Going off the tuning your percs part, I have a dope trick that seems simple but if incredibly effective. Tune your kick, snare, and hihat as follows - Minor Beats: Root, +3, +7, Major Beats: Root, +4, +7. Seems simple, and to some unneccasary, but by doing so you subconsciously create a chord within your drums and this helps to make the beat sound polished and full. Also, if you have your hihat at multiple pitches (lower one shots, higher pitched rolls etc), keep these pitched hihats within the beats scale to further emphasise the effect!
Damn good tip man.. now I wanna drop some knowledge. Might as well put it out there.. it helps even furthermore to reverse polarity within percussive instruments so there aren’t as many phase cancellations. As well as panning and layering
I never upload beats on my channel cause it’s a lot of sauce that I don’t wanna drop. But let me know what you think of my new upload. I kinda wanna apply to IM ahaha
Fun tip: when you have the right side of the piano roll and want to copy and paste it using CTRL+B, and you have the right side selected of the loop (bars 4-8) hit CTRL+LEFT ARROW and it will select the first four bars (1-4) for you to hit CTRL+B and not have to select with your mouse again.
@@foeloko It's a lot more satisfying to make something melodic-based with less percussion than a whole drum-kit. It adds space to a track and highlights the main focus without cluttering it all with kicks, hats, and snares if that's your aim. It's good to experiment, though sometimes, you'll find yourself back where you started and realize that maybe the more minimal way others do things is better than loading a fuck ton of kicks and snares with reverb so it blends with the atmosphere..... Y-Ya silly bitch
error404_macros or maybe you can stfu and let me do what I feel like. Did Kanye listen to sway ? Why am I gonna listen to you if you’re no where near sway
First off, let me just say all beats I've ever made have been made with the snare, clap, etc., on the 2 and 4 beat. This making beats at 120-160bpm didn't start until the last 6-7 years when fruity loops started hitting the masses. The only reason beat makers make their beats at that tempo is because they are hearing the speed of the hi-hat, before they even drop it in, when the metronome is moving. This is why those beats seem like turn up beats while they're creating them. Basically, what you make at 140, I naturally would do at 70bpm. Same shit. It's super easy. If i go anywhere over 100, guess what? I still put my clap, snare, and so on, on the 2 and 4 and not the 3 beat. I'm sure you guys that have been doing this for a while know exactly what I'm talking about. It trips me out every time I see a tutorial and they at like 170bpm. Just set it at 85.
@@loo_drip9220 i just don't mind to do the work. Sometimes you gotta work backwards to see things differently & learn something new. I've been making beats since 2009. I've worked in Reason since I started. Although, i enjoy watching fl tutorials b/c it shows me what they have that I could find different methods to do in my daw.
It’s a matter of using your ears, sound selection, and EQing the right frequencies in a beat. Plus, he knows the volume certain sounds need to be to get that ,”clean” result.
Idk about the claim that slow BPMs only bounce if they have swing. I’ve definitely heard songs with slower bpms that utilize good hi hat timing and kicks to bounce
I’ve been trying to figure out that gliding KP FX perc sound that goes with the cowbell in the second beat at 6:06, since I heard pick up the phone (Travis Scott) way back. But I still don’t know where to find it.😤 If you know, help me out, thanks. Flame tho, learned a lot.🔥
Do you guys know why my boost nob doesn’t work anymore so I can’t boost kicks? It used to work in fl 20 but now it doesn’t do anything? Do I need to update?

Dam don’t give out the music theory sauce 😭

Percs are what make beats unique and now there’s an IM tutorial on it, count me in💯🔥
Prod by O.D percs are ONE of the things that makes beats unique lol
😂😂
I been trynna explain this to my mate
If the beat youre making is extremely melodic den dont add too many percussions
Asshole
@@foeloko It's kind of music theory or audio theory. It's best when music has a focus on a certain sound or type of texture.

Dylon Aguilar its easier to do rolls on hihats etc. When youre on a higher tempo though

General rule with percussion only use 1 and 3 on sequencer. 2 and 4 sound so out of place.
LOL what about chants and open hats and the downbeat snare? Just throw it all on the same spot as the kick and main clap? >_
