I’ve never poured inside - you definitely could not get this look by doing so. And I’ve never heard of the paint cracking after time if they’re sealed properly.
They turned out really lovely really really nice job that would’ve scared me so much to take the freshly poured only 24 hours old painting on the other side. Thank you so much for the video that was very helpful. 🤗🙏🥰
These are beautiful. When you taped the 1st completed side, how long did you allow it to dry? I’d be afraid to pull off the paint when pulling off the tape.
I've just found these beauties. Thank you for sharing! I don't know if you have time to answer a question, but just in case: how long do you wait for the paints to dry on one side before being able to tape over it and paint the other side, please? Thank you!!! Susan H.
Hi Susan, thank you so much! In answer to your question: because I’m using housepaint for these (the bloom technique), I do one side one day, and the next day I do the other side. The enamel dries really fast so I can get them all done in a weekend.
I love them, they're all gorgeous. I have a question, I'm sure it's a dumb question but I'm going to ask anyway. Can I add mica powder to white paint or black paint? If I can what kind of paint should I use? instead of buying so many different colors of paint. Thank you
Hi Pam! You can, but it won’t make a lot of difference. Mica is dependent on light for its shine - so if it’s mixed with paint, that paint is going to hinder a lot of the light from reflecting off the mica.
Hi Beth! The tape just peels off. Do it very slowly along the tape line and it’ll come right off. Both sides of the ornament are bloomed on, so they look the same on both sides.
Oh My goodness you soooo inspired me. Bought myself a box of 4. Tops looked beautiful!! However painters tape stuck on previous painted side pooh!! Help what can I do so it doesn't pull off my bloom????
I painted one side at a time. Waited until the first side was dry, removed the tape, then taped off the painted side and poured the other side of the ornament.
Thx for this Britta. I wonder how Polypour or Vivid Enamel would work instead of varnish? I have several bottles on hand. You were able to tape off the painted side after 24 hours? I’m surprised it wouldn’t pull the paint off when removed.
The thing with the Prizm Pour is that you don’t have to mix them with anything. I probably should’ve used them straight out of the bottle and kept the consistency super thick.
@@roxihardegreeart - I’m thinking you’re asking about the torching after varnish them? The varnish is a very thin consistency and the friction created by brushing it on causes air bubbles. You want to definitely pop them before they dry as they can be very noticeable.
Oh my Britt, could they be any prettier! If you could show me how to do this on a porcelain ball ornament I would be in heaven! I have 50 that I need to do before December. Or, I'll have to do alcohol inks on them again this year. Anyways, your creativity is endless! ♥♥♥
@@BrittClaytonDesign I need to keep trying different things, but I believe that the thicker the paint, the better. I'll share what I come up with when I have them completed.
When you say 3.5p of the floetrol what does the p stand for? And do you have a link for floetrol? I’ve heard many say they use the Australian and that some of the others are the wrong kind and won’t work…I don’t know what the difference is when looking it up
Hey Bonnie! The p stands for part. Your basis for measuring is usually the amount of paint you use. So if you use an ounce of paint, that would mark your ONE part. I used 3.5 parts of Aussie Floetrol, which would be 3.5 ounces. You can find Australian Floetrol at www.Fluid-Art.co. Go to their website and look at the photo of it. Then look up Flood Floetrol on Home Depot’s website. You’ll see the difference in the bottles.

These are beautiful. When you taped the 1st completed side, how long did you allow it to dry? I’d be afraid to pull off the paint when pulling off the tape.
I let them dry about 24 hours. You’re using bloom recipe paint, which is enamel, so it dries very quickly and it’s pretty tough.

The tape shouldn’t have stuck to the painted side at all. Did you use the untinted house paint and varnish as your pouring medium?
Did I miss something? Does the paint seep under the tape or did you place the tape over dry painted side before doing side 2? Love it!
