Blind Faith was an English blues-rock band that comprised Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Ric (aka Rick) Grech. The band, which was one of the first “super-groups”, released their only album, Blind Faith, in August 1969.
IClapton thought the band were under rehearsed but as far as I am aware the concert was very well received. To me . Claptons playing ,in particular is brilliant .
i don't think he was trying to really accomplish anything soundwise by having the strat neck on the tele. I think the only reason he put the neck on the tele body was because he liked the feel/playability of that particular neck. That strat neck later went onto his brownie stratocaster
LookWhatYourDoing the brownie strat was bought whole, that neck did not go on brownie, he discusses the guitar at length in the fender doc about the repros of brownie
I hear you 💯% there!! Too bad our generation sold out. The climate crisis and radical politics are everything we were against. Now look at the world, Wow! Young people, this is your world now. Take it! It’s your future. We had our time and we blew it. We betrayed you. I get young people being mad at Boomers, and I’m a Boomer. So, I had to cry today.
Pleasant surprise with how good this footage is. I was 11 when my pal's older brother introduced us to Blind Faith via an enormous radiogram. Innocent days and they look so young, must be getting really old!
@claptongroupie yeah... the singer was the most important person of a band then, all the others did not get that much attention. Nobody knew how famous Clapton would get later!
It's almost as if the camera man is doing his best to avoid showing Clapton. Who needs closeups of Stevie's fingertips at the expense of Eric's guitar? strange...
That Tele sounds great! Too bad Clapton didn’t stick with the Telecaster. How cool is this? The band Cream with Ric Grech in Jack Bruce’s place on Bass with the addition of Steve Winwood on Vocals and Keyboard. Steve Winwood also played the keyboards on Hendrix’s studio albums. Steve Winwood got his big start singing, “I’m A Man” in the Spencer Davis Group when he was only 17. What a powerhouse group of great musician’s. RIP Ric Grech and Ginger Baker
I watched a documentary about Jimi Hendrix , in which Mitch Mitchel said that Hendrix dreamed of bringing Steve Winwood to the Jimi Hendrix Experience , but whenever I went to call him ended up giving up believing that Steve would not accept it. We'll never know if Steve Winwood in the Jimi Hendrix Experience would have worked. Watching this Blind Faith performance, it is clear that there was no musical chemistry between theses three great musician. Both Eric Clapton and Ginger Backer seem apathetic failing to fit Steve Winwood's musical style. Clapton seems to be asking himself : "What am doing in this band ?" He plays the guitar mechanically without any feeling. Ginge Backer appears to be flapping its wings but cannot fly. I think one more piece was missing in this band with more stage presence and more energy to give more intensity to the songs. Watching Blind Faith with Clapton e Backer together ,I came to the conclusion that it was the Jack Bruce who was the heart and soul of Cream. Eric e Ginger never managed to charm the general public again after the dissolution of Cream.
Clapton didn't really want to be in blind faith. He wanted to play with Stevie W. But not with ginger. He had had enough of ginger when they were in cream.
@000clint yeah, lol, he was also filmed at a few other major concerts, I think: Isle of Wight, Monterey Pop, and I think even Woodstock... check into it!
not enough volume or depth on claptons guitar for that opening riff i tink, its one of the signatures of the song, needs to stand out more, even if it is live
Unfortunately not likely! Most of todays music is crappy! But there is still some great young bands that play real music to this day, just not as many as in the 60-70s
One of 1st Keyboard's I purchased was a RMI ROCKSICHORD... about the only instrument that could fake a semi realistic piano sound.. I thought it was the Bomb back then... Ha Lots of fx and EQ helped.. I loved "Blind Faith".. wish they could of did more recording...
That space ship is visible on Winwood's piano... I would have cut my legs off to have seen this. Baker especially is phenominal, and I don't even play drums...
It was an incredible time in so many things great! Freedom, Education, Music, Etc. People rose 🆙 that stood the time of the generation! Everything from Kent State too Woodstock ❤☮️👀✌️
Have watched the video of this concert - the crowd wasn't very impressed by the performance and, from reports, either was Clapton, who thought the band was ill-prepared. Sounds good to me; maybe Clapton was turned off by the Christian direction.
I think you're missing the fact that this was over forty years ago... and nobody gives a fuck. I just found that to be strange, I don't start questioning it. Let the man play whatever he wants!
It's already written that today will be one to remember. The feeling's the same as being outside of the law. Had to cry today. Well I saw your sign and I missed you there. I'm taking the chance to see the wind in your eyes while I listen. You say you can't reach me but you want everyone to be free. [Chorus] [Repeat First Verse] [Chorus] [Repeat Second Verse] [Choru
This was the best song of the concert. As much as I love Blind Faith, the concert as a whole was weak. It was so bad in EC's mind, that I think he made up his mind then that it wouldn't last.
Ok I'm confused or just a moron (most likely the later) but claptons guitar has a tele body and a strat neck. Is this his creation or did fender actually make these?
@@teetomthomas I have a few guitars I've switched necks with I play on the daily. I was just wondering if this was a production model or one he did himself because I don't recall hearing about Clapton tweaking his guitars himself.
hard to believe this is the same guitarist that put out pablam like i shot the sheriiff and wonderful tonight, and the keyboard man would later sell out with Back in the high Life. Glad they got that out of their systems. Winwood still as strong as ever these days.
I still don't understand what Eric was trying to accomplish soundwise with that guitar. He eventually went all the way with the Strat, but why the Tele with the Strat neck?? I own a Tele with a humbucker replacing the stock neck pickup and it really sounds neat, he shoulda done that to get some nice fat tones on this tune.
When the album was released there were a lot of record stores that wouldn't carry it because of the topless 12 year old girl on the cover holding a model airplane.
there are too many words to describe how good this is !!

A Wonderful Band . Eric Clapton played Great with a Great Tele Sound . Ginger Baker , the Best Drummer. And Stevie Winwood Awesome.
It makes the world go round imagine being in that time amongst the greats and having your own defining sound ?
IClapton thought the band were under rehearsed but as far as I am aware the concert was very well received. To me . Claptons playing ,in particular is brilliant .
This album/blind faith has mightily stood the test of time!
Apart from the front cover.
We'll never hear music this good again.
WE? No, you. I'm 74 and have heard music this good and better every day I've wanted to.

Correct.
I believe in his autobiography, he wrote that he put the Strat neck on the Tele just to make everyone wonder what guitar it was.
When I see this, then I miss my generation, the music, the way of life, the way of hope, the way of Art, and the total anti -consume-attitude.

Shame he got so little screen time.
Song of my youth. I had to smile today.

LOVE this song!
Ginger was perpetually blown.. the most intense drummer in history. R.I.P

never noticed till now that the airplane on the cover of the blind faith album is on Winwood's keyboard
Yes, the infamous silver plane at 3:40 !
one of the best tunes I have ever heard in my life
The powerhouse was and is Ginger Baker
So good amazing band love this.❤️
Probably just confusion that set in from missing his SG and ES.

Clapton didn't really want to be in blind faith. He wanted to play with Stevie W. But not with ginger. He had had enough of ginger when they were in cream.
I believe him when he sang he "had to cry today". So very convincing and powerful voice. We all need to cry sometimes.

A lot of people do it. The Strat has a different neck radius which is more suitable for the sort of string bending Clapton was doing.

camera work is crap
I want the Blind Faith reunion!
I remember the seventies, progressive rock, it was divine.
Except this wasn't "prog" rock, at least not in my book...
more tele than strato
Camera work not so great
How come Clapton avoids the bridge pickup on that solo could have been much more lively
Go ahead and tell him how to play guitar Danny boy.lol
