This is seriously so helpful to learn. Took me about a month to relearn how to aerial with air roll left and it absolutely changed my gameplay once I grinded it out.
if anyone is confused how to make the freestyler mod go left or right, you have to use the negative side to spin left and the positive side to spin right
Hi, GREAT Video, watched many Videos on the topic, but yours is one of the Best, imo. Im c1 with about 1k hours PLAYED (started playing 2020). And I practices Airroll left for about 6 month until it finally clicked. But I didnt praticed everyday in this 6 month. There were really intense sessions (couple of days to weeks), followed by breaks (days to weeks) where I havent played at All. But: what that helps with is, you let your subconscious work on muscle memory. That is really important, and why everybody is telling you it takes alot of time / 100s of hours. Also: Rings is a very effective trainingsmethode, imo, but work small steps. Grind one lvl until you are really comfortable, dont go thru the lvls only to Progress with luck. OR use the pilliars map even before rings, and do half or quarter circles to get started. It helped me alot to do small steps, mabye it will help you. Again TOP Video, keep it up :)
I thought this was impossible until trying this, just got the hang of controlling air roll left on 20% speed it and moving on to 40, thank you so much man.
Wow. This is a GREAT advice. I'm actually surprised no one mentioned it as well. With the combination of other videos simplifying the control for me and this video it's gonna be a lot easier. I do have BASIC air roll control but I feel like it's going too fast
your video is one of the best videos I ever seen on RUclips about how to use Air Roll, I kind of know how to use, but there's some days my brain seems to forget how to do it hahahaha but with this plugin you told us will definitely help me, thank you! :)

Great video! Slowing the mechanic down like this is a great way of breaking down the learning process in more manageable/approachable pieces. It kind of resembles the way in which difficulty is scaled in certain exercises when practising skills related to music or sports for example.
super good video!!! i just threw myself into it, air rolling whenever i can and trying to hit the ball until it worked. it took me a couple months that way! i wish i knew about this plug in sooner!
As an aeromodeler, the cool thing is that I already knew how to air roll even before rocket league came out, so it was really helpful to transmit it into my gameplay in no time :) I remember in 2015 when no one could do it I felt like a god lmao If you like flying in RL I recommend you to try aeromodeling (flying radio controlled planes), it's difficult at first but really awesome when you start to become a good pilot ;)
Glad to see someone actually mention the pillars map as a way to start learning. I did this exact exercise for just an hour last night and saw immediate improvement. That’s after spending a couple of days failing to make any progress on the rings maps. I’ll definitely be downloading bakkesmod now though. Also, I watched one of musty’s old videos earlier where he recommend using the slow ball speed, low gravity and low ball bounciness mutators to learn air dribbling. I reckon that for console players, trying to simultaneously air dribble the ball in figure 8’s around the pillars map would be a good (if not better?) substitute to the rings maps.

For anyone trying to learn air role, when in doubt hold the left stick in the opposite direction to what ever air role your using and just hold. Also mess around with it in free play and figure out what does what.
that's easier said then done because no one says when you should use or know when to stop or what tells you to change each direction say your bottom side of your car is facing you but you want to go right when its backwards you can't just flick it top right to go right because that gives you speed horizontally does that make sense like everyone just says do it in free play that isn't specific enough sorry for the rant

My other problem is the camera angle, I don’t know if it’s consoles locked fps or what but the car cam and ball cam are horrible even when copying youtubers/pro's settings exactly :/

Hey OneEyedGhoul, I installed the freestyler plugin and do not understand how exactly this should work. Ok so, gc1 kbm player here. When I use air roll I use the main air roll button and rotate with the ad keys. I'll slightly adjust with the ws keys. Is there a difference when using a directional air roll?
It’s hard to explain in words, but with directional air roll, there is a whole other axis of control. For example, if you hold normal air roll and D key, your car will only air roll clock wise. But if you held directional air roll left and the D key, you would do something called a tornado spin. Things like that are way easier to replicate on directional air roll
Can anyone help me out please? I have downloaded the mod but my plugin menu doesn't have freestyle so I can't change the speed of my air roll! Help would be appreciated 🙏
So.. Heres my results. (Im diamond 400h) Playing on Lethamyrs Giant Rings Map. Auto airroll right 20. Each session lasting 30 mins. 1st go: Level 4, 185 deaths. Didnt track really. 2nd go: Reached lvl 4 at 85 deaths. 15 mins in. Reached lvl 5 at 145 deaths 28 mins in. 3rd go: Reached lvl 4 at 11 deaths, 2:30 mins in. Reached level 5 at 43 deaths 8 minutes in. Level 6 at 98 deaths 17 minutes in. I noticed after 15-20 minutes my hyperfocus would be gone. After that the muscle memory kicks in. I would be thinking of food and just pass a level. Did i master airroll in 1 hour and 30 minutes? No. Can i judge from my results that this guy is onto something? Hell yeah.
@@TheOneEyedGhoul Today i noticed little control right off the bat! Same settings as earlier. First go: Level 4 at 5 deaths 2:15 in. Level 5 at 6 deaths 2:47 in. Level 6 at 39 deaths 9:13 in. Second go: Level 4 at 8 deaths 2:16 in. Level 5 at 48 deaths 12:00 in. Level 6 at 53 deaths 13:54 in. Third go: Level 4 at 1 death 1:22 in. Level 5 at 1 death 1:49 in. Level 6 at 11 deaths 5:00 in. I would just be stuck at level 6 reaching 120-150 deaths. I'll keep a spreadsheet and maybe hand it over once i master the airrol 20 🤣Seems like i have a long road ahead of me. Few things to notice: Sometimes my deaths are more. I sometimes get reset by the map, and reset myself like 0.1 sec after. Resulting in doubles. Sometimes i felt like cheating and adjusting my airrol a tiny bit so im in my 'comfort' zone to make the turn. I disabled airrol keybinds when i noticed this myself 🤣 My current issue is at level 6 where i go up, slowly, my camera tries to match my cars height. Which then confuses my position in air. Resulting in me straighting my car and flying off into the distance.

Can anyone help me out please? I have downloaded the mod but my plugin menu doesn't have freestyle so I can't change the speed of my air roll! Help would be appreciated 🙏
You're supposed to download the plugin too........
Hell yeah.
Sounds like you’re making some good progress. Would love to hear more about your results in the future :)
I disabled airrol keybinds when i noticed this myself 🤣
My current issue is at level 6 where i go up, slowly, my camera tries to match my cars height. Which then confuses my position in air. Resulting in me straighting my car and flying off into the distance.
Can you please show us your camera + sensitivity settings
