Make no mistake that just because the basic training and boot camp isn't as long for the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard as it is in the Army and Marine Corps, it doesn't mean the three branches are easier than the Army and Marine Corps, not at all true. I'm former Army but I never underestimate any branch that's not the Army or Marine Corps. The military in general isn't at all easy doing and it's not something that everyone can say that they've done or experienced, as it's not for everyone. I respect and support anyone who gets the courage and strength to serve and put on their uniform every day, in the military regardless of what branch they end up serving in. Every single job in every single branch of the military, is vital and essential to the mission of protecting and serving this country and nation. I thank you all for your service, to all current and former military service members! Something else that I want to mention and point for anyone who has wondered why there are Marine Corps Drill Instructors alongside their Navy Recruit Division Commander Counterparts in Navy Boot camp. That's because the Marine Corps and the Navy works together side by side and why the Navy Recruits and Sailors end up getting trained by both the Navy and Marine Corps.
I went to Infantry AIT in 1969. One of my classmates had formerly served in the Coast Guard. He thought that Coast Guard Boot Camp was much harder than Army Basic Training.
I'm beginning to really like this channel. I enjoy watching how other branches train. It's tradition to make fun of other branches. I'm former Army and we used to make fun of other branches, especially the CG. But in reality, deep down we know we all served the same Nation. Very cool vid. It's always funny to call Coasties 'Puddle Pirates' but I am also smart enough to know and recognize the CG's great contributions to America - namely saving many, many lives, and preventing drugs from entering our borders. Hats off to all who serve - regardless of branch.
I remember being in Oscar 135 in 1991. Cape May in February was no joke but it is one of the most fulfilling in my life. I served in SCD in basic and was assigned to a WHEC378 (USCGC Chase) and so proud to be part of all of it.

I went to Boot Camp at Alameda in 1960. Lots of yelling and screaming, even some pushing and shoving, esp if you got out step on the grinder. I hated hand washing our dungarees in the big sinks behind the barracks. My favorite part was going out in the row boats. At first, we didn't know what we were doing and went around in circles. After a lot of yelling and screaming we finally got our act together and got going. We would have four boats in the water at a time and race around the island. Civilians on the shore would cheer us on. FUN.
Alpha 109, Alameda. Two ambulances would follow us to the grinder where we would high-port (hold our M16 over our head and run) without water until 2 of us passed out and fell down. Those two were hauled away in the ambulances and they never came back, discharged. This happened once or twice a week. They worked hard to weed out the weak.

Went through in February-March 2021 in Charlie 200 and going into the first three weeks I considered myself to be completely insane for signing up for it. It’s an experience that ends up being a seemingly never ending roller coaster ride for sure. I went through when COVID-19 restrictions and concerns were at or close to their all time high so my experience was significantly different than most people before and after me. It’s hard for me to say if that made things easier or harder. Probably a little bit of both. My company commanders were interesting to sum it all up. It may not seem like it but they really do want to bring the best out of you. I do hope to see them again in the fleet somewhere so I can properly tell them thank you. There plenty that openly talked about the partying they did before they joined.Yes, that included drug use. If your Company Commander gave permission, recruits could smoke.
@@McDago100 they still used the Garands for those that messed up worse than the others. Gun got updated though.

This encourages me to push harder and do well, I will make sure to improve my ASVAB score also. Because I aspire to join
Bravo 140. April 7th though May 29th, 1992. CGC Hamilton. San Pedro California. We were practically neighbors. lol
@@mikeperdue7380 haha Hamilton knew how to party! Huge rivalry between ships. but we both kicked ass.
The rope climb I had to get in shape for and learn how to climb again, they had to stop hitting me with so many meds making me weak,I like to shoot,Target, they were especially accurate and fast.... 💯
FUN.
shipping out oct 19th!! super nervous and excited

October 5th bro see you there

Alpha 109, Alameda. Two ambulances would follow us to the grinder where we would high-port (hold our M16 over our head and run) without water until 2 of us passed out and fell down. Those two were hauled away in the ambulances and they never came back, discharged. This happened once or twice a week. They worked hard to weed out the weak.
Harder than the Air Force and the Navy by far.
I was in the Coast guard and the thing about it I didn't have any trouble with the physical portion the only hard thing about it was for me was mentally that s*** killed me
@@claysinacori7347 It killed me too. I about had a mental breakdown in CG Boot Camp. The amount of informatiom they expect you to remember in a short amount of time while getting 3 hours of sleep for 2 months. The sleep deprivation alone felt like torture.
The possiblity of being reverted a week for whatever it may be is what makes it harder
That's my company at the end
@Purple Ray honestly the main things studied are seamanship and shipboard firefighting among many military customs and courtesies. there isn’t too much to really “prepare” for boot camp. YN3(AD) here so, lmk if you have questions. 🤙🏼
The O-Course actually looks like the one on Parris Island but we don’t have the net climbing one. Nice job CG! Rah.
Sure has changed since Hotel 136. We had fire fighting, seamanship and weapons training out of doors.
Coast Guard was the best decision I ever made.
We were there at the same time, I shipped out February 23rd 2021 and graduated April 9th! I graduated with hotel-200

Best thing I could have done
i think i remember reading that all the branches semi-recently received drill instructor cross-training from Marine Corps drill instructors (maybe 2013 or so?).
i showed this video to a friend of mine who went through USCG boot camp back in 1997, and she said it was NOTHING like this, ever.
her husband went through Navy boot camp in 1995, and he said it was a total breeze, barely anyone raised their voices the entire time, said it was actually pretty fun.
i guess they've tightened up in recent years.
Coast guard a favorite...and air force....god bless be safe...
Headed to cape may for bootcamp in 7 days!

Beautiful!
In 1978, I graduated from US Coast Guard Tracen Alameda. Company Alpha - 122. At that time, there were 2 USCG boot camps. The training Center in Alameda was considered much tougher than the one in Cape May. For one thing, not only did we NOT train alongside any females, we never even saw a female for the first 6 weeks. I think everyone should be made to go through boot camp once.
This training Just like imprisonments very hard work
Congrats to all the graduates. I look forward to seeing you in the fleet.
Heading to MEPS tomorrow! USCG here I come!
Fcking drop it. Join the Marines if u have balls 🤣🤣🤣 or maybe u don’t

So many smiles! And from the instructor cadre too… totally adorable!
I remember going to boot camp back in '03.
So jealous I didn’t get to do the obstacle course. L-200 recruit originally was J-200
Lamo I remember hearing bout that
yeah it was a shame, I was also L-200 but graduated with M-200. I was so excited to do the obstacle course!
The Coast Guard Boot Camp looks harder than anything I encountered in the US Navy Boot Camp. I went to Navy Photographers Mate A school in 1970. We had Coast Guard and Marines in the school also. If I was a young man now I would strive for the Coast Guard.
All those yelling in front of the face looks like the Marines Drill Instructor
Wow they are a lot quieter and more calm than when I was in Boot Camp. They definitely don’t show motivation like they used to
If only USMC added heavy nautical academics to basic training , I wonder how many would pass. Mad respect for Coast Guard.

V-178 here. I remember that freezing cement in early December mornings. They didn't have that obstacle course at time.
I sounded Taps at that flagpole many a nights at 2200. The best words ever spoken are "Uniform Two Zero Zero, DISBAND!" For me it was "Alpha 156, DISBAND!" That feeling...I'm not sure how to really describe it. I guess that it's forever, your company never will be again and nobody else will have your name.
Been in for almost 4 years thats crazy
A big problem in the coast guard for me was being around people alot, not like the air force, you kind of get to do more alone or 1 other person...
What about joining the CG, where you’re practically guaranteed to be on a boat at some point, didn’t spell close proximity to others for you? Lol
I love your boat camp
Ah, Seamanship. Only knot I remember and seem to use every time is Slip Clove Hitch.
Honestly it looks fun I wish I could back and do this again
Just save the time and get your low and tight before you ship. That’s what I did before I went into the Army.
