where I won 67 battles and I encountered about 5 Latias-es and 0 Latios-es, which was annoying since a non-shiny perfect IV Latios was my target XD.
    Fortunately I lost to a (Timid) Latias, so I just gave up and caught it. I'll use it in the next savefile to make my team more reliable. Maybe I'll also Glitzer Pop myself a Soul Dew to make it more reliable.

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks for following up, to address some of your comments:
      -Shedinja was never really an issue for me, sweeping with a set-up Lati pretty much always worked out and left Metagross alive on the off-chance there was a shedinja in the back
      -Baton pass isn't mandatory because of electrode but I had a feeling mean look worked out that way, nice to have that confirmed now though
      -The set mode thing is interesting, I was relaying something from the thread I went off of when I included that in the guide but set mode effectively doesn't matter as long as you don't hit "no" to the send in a new mon prompt. About the electrode blowing up, that second prompt showing up is basically asking you if you want to run away or not, after you clicked "no" you lost the chance to escape and so the battle continued. As long as you click "yes" using explosion works fine, I made sure to include that in the update video that I'm working on editing atm
      -Using the PC box is safe, you pretty much just can't get into an encounter or save and quit
      -Bulbapedia did actually update their page on battle tower trainers, there are certain pokemon that can't be found anymore past a certain winstreak like Metang, and now we have complete data on it so I'll link it below. You did get a little unlucky with not finding a Latios, as my highest winstreaks were several hundred battles and I found plenty of both Latis.

    • @primalswampert1050
      @primalswampert1050  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback! In order for this glitch to work, it is important that you lose to your opponent without the shiny knocking itself out. So, effectively, what you need to do is ensure that explosion mons use all of their explosion move PP. Since the moves the AI chooses are completely random, if you have a damp user sent out, the AI has a 1/4 chance to try to use explosion each turn, wasting 1 PP. If an exploding shiny is sent out, you’ll want to immediately switch to your bulky damp user. Count each time the AI tries to use explosion, and after 5 times you can be confident the shiny cannot blow up anymore. Waiting out this process, your damp user will likely take a lot of damage from the exploding shiny’s other moves. This is why it’s important for your damp mon to be very bulky, having a healing move and a defensive setup move to spam. After doing a lot of Pokémon damage calcs, I found that the poliwrath set from this video is the bulkiest damp user available. If you cannot obtain this poliwrath, or don’t have the patience to breed for good IVs/nature/ability, you can catch a 6IV damp golduck from the battle tower (using the same glitch this video covers) as a substitute. The golduck EV spread shown in the video is likely not optimal (and does not account for the random natures of battle tower mons), so if you choose to go through this route let me know so I can provide a more detailed guide on how to do damage calcs. Back to the battle though, after stalling out your opponent’s 5 explosion PP, you’ll want to go through the process of losing the battle normally. Just like if you were to find any shiny in the second slot, your safest way to go about this against a second slot shiny is to switch into your Lati and use roar, as you may still complete the glitch if you lose the battle to the third slot non-shiny. The reason why you wouldn’t want to roar an exploding shiny immediately (as you would with a normal second slot shiny) is because roar always goes last, regardless of speed, giving the exploding shiny a chance to blow up on your Lati. With that in mind, if your damp user dies before stalling out all 5 of the explosion PP, and the exploding shiny is in the second slot, you should switch in your Lati in a last ditch effort to save it by roaring it out. This obviously would not apply if the shiny is in the third slot. I know this is a lot so let me know if you need further clarification :)

      @@primalswampert1050 thank you, this was perfect. I will be heading back here when I start hunting this. I'll attempt a 4x setup and it'll be a live shiny I'll upload to this channel! This method of hunting is so unique it deserves much more attention!!

      Unfortunately since you need to trade certain Pokémon from emerald, you need two GBAs and a link cable. I’m currently working on a workaround for needing emerald however so I will definitely update this guide if I can figure out how to do it with only one GBA

      If you have a means of dumping you could simply use a vbalink like function of emulator to trade between your saves and then put your savefile back in your cartridge afterwards. Do avoid capturing stuff with emulator if you don't want to wreck your PID though (it will be detected as non legit despite not being hacked).

    I got some years ago on cartridge a shiny female modest heracross with 14 IVs in all stats. Only 14 because it was from one of the first towers, maybe the second (trainers 8-14). I also found a shiny luvdisc but it fainted before I could lose on purpose. I had Tyranitar in the first slot, I wasn't shiny hunting.

      That's pretty awesome that someone managed to catch a shiny this way before me! I'd love to check out the save file if you have a way of exporting it

      @@primalswampert1050 Well, I did play lots of battle tower to get some 31 IVs Pokémon. Got some nice ones like Registeel, Latias, Wobbuffet. I can't really export the save files on my cartridges, but I can upload photos. I'll try doing that. Can I post the link in the RUclips comments?
      I also did some shiny hunting with rng manipulation and some Glitzer Popping at the time, and somehow managed to turn my perfect modest Latias into an egg of itself. I tried replicating that with many mons and corruptors, but to no avail. Oh and about that heracross, it's nice that it shiny, but apart from that, it's pretty useless unfortunately. 14 IVs and modest... heh.
      And lastly, nice videos you make!

      @@primalswampert1050 I took the photos, so here's the proof, your honor. :P I included a glitzer popping egg and the mew that came out of it, and those Registeel and Latias I was talking about. There are 15 links. Not knowing whether RUclips likes them, I'll write them in a clever way. "ibb", full stop, "co", slash. After that I'm afraid you'll have to copypaste the following 15 strings of text one by one: ckyB3Qf; PDnvbPW; 2jVXh3j; 0JBCwVC; gVBQsVM; SBdsBDY; b61rpTy; rFNt0rc; 0DmWpZr; kxTXDf2; 9NVZMvj; JkxdHgR; sWJrJ4S; Tv5140v; ck2W8HJ.
      Fun fact: I did glitzer popping when more or less only Metakrai was talking about it, reading their french pastebin :D I'm from Italy so it wasn't impossibily hard. There were a couple of videos form Chickasaurus as well, I believe, but not about the more complex stuff they did later.
      With Glitzer I managed to get to Southern Island, get unobtainable items and other easy things, but I never tried Arbitrary Execution Code and the likes.
      I also RNGed some 30-31 IV (30 for Hidden Power) eggs, but never tried shiny ones.

    Does this glitch work with lvl 100’s in battle toeer?

  • @ManuYoCom

    I didn't understand the Lv40 Smeargle part. Why can't it go further? In the other footage with the Sceptile they have a Lv100 Smeargle and doesn't nullifies the Battle Tower battle. Kinda got lost in that part

    • @primalswampert1050

      The level 40 smeargle at the front of your party guarantees you can do a repel trick to encounter the Lati without finding anything else on the route, because getting into a random wild battle will stop the glitch from working. As I just found out, however, you can use any level 40 Pokémon with self-destruct/explosion that is faster than the Lati to get your crobat in safely, meaning you don’t actually need the smeargle
