Mr. Franzese I was hit by a car while riding my motorcycle back in July. My left leg got really messed up and I'm just now learning how to walk again. It has been both mentally and physically taxing on me. What I really want to say is thank you for the content here. It helps keep my mind off the pain and predicament i find myself in. It is also gives me more drive to get better hearing about the harder times you have been through and how you rose above it. It may sound strange but I really appreciate what you share on here and cant wait every time you have a new video come out. I hope to see you speak live and maybe meet you one day. L'chaim.
Amazing first interview Michael. Being a teenager from Canada in 1988, I can tell u that Bruce was a very well known man in Canada for pulling off Gretzky’s trade. He was always viewed as being untouchable. Our country went into mourning when we lost him, but there was a happy ending. As u said, that trade resulted in the sun belt expansion of several nhl teams. It made the league stronger and exposed millions of Americans to our Canadian pastime. Hockey is to Canadians what football, baseball and nascar combined is to Americans. Bruce was able to do that. Keep up the great content Michael!!
Being in LA in the 80's I can attest that there was no force of nature that could compare to Bruce McNall. Crimes aside, he is really a remarkable and gifted man. The ultimate hustler. But a heart of gold too.
To my knowledge, Wayne Gretzky still stood by him despite all McNall's troubles. You'd think a guy like him would want to avoid McNall like the plague lest he tarnish his image. It's times like these (McNall's legal problems/being in jail/etc.,) where you REALLY find out who your friends are. Friends aren't just those that are supportive when times are good. They don't excuse your behavior but are there to lend a hand to help you up when you're down.
@@MrQor2 it could have been a slight insult meant to warn the respectful that this person has joined the mob For example the Italians could be angered at the mention of purse corruption so he is called Pursico to show his level of sympathy for the darker way of behavior or bad attitude to others perhaps?

Wanna here something cooler then cool ! My father shot a wedding for Franzese family yrs ago here on Long Island NY he met “Sal The Sheriff “ ! . My father said That Mike was a speaker for. Full Gospel Business Meeting back in a day too ! He met Mikes mother at the wedding too 👍💪🏻
I can see by this interview, that he is truly a good friend of yours. It's good to see men discussing old times of things that were experiences and learning from those encounters. You seemed very relaxed and content on letting Bruce tell his story.
Michael shows himself not only as a phenomenal speaker but also a great listener. Still, I would've like to have heard a few more interjections from him, but sit-downs seem to be something a little different from podcasts.
I worked in the parking lot of the L.A. Forum during the late '80's early '90's - The Showtime era. Saw lots of stars. One evening (of a Kings game) I was working one of the VIP lots and John Candy pulled up in a gold 1950's Rolls Royce or Bentley. The VIP lots only had a limited number of spaces, the one opening was chained off and had a person posted there to take VIP parking passes (and bribes) to let them into the lot. So Candy rolls up 20 minutes after the game starts and says: "I have a meeting with Bruce McNall, can I park here?" He doesn't have a VIP pass, so I have to make the split second decision (because there's still cars coming in behind him) of whether to let him park there (if he's telling the truth), or not and probably lose my job. So I let him in. And that's my Bruce McNall/John Candy story.
Loving these sit downs. I met mr. McNall, Mr. Gretzky & Mr. John Candy years ago at Wayne Gretzky's restaurant when it opened, right before the federal government started hammering Me. McNall. A true gentleman, bought the whole bar a round of drinks (I was underage with my dad so I had a Coke lol) & posed for pictures with anyone who asked. I spent time as a street kid later, and these two men's stories are part of the reason I got off the street & bettered myself. Mr. Franzese, in my mind, is one of the most genuine human beings I've ever seen. One of my bucket list items is to meet both of them (Mr. McNall again) after Covid is over. It's be an honour to meet two men who paid their dues, did their time, & are living lives now that are the model of how people can change. My hats off to both of you gentlemen, all the very best in health and safety for you and your friends and family from Toronto Ontario Canada :) cheers :)
Great interview, what a nice guy. We all make mistakes but sometimes these prison sentences are ridiculous. My son was 5 years a Marine, working as a CO now at a Fed Pen. and going to college.
What a life McNall lived. We all know about Michael's story and it's equally as fascinating but wow, owning Sports teams must have been crazy especially the Kings and bringing Gretzky there. Then going from that to Commissioner and then to spiral down to go to Federal Prison. That is truly top to bottom. Mobsters usually have that career arc but for a guy like McNall to have that happen is crazy. Great story and great guest Michael!

Hey Michael, Can I add some constructive criticism? - I like the conversational style of the interviews but I think you should give them more structure. It would be great if you had a good set of questions to be answered that would help enlighten the viewers with knowledge they could use and apply to their own lives. Ex: 1. Hey Bruce, why did Edmonton Oilers want to give away the greatest hockey player in the NHL to you at the time? 2. What did you learn as a business owner in the NHL? or as a business owner in the sports business? What are the top 3 things? 3. Did your likability as an individual help you get favorable treatment in negotiations? 4. What did prison teach you Bruce, if anything? 5. Are there any regrets you have in life? If so, what would you have changed? 6. What do you consider the most important thing in life that is worth striving for / dying for? I am assuming the answer is family but it is a good question nonetheless. 7. How did you find yourself in so much trouble to land in prison Bruce? 8. It would be great if you could get Peter Pocklington (Oilers owner who dealt Gretzky) and Bruce McNall together to talk about the Gretzky trade / NHL. Pocklington lives in Palm Desert now. 9. What celebrities/players did you deal with that were unsavory characters to deal with and why? Who was great to deal with? 10. I think Bruce started with rare coins. It would be interesting to learn how he got started in that. How did you go from collecting rare coins to owning the Los Angeles Kings? 11. I know I had players betting on sports in my time in the mob but Bruce did you ever personally know or through other people of players betting on NHL games / influencing the outcomes of spreads? 12. If you have one thing you want to be written on your epitaph, what would it be?

Hey Michael, my grandpa was born and raised in NJ in the heyday of the mob in the 20s and 30s and my dad remembers a time very vividly when he and grandpa went out to eat somewhere and grandpa was doing some "business" with someone and the guy who my dad called "uncle Frank" pulled out a thick wad of bills and gave my dad a $10. My dad was only 9-10 at the time and he was so excited cause he used to go down the street to Wright's drug store to get penny candy and Marvel comics. That's my family's mob story. Hope you enjoyed it.

Great sit down! I remember the story of getting the bag in for Bruce, you get your wife I think to stop the car and you dash out and drop the bag in a wheelbarrow. Top man haha. Cool seeing you guys taking about it together. Really enjoyed this sit down. ENCORE 🤙
I heard this story last week its good to put a face to the man who you did it for thanks for a brilliant video AGAIN mike lot of ❤from the uk fans mate
Yo Michael, as a devout Christian I would think you would be covering the systematic war being waged right now on the first Christian nation Armenia (301 AD) by Azerbaijan and Turkish forces. This is beyond biblical. This conflict could spark WW3. Please look into it and HELP BRING AWARENESS TO THE SITUATION. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Hands down the most level-headed and one of the smartest mobsters to have ever existed. Only one to get out of the life without being killed or going to prison indefinitely. Truly fascinating to listen to you talk and hear your stories. Keep it up boss.
Gretzky came from Edmonton, not Toronto. Bruce McNall used to be good friends and an associate of my old boss Larry Smith. Smith was commissioner of the CFL
Fantastic interview. Bruce seems like such an interesting dude. Would love to see more interviews with him. I bet he has a million cool LA stories from back in the day.
you know what's funny? I've seen professional interviewers interviewing Mr Franzese who did a worse job then he did in interviewing Mr McNall. actually allowing your guest to talk and tell their own storys at their own pace is what we want to see! Clearly you have the right temperament for this sort of thing, looking forward to the next guest. P.S. much love from England
Mr. Franzese, I remember the hockey bag story from Mr. McNall's book! I knew of Mr. McNall from the Baseball card business when he & Wayne Gretzky bought the T206 Wagner as well as other great cards and being a legendary coin collector/dealer! Great interview! Thank you, gentlemen!

your content is just as marvelous as your turnaround. Also your ability to translate your business smarts from the old life to your current life is remarkable. It is really a pleasure to witness all of this and take some things into my own daily life. I’d love to pick your brains someday.
Kind regards
Aaaaahhhhhh!!! It’s finally sit down time!! 🤗
I don't often say things like this, but I LOVE this man! This has become my absolute favorite RUclips channel
This is TOO LEGENDARY 🙏🔥
Mr.Franzese you are an inspiration and someone to look up to.
Respect from Amsterdam the Netherlands
Yo Michael, as a devout Christian I would think you would be covering the systematic war being waged right now on the first Christian nation Armenia (301 AD) by Azerbaijan and Turkish forces. This is beyond biblical. This conflict could spark WW3. Please look into it and HELP BRING AWARENESS TO THE SITUATION. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Shits popping off there glad to see someone else knows thats goin on
Turkey has been trying to wipe out the Armenian Christians for over a century
Hands down the most level-headed and one of the smartest mobsters to have ever existed. Only one to get out of the life without being killed or going to prison indefinitely. Truly fascinating to listen to you talk and hear your stories. Keep it up boss.
Gretzky came from Edmonton, not Toronto.
Bruce McNall used to be good friends and an associate of my old boss Larry Smith. Smith was commissioner of the CFL
Cheers It’s honor to be part of the sit down thanks Mike and Bruce king of LA never heard of him and glad I did
You had a sit-down about where to go to sit down and have dinner.
Fantastic interview. Bruce seems like such an interesting dude. Would love to see more interviews with him. I bet he has a million cool LA stories from back in the day.
I can't believe I can actually watch this for free!
Wifi is not free
You sir have made a great channel that all inquiring minds can take something from. Glad to have found this channel. It's one of the best out there.
I want that Sammy the bull and Michael franzese interview at the same time

It would be a hit
Mr. Franzese. God Bless you Sir! Glad your doing the interview now! This is classic!
He looks like Richard Castellano (Peter Clemenza ) from the Godfather
Yes you are an interviewer. The best I’ve ever seen. You’re a natural. Another great video Mike👍
Been looking forward to this
Great to see the interviews starting Michael ....
you know what's funny? I've seen professional interviewers interviewing Mr Franzese who did a worse job then he did in interviewing Mr McNall. actually allowing your guest to talk and tell their own storys at their own pace is what we want to see! Clearly you have the right temperament for this sort of thing, looking forward to the next guest. P.S. much love from England
funny how?
@@franco9616 funny like I amuse you??
@@franco9616 (hoping your making a good fellas reference lol)
this is one of the reasons why I love the channel so much. thank you for the sit down.
Joey Diaz & Michael would be a great conversation .
Lol at first in the thumb nail i thought that was Vito Spatafore from Sopranos
Been waiting for this since Monday, really exciting to see you as a interviewer, God bless
Behold, the first sit down with 🔥
I could’ve listened to this conversation for another hour or 2. Hopefully there will be a part 2
Brought Gretzky form Edmonton to LA , Gretz was never in Toronto.
