When Brad is jabbing at Lex about her preference for drums or guitar, I loved how she defiantly threw it back at him with, "let's play Free Bird, let's play Free Bird, right now"! You just flat out rock Lex, and it's a joy to watch.
He is so often clueless
?
You got to do Bad Motor Scooter next by Montrose. It's a Banger 😎
As a life-long motorcyclist, I strongly agree with this comment.
I'm not an astronaut, but I also recommend Space Station No.5 :)
My favorite Montrose ripper for sure
Make it Last is another good one.
@@nickcrisp7252 Did you catch the Biker Rock Stream? They did it but it still isn't posted.
Such a talented band!!! 🔥🔥
Ronnie Montrose - R.I.P.
was a under rated guitar player.
Loving Sammy Hagar's vocals 🔥
Next listen to
"There's Good Rockin Tonight"🔥
How about, Bad Motor Scooter
A musicians musician. Montrose was a guitar hero for many.
Yep, Boz Skaggs, Edgar Winter, Mott the Hoople, Gary Wright, Hebie Hancock, etc... his guitar work is all over the 70's. BTW... Sammy Hagar is on vocals here I believe?
You bet, one of the best of his time.
Ronnies best song ever (Voyager)
Gamma
Loved Sammy Hagar at this early stage of his career, and Ronnie Montrose always had those crazy cool riff's, Three lock Box was another good jam.
Three Lock Box...I played that whole album so many times back in the day. Good stuff.
And heavy metal from the soundtrack of the same name
Sammy with Montrose, and solo, was a badass, no two ways about it! Excellent singer and guitarist! I still remember hearing when Dave and Eddie were having issues and there was talk of Dave leaving, and I said to me friends “Dude it would be so awesome if Sammy joined Van Halen!” Well … admittedly, it was a bit of a disappointment, not as good as Dave Van Halen, nor Sammy solo, but still pretty great!
@@buzzbomb67 I don’t know 5150 was a superb album and they were terrific live also
@@johntremmel3949 no argument! The only time I saw VH live was on that tour … it is still the best live show Ive been to! By a LONG shot, and Ive seen a bunch of legendary bands, known for their big live shows! I mean, dont get me wrong, they were still a fantastic band, and those first three albums were technically as good as any, but in my head, I was absolutely positive it was gonna be way harder and heavier than it turned out to be. Lol expectations inevitably fall short of reality.
I see Lex reacting to guitar solos. She gets the facial expressions, the shoulders going up and back, the head goin side to side. She'll grimace at the high notes and "oooh" with the lows. She's definitely a guitar solo girl
Every member of this band became instrumental in the history of Rock after and during this album.
"SPACE STATION #5" FROM SAME ALBUM IS ANOTHER GREAT "ROCKER"👊
One of the greatest rock albums of the 70’s and easily top 50 all time IMO
All songs are great. Bad Motor Scooter is My favorite
Space station number 5 is a MUST!
Yes!!!
I agree!
Yes
Yes! I was gonna say it too but I’ll add the whole album is just great!!
Absolutely!
Montrose slaps! Next listen to Bad Motor Scooter, I Got the Fire, or Space Station #5.
GAMMA
@@waynepuckett5839 Yeah!
@@waynepuckett5839 Voyager
@@waynepuckett5839 and Robin Trower
Montrose and Foghat were on tour in early 70's when I was in Jr. High. One great concert.
The whole Album is a masterpiece and very influencial.
Yup! It had a major influence on VH-1.
Glad you all reacted to this, such a great rock song. Drums and guitar riff are killer in this one.
Now you're talkin'. Every track a gem.
Love the Montrose album. Check out Space Station No 5.
I heartily recommend Space Station #5 by Montrose for a reaction vid. When that guitar starts up, it's literally like blasting off!
Great song and album from 1973 and first year of college! You two have a great day!
This song is 50 years old. I just saw Sammy Hagar and the circle perform in So Cal and Sammy's voice is still great at 75!
Montrose was one of my favorite bands out of the '70s. I saw them a couple times in the early '70s. Bad Motor Scooter is probably my favorite song. Sammy Hagar actually started playing for Ronnie Montrose when he was 17 years old. I love the reaction! keep the early Rock coming! R. I. P. Montrose!!!!
One of the greatest rock songs ever recorded !!
Very early Sammy Hagar. This album always makes it to the turn table on vinyl night. \m/
I have this on vinyl too🤩
Interesting choice old school rock Sammy Hagar lead vocals and Ronnie montrose lead guitar
Love montrose. Was surprised to see you guys react to it. Everybody knows Sammy hagar. But Ronnie montrose was awesome. Try bad motor scooter.
warms my heart seeing you young people love this music and all the music you do.
One of the most underrated bands ever. Grunge, before grunge rock was even a thought.
A good example of a banger.
Ronnie Montrose was one of my personal favorite guitarist. In the 80s he founded a studio band called Gamma that came out with one of my all time favorite songs called Voyager. Lex please listen to me"If ever there was a song that exemplified the roll of a guitar in a song this is it". While there are some dated sounds coming from this band, remember this was the era of the synthesizer. They produced some powerful music. The 3 albums are simply named Gamma 1-2-3. They are well worth a listen by any music lover because they cover a lot of ground. I myself love the bluesy rock sound that he and lead vocalist Davey Paterson gifted us. Again the song is called Voyager. ; )
Gamma is bad ass!
You do know that the lead singer is Sammy Hagar, right? He also sang lead for Van Halen after David Lee Roth left, after a successful stint on his own
And solo. And Chickenfoot. Wabos. The Circle. Just a good rocker
In other breaking news Japan surrendered on VJ Day in 1945
Sammy has a ton of solo hits, and his Van Halen stuff too, love sam the red rocker
@@pulsarlights2825 lol jeez. I do think it's vital information. Because they are young. Montrose is not widely known. So they needed at least one or 2 to mention VH in comments. I would have typed it. But I don't enjoy Hagar's voice
@@mattjohn4731 Hagar can still hit the high notes at 73, Roth never could at 23, but he did look good in those assless chaps....lol
Finally..............Thank YOU!!! Now get on Your Bad Motor Scooter and Ride.
The rythm of every rock band is the soul bass and drums
Love Montrose....However, the only place I ever envisage this being played super loud is a strip joint lmao....or my living room whilst cleaning
Lex's sound effects are... phenomenal !!!
Sammy Hagar’s voice was crazy good on this album and continued to be great throughout his career. He was listed on the cover as “Sam” Hagar which I thought was interesting - since we all know him as Sammy. Space Station #5 and Bad Motor Scooter are bangers as well on this album!
Love this song I was old enough to appreciate it when it came out
It's crazy that you're reacting to this song. Just today on my lunch break we were in my boss's office and I put his playlist on random and this song came on. And I told my buddy. I said I'll give you twenty bucks if you can guess the singer of this band. After a few lines he said "is it Sammy Hagar?" I was like f*** off you ain't getting $20 I was just playing. Lol
Ronnie Montrose is criminally underrated as a guitarist. His first 2 albums are hard rock masterpieces. Denny Carmassi on drums was a beast for them and Heart while Sammy Hagar provides a frontman with Swager and that primal scream. Killer track on a killer album. Do Space Station #5, Bad Motor Scooter and Rock the Nation. Great stuff, Enjoy! 🎸
HELL YA! AS SOON AS I SEEN THIS POP UP? LET'S ROCK THIS MO-FO👊
Ronnie Montrose was one of the most talented guitarists in rock. This album influenced many rock musicians and bands, and was a huge influence on Eddie Van Halen
How many of us danced for our man to this back in the day? 🙋
Saw them live in Houston with Journey and Van Halen. Montrose opened the show and they sped up most of their songs as compared to the recorded speed on the 8 tracks we had. After the show we were trying to figure out how to rerecord our tapes only faster.
Marching to Mars, the Hagar album has a couple tracks that are a full on (tiny) Montrose reunion and those tunes SLAP, wish they did a whole Montrose album together, but yeah. ROCK ON!
Love the riff on this. Try Space Station #5, also a great heavy riff.
1973… This recording is so raw, which makes it so great. You can literally hear the power tubes in the Marshall’s getting pounded, and the speakers screaming. Great, great riff
Ahh, old school classic. Has to be very VERRRRY loud when played!!!
I loved your comment about finding this band early in a grungy downtown club - below street level. Spot on! I'd have loved to see these guys.
LOL! I SEE LEX GETTING INTO THAT ROCK FUNK ... CAREFUL GIRL, DONT WANT THAT TO CAUSE LINES! LOL!
LEX!!!
You will love BUDGIE, GUARANTEED!!! Check them out! BUDGIE, “Breaking All the House Rules”
My vote for an introductory Budgie tune, would be "I Ain't No Mountain"..
"Make it last" is my favorite.
WOW!! First time I've seen anyone react to this amazing song!! A very young Sammy Hagar giving you just a taste of his future awesomeness on vocals, and Ronnie Monstrose just killing it on guitar .. thanks for taking me wayyyy back with this one!!
Ronnie Montrose was a close personal friend. Amazing talent and a really awesome person. RIP Ronnie....miss u my friend!
The Whole Album Smokes !!!
One of THE BEST rock albums not to mention debuts of all time! Make it last or Space Station #5 next.
Love seeing you both in the same groove, like in those first couple minutes.
Sammy Hagar on vocals. I only discovered this band a few years ago. This album is now a regular on my playlist.
The next one has got to be "Bad Motor Scooter"!💯 (same album) Lexa will go crazy over the guitar!🤪🤗 Can't wait!😂🤣✌❤
Just another comment about how this whole album is 🔥 🔥 🔥
This album is on my list of top 10 hard rock albums of all time. Love it.
Love this song! The very first thing I learned to play on a drumset back in the mid 70's!
SAMMY! Went to Cabo for one of birthday parties and was front row center. Got news from drummer who was staying at our resort that there was a surprise show that night! It was unbelievable!
These two are just really cool people.
Love your taste in music Lex! Also, your enthusiastic spirit!
Ronnie could really make his guitar beg for mercy. That Dude was a grand master.
HOW FUNNY, I LITERALLY RAN INTO RONNIE MONTROSE IN CAMPBELL CALIFORNIA, 20-25YRS AGO ... WAS DRIVING THRU AN INDUSTRIAL AREA & HEAR THIS AWESOME GUITAR WORK ... FOLLOWED THE SOUND TO A ROLLUP STORAGE UNIT AND THERE HE WAS ... IM NO GLORIY HOG, I RECOGNIZED HIM, TOLD HIM HOW MUCH I ENJOYED HIS MUSIC ... HE PLAYED A SONG, I THANKED HIM AND I LEFT! WOW! THE LEAD SINGER ON ROCK CANDY IS SAMMY HAGAR LATER OF VAN HALEN(VAN HAGAR), SORRY I NEVER LIKED HIM MUCH ... AND YES I MET HIM A COUPLE TIMES IN CABO SAN LUCAS ... WELCOME TO MY LIFE!
That whole album is straight fire
Lex gets the rock vibe !!!!!
My FIRST proper rock record - Much as I loved Jimi Hendrix, The Who etc, they all sounded like POP really by comparison. Played the album to death as loud as possible. (PS - THEN I discovered ACDC!)
Badass rock and roll here folks true
Sound from the 70's masterpiece
All the Band is super talented
This "is a Jam!" Had the album all those years ago. This gave Sammy Hagar a great start.
My band Ichabod Crane (Steve Bryant- drums, John Parker- bass, me on guitar) learned and played this as soon as the record came out.
The first Montrose tune I played in a cover band back around 82-83 was Rock the Nation. More recently, I auditioned with Bad Motor Scooter. This stuff has not faded since that album came out.
"I've Got the Fire" or "Space Age Sacrifice" are 2 underrated and awesome songs off of their 2nd album..
Arguing about the guitar, Lex said; let's play "Freebird" - priceless.
There was not enough guitar in Freebird was there? Sarcasm. Loved the 80's hair stream last night. Grew up in the middle of it as a teen. Wanted more songs though, good choices through the requested. Do a 70's rock theme stream, over time that has become my favorite rock decade, Sabbath, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, KISS (my fav), ACDC (bon Scott), Eagles, Frampton, Montrose, Bad Company, Boston, Rainbow, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers.....I can go on forever.
Love the Band way back in the day!
Thanks guys!
Classic rock defined! Ronnie (Montrose) put Sammy (The Red Rocker) Hagar on vocals for this and several other hits for the band.
Hagar is my lifestyle icon! Inducted into the Rock and Roll HoF as the Singer for Van Halen, numerous solo hits including I CAN'T DRIVE 55 and launched two lines of top shelf liquors...
Spends much of his free time slinging shots at his bar in Cabo...and still rockin'in his 70s!
I recommend WHERE EAGLES FLY.
This was my first rock concert I was 14, they opened for Boston Nacogdoches, TX 1979
thats a 1974 eargasm - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS!
and if you like this 70's guitar work, you really should check out Robin Trower. Day of the Eagle or Too Rollin' Stoned are good starter songs, but if you want wicked blues go for Rock Me Baby from first album.
"GRAND FUNK RAILROAD" HAS GOT TO BE COMING SOON 👍
"Footstomping Music". Oh yeah!
@@johnpierce3426 hopefully they'll do "Inside looking out" without the covering on the screen👍✌❤🤘
@@Montyhugo I have been suggesting “Inside Looking Out “ live version for months now!!
Would Love to see their reactions to all that rawness and energy!!
I think what Lex was saying is that the drums get her started but the guitars finish her.... ;-)
Lex bopping to a song always makes me smile.
This was great road or traveling music..😎
Great reaction & review you two!..👍👍
Lex loves it when the guitar and drums meet 😊
Bad Motor Scooter and Rock The Nation are classic Montrose jams! A nice follow up to Montrose on many mix tapes I made wax Robin Trower Day of The Eagle of Bridge of Sighs.
Back when these guys were starting out in the SF Bay Area, you could find Many small and underground clubs with this kind of music going on along with other stuff like punk, jazz, rock of every kind... every night there was a show to be in many parts of the bay.
This was a young Sammy Hagar fronting this band on Vocals and second guitar while Ronnie Montrose was the master lead guitar. Brings back memories growing up in the bay of seeing these guys in clubs or headlining or supporting lineup at big concerts.
That album is all solid rock
Hey, Brad. I'm a woman who grew up on what is now Classic Rock. Always loved drums but especially love guitar, especially a good, soaring guitar solo. Never once played air guitar in my life. It's more of a guy thing.
It's obvious Lex feels it to her core. No air guitar needed.
You two are so cute together & it's good to see you loosening up.
Keep up the good work.💙☮
I was a DJ at the u of Iowa when this came out. I wore this record out when I bought it. There were so many great Bands that came out in 73. We're talking Queen, Aerosmith, BTO, kiss, just to name a few.
THANKS FOR THIS CLASSIC BY MONTROSE, BRAD AND LEX. BUT I AKSED FOR 'BAD MOTOR-SCOOTER' BY THEM. CAN YOU REACT TO THAT ONE TOO. THANKS, BRAD AND LEX! The best reaction duo on the Tubes. The best, I tells ya. The Best!
also, for this 70's "hard-pop/rock" style, Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo by Rick Derringer CANT BE BEAT.
Right on...I hope u all know what I'm talkin' about...The way u wiggle that thang really wipes me out...
I love it when Lex laughs when she realizes she drums
The first Montrose album is hands down one of the greatest classic rock albums of all time.
Rock the Nation sizzles, too.🤟 Ronnie Montrose 🎸jammed like Jimmy Page.
Lex: "I only imitate guitar when it's warranted...put on "Freebird". LOLOLOLOL
I don't know if my neighbors back in 1979 liked this album, but they sure listened to it with me many many times. It also is possible they were happy when I moved. Still have it, still listen to it.
Lex is right on the money. Love it this is a jam.Hell yeah it is.
The fact that this was 1973 is amazing
She said she likes guitar Brad!!! Lol.
Love Montrose! Such a great album!
Make It Last an all-time favorite!
The legendary Ronnie Montrose. One of the Guitar Gods of the 1970's. RIP Ronnie Montrose. Sammy Hagar is on vocals here.
