I've always liked AJ. Solid bowler. He's a powerhouse when he's on. He deserves a shot here.

I disagree with Mr. Flanigan on forgiving the slow pace of Mr. Johnson. Pro bowling is sports entertainment and consideration has to be given to the fans. I have been watching the PBA since 1979 and it would have been worse back then because you couldn't click past the no action delays. I bowled a 290 last Tuesday without slowing things down overthinking my shots. It is like having a Sean Rash balk, but on every shot.

You obviously have never bowled a PBA event, your 290 would have been 180 out on what the bowl on without taking time to line your angles up, get your body and hand in the right position etc, stick to league bowling bud

@@philippomante845 No, but I have been a PBA fan for 44 years. I did go to the 1984 Tournament of Champions. You think a 66 year old man would be competitive in the PBA? I do have a 222 average and just shot a 718 in the city tournament this morning, at an alley I have never bowled at before. One thing I do know is how to recognize slow bowling.

I don’t think flanagan was talking about slow pace in a tv setting, during round play, or even matchplay - just a situation like this where it’s the final match of the night, and for the last spot to make a tv show.

I didnt see anything that slow. If you need rosin or a shoe wipe thats just to get consistent feel anyway. You should go thru all of that every shot, not just some of them.

Actually, the guy that Blomgren reminds me of is Bjorn Borg. Same amount of facial hair, and same competitive demeanor, and very successful.

After reading the comments, I did not realized that the pace was slow. For the complainers, why don't you get out there on the one game rolloff and see how fast you can bowl and think you can win? It is called pacing yourself. Most true bowlers who take their bowling seriously does it with a pre shot routine regardless bowling on a league or PBA.

Gotta give credit to AJ here as far as controlling the pace. Complain all you want of it being slow, but he spotted his opponent's quick rhythm and countered it. It's a viable strategy and it worked.
