Cannot believe people are still buying these $1000 exhaust systems for our trucks. Go to a muffler shop. Have them remove the stock muffler and weld in a Y-Pipe and run a straight pipe. Costed me $80 in March of this year (2024). Blows this as well as all other expensive exhausts out of the water as far as sound goes. Very deep growl and can be heard from down the road!

Thanks for the added tutorial besides the instructions that came with the kit. Was helpful. Little longer than you took to get it on. But don't have a hoist. Had to also cut off the nuts and bolts that connect the cat converters to the exhaust pipes as they were too old. The edges couldn't even hold a socket or a wrench. Never been touched before but got deteriorated and rounded over time with salt and water. So anyone else, get ready for this if your truck is old. Shear the nuts off with a grinder and take a center punch and a hammer to smash the bolt through the hole. It will give eventually through the rust. Used an axle stand to hold the muffler in place, while installing. Perfect height, if you don't have a hoist. Also, when putting the clamps on any part of the whole kit, put them on with the nuts in a position that you can get at them with the socket, other wise you'll have to detach pipes and redo your work just to turn the clamp around to access the nut to secure it. Attached the two tips to the last two pieces of pipe beforehand, and then held those pieces up with an axel stand under the tip to hold it in place while securing the pipe to the other pipe before it, to get proper spacing. Otherwise it went according to plan. Sounds nice and not too overbearing/obnoxiously droning. Good quality product. Feel free to start the truck up while it has no cat-back exhaust after you drop the old one out, before you put the new one in, and giver a couple revs just for some childish straight-piped fun and wake the neighbours.

I just installed this kit a week ago on my 2021 Tundra. Its a great affordable bolt on kit but does not offer any noticeable sound agression from stock. Today I removed the king sized muffler that comes with this kit and replaced it with two 24214 Thrush glass packs ($68 for 2) for a true dual exhaust. Now it sounds way better....surprisngly the cabin noise is still very tolerable. If you want louder than Tundra 5.7 stock this isnt the kit but it can be easily modified and I still recommend

Great video. Thanks! Question for you: how easy is it to swap out the muffler w a more aggressive one if I'm not happy with the sound? Would I end up having to cut some of the pipes because the length won't necessarily match up with a new/different muffler or are mufflers similar in length for a tundra?

Is the “R” in the rough country logo on the muffler the inlet side and is supposed to to be facing the front of the truck and the “C” in the logo supposed to be to face the rear of the truck?
