I was working near Tusaş, the manufactoring plant for T129 and it has crazy maneuverability. Also the requirements for operating in high altitudes and mountain regions dictated some changes. There were serious problems at the beginning of the program but they got better and upgraded the first batches of helicopters later on. It is nearly totally different from A129. It is longer so the fuselage is different from A129. Avionics and most components are different. Although it begin as a copy of A129, they were forced to go and from the experience gained from Agusta there are a couple of indigenous projects in Turkey now.
Oh well it is quite fascinating to see there is infact a major diffrence between the models. To be honest I thought they are all the same. But gotta give kudos to turkey, they are doing and incredible job. Especially with T929 . Thanks alot for the info man! I totally appreciate it!
I've seen T-129 ATAK during Airshow in my country about 10 maybe more years ago. It looked quite nice, and both italians and turks were pitching it to sell it as a license to Poland. It was not even considered which baffled me and some people at the time, especially considering that our ministry cut the budget on development of our own attack helicopter and decided to sit with old Mi-24's. Year later, about now, ex defence minister that was in power back then is being screened as allegedly he and his surroundings were connected to russian inteligence and that they allegedly worked to undermine the defense capabilities of Poland.... makes sense in perspective.
UMTAS irl is a SPIKE analogue. It is fire and forget but gaijin added the laser guided variant of the missile which obviously suffers from having the same rocket engine as the fire and forget variant. Which needed to be slow in the first place so IIR seeker could work more reliably.
Love your videos but I have to say that Italy has an amazing 10.3 line up with the A129CBT. The dardo/HITFIST, leopard 2A4, the ariete (p), centauro, Sidam25 mistral, and the G91YS (I get why you might not want to get this one but it’s a decent ground attacker) make a great line up. The CBT give it a wonderful addition to the lineup to change up the dynamic of the lineup to however you see fit! Sorry I had to make sure my Italian mains are represented bc that line is by far one of MY favorite lineups
Thanks for sharing the info on the ground RB man! Unfortunately I don't have experience in ground realistic battles that's why I really couldn't put my opinion on how it works, im glad that experienced players like you guys help us alot in these situations!❤
The name Mangusta/Mongoose stemming from it being the Cobra killer is just great. I think the reason you rarely ever see the Turkish premium is, besides Italy's already low player count, that it doesn't really have a good missile. The L-UMTAS packs a hefty punch but it's agonizingly slow, while the CIRIT lacks post-pen damage and is very hard to aim due to its exceedingly poor maneuverability and narrow acquisition cone, making them even more difficult to use than APKWS (at least to me, I can hit stuff far more reliably with the APKWS). It takes a lot of effort to make work. Also fun fact about the ATAS, the proxy fuse not working is because they don't have one. They're AIM-92E Stingers which lack the proxy fuse, rather than AIM-92K's which do have one.
Little question, how do you use the APKWS? I tried using a pod of them next to Hellfires on the AH-1Z, got like a kill here and there on anti air or a BMP, but I usually just fired all rockets at different archs at the same time
Oh yes of course and I have to say the name chosen for that helicopter was pretty damn incredible. But yeah not a lot of people play the Italian tech tree and the only way you can access to their helicopters is through the t129. The Casual players will say the helicopter is unplayable. But people Who Experience the Italian tech tree no exactly well how to make the helicopter work. And I'm going to be honest I am not even sure if the stingers are even modelled based on the e or k variants because the game does not even say it's varient. And sadly im not familiar with e or K stingers on the ground SPAA or their differences to begin with. But yea overall the T129 was not as bad as ppl told me.
@@rickdubbink It takes a bit of practice to guesstimate the rockets trajectory after launch but basically, get the rocket to launch so it travels as close as possible to the target on the regular ballistic trajectory, have the target lazed and aim for weakpoints. They don't have a lot of pen or explosive filler so in Heli PvE it's basically a must to aim for ammo racks. One rule I've set myself is not to try and engage below 1.5km, and that's after getting good with judging launch trajectory. If you're struggling, don't engage under 2km. APKWS don't turn very well so if your launch isn't good or you aren't far enough away, the rocket won't be able to steer on target in time.
@@Bob_Dickinson The difference between the E and K Stinger in the game is basically just that the E is direct-hit only, while the K has a 2m radius proxy fuse. Otherwise they're virtually identical. Unfortunately Gaijin chose to use the E model in the ATAS launchers, meaning they require a direct hit to detonate, and server lag can sometimes make it look like it proxy fused when in reality the target was simply rendered slightly out of position, like convoy vehicles in PvE are notorious for.

Love that you did a video on the Mongoose! Great presentation, as usual.
