man oh man Jordan Peterson is just circling around what we all want to hear, which is HOW to delay gratification. We all know what we SHOULD do but still have problems doing said actions.
What I particularly like about your TSF videos, or most of them, seem to have this wonderfully unique element to all other videos rather; is the written summary at the very end of the video. Summarizing the most impactful, and important points is quite beneficial to me, as I am a member of the vast tribe of humanity, who have not yet mastered the art of managing ones own attention span. I am quite certain that this point may Seem rather elementary to those who(are prone to criticism of others to make themselves feel better), and that possess the need to scoff at my post. However, I unfortunately don’t have the ability to care about the opinions of others who have that inherent need in the first place. Sorry to disappoint. But I’m so grateful for the work that “Theory School Forgot,” is providing to help the many of us who are flawed in some way and are consciously working to improve the many flaws.
There has to be balance. The dollar actually loses value if you wait (too long). So you need to find a way to grow that dollar significantly faster than the value erosion over time (inflation). The marshmallow is logical because it’s still a marshmallow of the same size and value. Putting money away needs to be more than just saving it, it needs to be saved and grown to make the delay worth it.
@@teqnkka4403 Understood, my point about the marshmallow is that it will still be a whole marshmallow. If the marshmallow was a US Dollar and they wait they would only get half. Buying an asset on the other hand and waiting is like getting a second marshmallow. We also need to help teach our kids when a deal is bad vs. when it’s good.
I think you could stop based on the goals you’ve in mind. If you delay to achieve a specific goal, once it’s reached; you get your gratification. I could be buying a Mercedes but instead invest that money towards my MBA
Well, I just turned 30 and I own three rental properties and I have $150,000 in the bank, and my business is now making about $230,000 a year and my rental properties are generating $40,000 MORE a year in passive income than what my mortgage/HOA/insurance/taxes are
That piano is on point! Where can I download this? Amazing!! Or at least the name! Bravo my friend! Keep this up! All videos are hitting home this thanksgiving night! You are reaching many with callings!
Only problem is if you sacrifice your youth for the chance of something better as you age, you just lose your youth. Career wise, we should not be expecting anyone in their 20's to gamble the best time to be planning a family. Get your family affairs in order before your career.
This advice is amine. The amount of work and sacrifice it takes to reach a position of prosperity is stress enough, raising a family ontop of it is dumb. You would want your children born into a stable environment created by the fruits of your labor. Not struggle alongside you. Ask any immigrant parent what should be done.
“Sacrifice” is modern day psychology code/words/concept for “delayed gratification”.
I think you got it the other way around.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
reverse ... delayed gratification is the modern term
@@emmanuelf5451 I think trying to make your kids life easier than yours will set your kids up for failure in the future.

His biblical essays were very well presented. Much food for thought.
This is the secret to becoming successful. Put that phone and cookie down and empty your mind.
Life changing stuff. Most can't handle it, I'm grateful to be a part of all of this
Great video, this motivates me to put my priorities first and leave the fun for last

But when do you stop delaying?
I think your internal dialog....that same voice of logic that made you decide to delay will guide you.
