I wanted to open a place here in comments to talk about my controversial take that "Nas is overrated." First of all, that is not actually an insult. I think that a lot of awesome things are overrated. Here are two more examples: Bacon and Quentin Tarantino. I love BLTs and Pulp Fiction probably more than most people. Still, I think that people overrate them. Nas is similar. He has a lot of great albums and KD2 is definitely one of them. I just don't think that he is "top 5" material. I don't think that it is out of the question and if you think he is "top 5" I'd think you had good reasons. For me, his voice and flow are not engaging enough. Thats it. I think that we are blessed to have him still making good albums so late into his career and that he has never really lost it.
But please let me know why I'm wrong! I'm totally open to counterpoint. Just know that there is no hate here, but perhaps a love that is overly critical.

This is a classic for the Era of hip hop we are in today. It’s a shame that a lot of people might not see that possibly until 20 years later when people might review hip hop in this time line and say which rap album did you love.
This album will definitely stand the test of time . Hit boy did an amazing job modernising some of the jazzy soulful beats to fit this era of hip , also giving him beats that Nas wouldn’t possibly rap over .
Beats like 40side with that vibe of vibe but changing it up to fit Nas taste & YKTV with collaborations you wouldn’t thing Nas would like to collaborate with & and with a beat that would see playing in hip hop in terms of what we here today
So overall to me apart from the EMPD track I wasn’t too much feeling the album it’s a classic & to here Nas say on Apple Music that the next project with Hit Boy might be magical because of there connection with one another makes me excited for there next project

The line "Don't nobody owe you, ain't nobody holding you back" most likely refers to the unfair expectation of that a well off black man (especially black celebrity) has a responsibility to be a good example, uplift his community and help others make a way for themselves. Although it is a noble deed, celebrities of other races aren't pressured like the black celebrity, historically and currently. It sounds political because the community looks to be saved by celebrities more than actual politicians.
