So here's another big medley. Super Mario RPG is to my knowledge the first attempt at a Mario game in an RPG setting instead of the usual platformer. Later games like the Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi series would follow this formula. Seeing that this game was developed by Square who were already known for some of the greatest RPG games of all time you know this was going to be really good. It's definitely a game that has a very of that era kinda of look to it and to me it's quite charming to look at and the soundtrack is amazing stuff! Yoko Shimomura definitely has a bouncy, fun kind of style to her songs and it really works for this game! The funny thing to me is how some of these songs are probably the happiest tunes you'll ever find but some of them are really dark/epic or even gloomy/sad. It's always amazing to me to see how versatile these composers are. The thing I like most about this game besides it having Mario is how it doesn't take itself too seriously and the writing and humor genuinely makes me laugh out loud from time to time. A good example is Mario trying to explain what happened at Bowser's castle and instead of using words he pretty much performs like a mime and shows what happened! Stuff like that is really charming and adorable to me and it makes me feel happy. I gotta say this project was definitely a contestant for the biggest project I ever had to record at this point. I think DKC 2 still wins in that department. I had to record over 20 different tracks for this one! Besides all that behind the scenes stuff I hope you'll enjoy my Guitar Medley of Super Mario RPG for the SNES!

Haha that'll never happen but thanks so much! I really appreciate the kind words and that you feel that way :)
Amazing! I realy liked your take on "Beware the Forets's Mushrooms". Especially with the arpeggiated stuff behind the melody. Awesome man!
Thanks man I really appreciate it! I really like that song as well. I just played what was there in the original haha :)
Really need a part two. I'd love some smithy and culex..
Haha some other people have been asking as well. I'll keep it in mind! Those are great songs :)
I watch this like once a week. It blows my mind that you dont have 10s of thousands of subs. :(
Haha that's awesome! I appreciate you feel that way. Maybe you could share it with friends to see if they like it as well? I feel like the best way to get exposure is by people sharing your stuff to others :)
For a minute I was about to get upset that you didn’t do the forest theme, but there it was. Nice
Haha it's such a good song I had to put it in here! Thanks man! :D
Love it! This makes me want to play the game all over again. Its been a long time since my last playthrough.
Thank you that's great to hear! It's an awesome game to replay :)
Killer set as always! Sick stuff my man

@@LloydTheHammer you're welcome!👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸
Aaahhh!! I got so excited when I saw this in the sub box. I too thought it was gonna be Chrono Trigger but I'm even happier it was this game.
Excellent job on this one, I really liked the percussion at the very beginning and all the transitions. All of the kingdom theme too, that song is so freaking perfect haha. If only you could fit more songs in, there's so much great music in this game. I definitely want to cover more songs from it at some point.
There's this one thing that sounds off to me though, which is the snare rolls in the boss theme. They kinda just sound a bit... weird to me? I think maybe because all the hits are the same velocity. It didn't really take away from the song at all, it just jumped out a bit at me. :)
Thanks so much dude!! Haha I knew you would like this one and I was hoping it would come as a surprise. All of these songs have so much going on and there are some tasty harmonies as well. You hardly notice these things until you break the songs down and find all that amazing stuff :D
You are correct about the snare velocity in the boss battle theme and I did that because when I listened to the original track, I felt like the snare barely or not at all goes up in velocity so I wanted to do it like that as well. I did turn the really fast snares down a notch and kept the snare on the 2 & 4 count to be on the normal level. :)
@@LloydTheHammer I know what you mean about breaking the songs down, whenever I look at a MIDI track and listen to each track on its own, I find so much stuff I never noticed before, and it makes the whole song that much better
@@TripleBMusic Yes I fully agree. These composers truly are musical masters at their craft!
Another game that I always seem to confuse, this time it was Paper Mario :D Great stuff man.
Haha the confusion is understandable. Love Paper Mario as well. Thank you! :D
Excellent as usual Lloyd! :)
Thanks I appreciate that! :) Have you played this game or did you have a favorite track?
@@LloydTheHammer I played this one as a kid but haven't revisited it since then, so its a bit hard to remember all of the soundtrack, but I did recognise the Mushroom-song :) however, I got a huge nostalgia vibe from your video and it kinda made me want to pick up the game again and catch up with the rest of the soundtrack haha :) so well done again :D
@@TheYuke That's awesome to hear!! Yeah I always want to go back and replay the game I did a cover of for some reason haha. Thanks again! :D
So good! I think I say this almost every time, but its the truth dammit! haha
Haha thanks so much man and I really appreciate the kind words! :)
Dude these medleys are awesome and each one seems to get longer and more intricate. Great work!
Thanks Shane! Haha longer and more difficult to make. No complaints though, I love it.
Yeeessssss!!!! I was expecting something Chrono based on your hints haha, but this is a pleasant surprise! This was my favorite game as a kid! And you killed it, dang!! That boss music especially is sick! Ahhh this just makes me so happy
Thanks so much!! I hoped it would come as a surprise and I'm glad it did haha. It makes me happy that you enjoyed it so much and I appreciate it :D
Much respect for this one. One of my favorite games and some of the best music out there. Deserves a part two :)
Thanks man I really appreciate that! :D Haha I know right there were quite a few songs I wanted to do as well so who knows :)
@@LloydTheHammer Maybe the weapons factory??? (That's my favorite one)
@@jeffjefferson5095 I'll look into it :)
@@LloydTheHammer :)
I actually never played this game
It's a good game and a good time so I can recommend it for sure :) I hope hearing the music makes you want to play it at least!
