I live in a wealthy neighborhood and I find it incredibly hard to give away things, even in our Facebook group. It was much easier when I lived in a middle-class neighborhood. There are a few things at play in this current neighborhood: ° Everyone already has what they need. I've noticed most of the families here are (1) now mostly in the phase of decluttering/minimizing/simplifying, (2) participating in very specific hobbies/activities different from their neighbors so they don't all want the same things, or (3) are into experiences/travel as opposed to buying and owning more things. ° Our neighborhood has an HOA that does not allow leaving garbage cans or items outside except for trash day, so leaving things out for free doesn't happen. We also don't get tons of drive through traffic because of the next point. ° Our community is on a mountain top about 2000 feet in elevation above the surrounding area. A lot of charities will not come up here to pick up donations (it got worse after Covid restrictions). All that being said, a lot of us do take things down to the nearest charity. But I know that sometimes people have a lot going on in their families we may not be aware of and they are just focused on getting things out of their house quickly to create order or they are changing phases in life (kids growing up, empty nesting, making space to take care of aging parent or spouse, retiring, etc). Anyhoo, just thought that might give some insight as to why sometimes people throw away "good things"!

Hey you grab what you grab. I'm as intrigued by watching you and seeing what people throw out. Who in the world could figure out what to do with everything anyways. You rock.
Occasionally, people dump their trash on "my sidewalk." One day they left a bunch of stuff. I became overwhelmed, so what I did is that I kept some of the things (a bunch of little toys and some Christmas decorations). I threw away the "biodegradable trash" (food, etc.). It was really messy. I left the two vacuum cleaners, which I put together (because they were dismantled), there... and an easy chair, which was left upside down. "I fixed everything to look neat, side by side to each other." The next day, to my surprise, "everything was gone !!!" Somebody actually picked up both vacuums and the armchair after I organized everything on the sidewalk. LOL
Take what you want. These people are not you nor have they had your experience... your supporting your family not theirs. Great finds ! Keep on keepin on!

You need a ritzy neighborhood to find nice trash like this. I don't see trash this nice, around me like its usually garbage. A friend of mine once found a glass lamp in the trash in a wealthy neighborhood. He took it home, all that was wrong with it the plug was broken, so he fixed it. Found out the lamp was worth over $200. That was back in the '80s. He and his wife kept the lamp.
True experience, trash day, I see 3 small chrome an glass nesting tables, snag them. At home verify they’re authentic designed by a well known mid century mod designer, checked on line through high end auction houses going for $1,500 and up. Put a local ad out at for half and accepted a very fair offer, sold them! I’d of kept them, but I have enough “stuff”. Hands down my best pick ever!
I put out a stove and a glass top coffee table where the glass had been broken. No sooner did we walk in the house and a young pregnant woman came to the door asking if they could have the stuff. They lost everything to a fire.( there was a big apartment fire just days before) my sister and I pulled it back from the curb, they had to go get a truck. By the time they got back we had cleaned the stove up and I found the books that went with it. My neighbor cut a piece of plywood for the top of the table. Then on top of the stove we all put extra bedding and can goods for them to take.
So glad you’re cool about it. Less going to the landfill because of these guys! We always put our goods - even the smaller stuff onto the curb or right on top of the garbage cans so they find it quickly ✅👌💯

Love your truck …and your 🎶 music 🎼 .
It's great to see that people are taking these items and giving them a second life. Shame that people don't think about donating as we all need to be thinking about recycling and reusing the items we buy. Did my eyes see a gun on the front seat? 😳 I can't see any comments on it so I'm assuming it's normal practice where you are? I live in Ireland so for me it's a strange thing to see.
A couple of years ago I found a round antique table with dolphin-face legs. It was painted white and chipped and the previous owner had painted the top a weird lavender. The paint was ghastly but I liked the table. It sat in my garage for about 3 years, then I decided it would make a nice little table by the front door to hold mail. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 sample-size mixed jars of paint (you're supposed to paint it on your wall to see if you like it but I do other things); one was sort of an ochre and the other was cream. I used the ochre for the base and the cream for the top; I also painted to sides of the top so that it looks like a different piece on top of it. I mixed it with a powder compound first that eliminates the need for sanding; I just hosed it off outside. The compound and the 2 sample jars came to $15. I then went to a glass place and had a piece of glass cut for the top, then I bought an adult coloring book with flowers. I found a pattern I liked and took it to Staples to have it enlarged and shrunk on different pieces of paper because I wasn't sure how I wanted it to look, then I cut everything apart and arranged them in a pattern I liked; leaves and flowers, and taped everything to one side, then flipped it over. I used Tri-Chem liquid silver pen to trace the outlines of everything (otherwise it would have just looked like blobs of color) and bought some textile paints at Michael's with some very skinny-tipped brushes. (I already had some on hand so I didn't have to buy everything.) I did this over a 3-week period to make use of their coupons that come out routinely. When my project was finished, I took off all the taped papers and flipped it over, so that the paint itself is on the table and the glass is on the top. I think the textile paints cost me maybe $20 total. I now have a table that looks like I spent a fortune for it.
I just subscribe to your videos and I'm addicted!! I'm having a blast! You seem like a nice guy. Its incredible the things you find in your videos. major thumbs up to ya! People would throw out stuff like, a complete set of high end antique china, a box of jewels were found, over 100 year old Victorian German and French dolls , on and on. The guy and his wife furnished their whole home over the years with the stuff he came across. beautiful very high end furniture and antiques. If I went during the day a lot of this stuff would already. I’m not the only picker out here that goes at night and there Steven more pickers and scrappers that come by in the morning. I remember when I was living in Dallas Texas my daughter and I would drive the streets and pick up some nice things but be careful I picked up some nice clothes blankets and stuff like that not thinking anything about it brought the stuff in my home separating stuff so I could wash it too find out that crap had bedbugs oh my God I threw away my new bed I just bought and my dressers everything I threw it all away and never got stuff again gotta watch what your bringing in even In your car if you bring bedbugs in your car the bugs attach themselves too your clothing and you take them home
OMG how aweful!
Yeah I got body lice and hair lice from a damn cap I found I thought it was nice took me 3 weeks of hell getting rid of them damn things
Some people are so dirty and nasty 🤮
@@karlagarcia1851 Actually, you don't have to be dirty or nasty to get bedbugs.
Go gett’em cowboy! You find the neatest stuff! Love that we get to see what you find. I’m looking over the items like I’m gonna get it! 😆 lol. Love it when you find “Louie”
And other high dollar bags 🤑. These rich people throw out more than some of us less fortunate have in a life time. Thank you 😊 for thinking of always taking merchandise to the homeless, churches and Good Will Stores. With our world turned upside down and constantly changing, bless you for thinking of others…. Love your truck …and your 🎶 music 🎼 .
Thank you so much
So FuN to tag along with you!💕we live in Houston too! Wishing you continued success!💕
Hey! Thank you! 😎🤘🏽
I know, right??? He was having the best time, finding treasures & appreciating 'good finds' Kudos to the Texas picker!
7:10 is a printer for floor plans seems that the previous owner might me an architect of sorts
Very cool
The music box/car!! I collect those! ❤❤❤
That sucker sold quick at my booth
Pinball machine thingummy has a mid-century modern design. That kind of vintage, SOMEONE is going to want it bad. LOL
It's a pachinko game.
Nice find !
I just subscribe to your videos and I'm addicted!! I'm having a blast! You seem like a nice guy. Its incredible the things you find in your videos. major thumbs up to ya! Hey, I used to work with this lady who her brother-in-law was a garbage man in one of the super, super old money wealthy areas Hillsborough in northern California. People would throw out stuff like, a complete set of high end antique china, a box of jewels were found, over 100 year old Victorian German and French dolls , on and on. The guy and his wife furnished their whole home over the years with the stuff he came across. beautiful very high end furniture and antiques. BTW, driving in the evening like that be sure to stay safe!
Hi thank you for subscribing! Yes people throw out the craziest things! I to have lie of decor in my house that I found. Thanks for watching!!!
I never take TVs but I just got one then went back for the awesome tall tv stand with glass front doors at the bottom. Get home tv works, no remote but too big for the stand. Nice size tv too!
Makes me wish I was still on the trash truck found all kinds of stuff love it
ps: that pachenko game is a RARE score! even if it's broken , it's very valuable! they are the 'slot machines' of many oriental countries, in that they are pretty much outlawed because of people betting on the outcomes of the game.
These videos should be done during daytime
If I went during the day a lot of this stuff would already. I’m not the only picker out here that goes at night and there Steven more pickers and scrappers that come by in the morning. Not only that, the trash in these neighborhoods usually gets picked up early in the morning. It’s a lose lose situation. I know what I’m doing, just sit back and enjoy.
Bed bugs are so bad in my area there's no way I would pick up anything from the trash in my neighborhood.
I agree they're bad all over U.S.
Yes they are. U gotta be careful and those little terrorists are hard to get rid of. They can torment the hell outta u.
Fantastic finds . My first time seeing your videos . Enjoyed it and will be back . Ty for sharing . Blessings 🙏
That was an amazing haul. Too bad you couldn't get that huge printer. Julie from Canada 🇨🇦
Super Haul I so enjoy watching Thank You
Thanks Donna
Love your finds i felt like I was right there with you and you did leave nice stuff behind lol
Nice haul! Thank you for taking us along. ✌
Thanks 🙏🏽
Disgusting that people throw away perfectly good items that can be donated!
Great pick! And I've got a couple cracked up buddies like the squirrel! 😂
I still say, I like how you pake the stuff in the truck. You know how to get her done!!! I watch another guy that picks & he often gets # of comments on how her needs help in learning how to put stuff in his big long bed van. Some times it's nerve rakeing just watching. Also, I like your attitude. So, was wondering if you ever got stuck, from going thru trash cans & bags; when theres this big knive in the trash can your diging thru, EEKS!!! Do take care. (FL.)
Funny you say that because I will get a few comments every now and then from people telling me that I don’t know what I’m doing ! LOL, oh well
Haha I know who you’re talking about! Taco Stacks.. he doesn’t care, he’s more into scrapping than the reselling 😁👌💯💯✅. Still entertaining & relaxing to watch but yah a few tubs in that van would help him out 😅
I was like...what! He's leaving the Clint Eastwood picture!? Like it's any of my business! Thanks for the show!
I took it.
You’re so great that you always tie the bags back up. I’d appreciate that. We have a neighborhood chihuahua that gets into trash cans. That dog is always loose.
You should’ve kept those thermoses.
We have a chihuahua like that too, his name is Frank. LOL
I love your channel and you are one of the RUclipsrs that inspired me to start my own.
I’m so happy I helped inspire you to do this! Best of luck!!!
Car stereos after Xmas used to be plentiful I had tons but these days all factory stuff. When I was in sanitation you new when electronics was good because rich neighborhoods cut cords off all them so they didn't work. Just had replace the cords. That's rich ppl for ya.
No they would cut the cords to sell the wire dude!
I drove past some strange looking stand...ended up being a hand made 3 story doll house. I cleaned it up, had my grandkids play with it a few years, then gave to my younger nieces who LOVED it a few years. THEN when they grew out of it, they sold it for $50....was a GREAT FIND!
6:59 Bro that’s literally the printer we use at my job! It’s hella expensive, it can print anything you want from puzzles ,canvass and posters. That’s crazy that someone would throw that away, like it’s easily a 2,000$ printer.
Yeah I learned that one the hard way. I must say that it was really heavy so I was gonna have a hard time getting that in to the truck
love what you do bro. wish you nothing but the best. great video!
Thank you
I sit here going 🤫 shhhh... they’re going to hear you 🤦🏻♀️ Lol! I wish I had the nerve to do this!
lol, me too! It's really not as loud as you think. The camera picks up everything!
lol ... ditto
Lots of good resale items...Happy Valentine's day! 💗
The Picky
Texan Picker 😂😆
Haha, oh yeah. Well I have to be. I do t have the space and I find more and faster than I can sell
well...as they say, "one mans trash is another man's treasure! So true and good on him. x
Thanks 😊
@@TexanPicker No worries. Remember me when you make your first millions and if you send me your address, I will be sure to come and look through your treasures. lol. x
...when I just re-read my reply to you I had a bit of a giggle as it can be taken in many different ways. gotta laugh! lol.
Hey bro that is an awesome sign especially in rich neighborhood wow I didn't know which people get rid of their stuff and throw it away that's crazy but at least you found it you can sell it have have a wonderful night and be very safe to and I enjoy watching your video very much thank you for sharing sincerely suszie
Thanks Susie
I just stumbled on your channel yayyyy😊 love the content
Thank you!
8:27 that green glass thing with the "bumps" all over it is worth a lot. I can't remember the artist of course, nor what the line is called, but I distinctly remember the antiques roadshow type show that said each piece is worth one's time and whole sets are a total score!
Hobnail
I was just about to say that😂
I love watching your videos!
Thank you Dora
Just found your channel and it's very impressive. Just to let you know that patchinko machine if you still have it it's collectible item and may bring you few hundred dollars if not thousands. You'll be surprised. Good luck
Thank you
I appreciate that
It was nice seeing you with thrifty treasures I just watched her video .
Yes, she told us about the video. Can’t wait to watch. It was a fun time!
