New format is much better! You don't get overwhelmed with everything, don't lose one another and still get to make the decisions together. And Jen clearly enjoys being in charge of all the action 😀
I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for these streams, I've been watching for only a couple of weeks but they definitely made the impending feeling of doom (also known as Mondays) a lot more bearable 😀
Your question about 1 and 3 vs 2 and 4 beats is a really good one! You can sort of glean whether the accents fall on the 1st and 3rd or the 2nd and 4th beast through context clues, sometimes. But it's largely down to just feeling the beat, and some songs exploit this by introducing a piece of music for a while, letting the feel sink in, and then changing the starting point of the bar through context. (e.g. A song with a strong 1 and 3 plays for a while, and then a new instrument like a drum kit is introduced, with its downbeat on 2, disorienting the listener before they readjust to 2 and 4. Or it'll move the 1 and 3 one beat over. It's really very loose and malleable, and down to how we perceive it.)
i had an idea: if you ever go incognito again and leave a hint for the discord, con goers could cosplay as you two in incognito mode so no one can tell who's the real you
Ty for another fun stream. Dev stole the show with her amazing performance, those Bae'zel creche scenes are some of the best 💙. Loved hearing about your incognito comic con adventures (although the undercover outfits do give me "shadowheart trying to hide her deity but forgetting she wears Shar armor" vibes 😂). Hoping to meet you at the october comiccon!
You can get Lae'zel's approval and no debuff by convincing her not to use it if you have good approval with her. She also still has the character development moment, just a little later (you can share your memory with her)
I'm so glad y'all are really falling for your tavs. That's what makes this game so special to me. My first singleplayer tav took me 96 hours to get to the epilogue camp, and it took me several days to mentally/emotionally prepare to close up her story like that. Klaya was my first, but since then it's never gotten easier to say goodbye.
Oh yes much better as a viewer too to have single screen. And I can imagine that it's wayyy harder to play with split screen. There is sooo much information on the screan
I watched this intense ass chapter while high off my fuckin gourd... what an experience lmfao. Good work so far with the creche! And the new format is very much the right choice, you both seem much more comfortable with it.
Another fan here of the non-splitscreen setup, even if it somewhat dampens Ver's "main character" energy 😉 W.r.t. the many varied pieces of advice in chat on how to handle the Zaith'isk situation, I think that's primarily testament to the many different approaches the game supports here. Obviously, there's no "wrong" way to deal with this situation (or any other): some people prefer to play the game as "efficiently" as possible, some will choose to do what most benefits their Tav in the short term, some will choose what most helps Lae'zel, or what keeps the most options open, story-wise, or whatever other thing is important to them. So, most importantly (in my opinion): choose what feels right for *your* story. Of course, if there's a certain outcome you know about and want to achieve, people will be happy to guide your play-through. But discovery is a big part of the game, so just save often (just incase some god-like creature "Wishes" your characters to die) and go with the flow. And above all, have fun 😄 (which it certainly looks like you're having).
My first Tav was a half-elven Wild Magic Sorcerer named Scarlett (I loved the aliteration). Man that was so much fun with all the crazy Wild Magic Surges popping off.
Hope you will feel better soon. I love how Aliona evolved into a Golden/Black Labrador and is just so happy and YES we love our Tav´s most have spend 100+ hours with that Character.
At the end where the decision is to eat or fight. The addiction is real. 😂 I’m sure most of us have all found that decision hard to make. Next thing you know you should have been asleep a few hours ago.
To try and answer the tadpole question: TL;DR: nothing really bad happens from tadpoles, do what you want for your character and play how you want! Consuming the tadpoles will “unlock illithid powers”, which are just helpful extra abilities, but not necessary overall. There’s a lot of powers and tbh it can get overwhelming to navigate. Some companions need to be persuaded to consume the tadpoles bc they don’t want to eat worms (for some reason). There’s no negative effects aside from just the ick factor, except for a special tadpole in Act 3 that does change your appearance if consumed. There’s very little impact on the story that I’m aware of either way. That said, don’t feel like you need to consume tadpoles, I tend to roleplay it so my Tav doesn’t consume any and it’s completely fine.
I'm really sorry to hear about the health scare, hope you're feeling better now ❤! When I heard though about you being little sneaky gnomes at MCM as I was on my train back home, my jaw dropped! Hopefully I'll get to meet you one day! - met some OGAD folks at Con and it was amazing! And I also have Tiff's SH sticker, it's great!
“Hi, sorry I’m late (to the stream/vods)” slowly catching up on your streams now I’ve played through acts 1 and 2 so can watch without spoilers. The simple answer to the question of who goes in the Zaithisk - if your character uses tadpole powers, they go in (because passing the checks makes tadpole powers a bonus action instead of an action), otherwise, it is entirely up to you who goes in. Lae’zel is a bit more story related, but not a massive difference. Whoever goes in, there can be consequences for failing the checks, generally temporary, and some checks are easier than others for your character. I can’t imagine what chat looked like to both of you with ADHD, there are clearly some times it’s best to ignore them/us because they/we make a bowl of spaghetti look like a Roman road. Loving your positive, enjoyable videos, looking forward to catching up so I can watch live.
How did you manage to get it single screen? The only reason me & hubby won't play together is the split screen. I play on Xbox and he plays on PS5 since cross play won't be a thing till next year 😢
Hey! J & A originally started the save with split screen and then changed to this view. If you want to have two tavs but play on one screen, you have to start a game with co-op split screen and make your tavs as normal. Then when you get into the game, if you then start BG3 up again but only use one controller/player it will let you play the save on one screen but use both Tavs. You'll have to swap between yourself and husband who's playing though. Hope that helps. 😊
That was a great stream Just for next time, firstly the entire crèche is hostile now, so if you want some xp, you can fight as many of them as you want, you can even long rest in between and teleport back in via the way point You can get the mace people are talking about in two ways, by solving a puzzle up in the monastery ruins, which would let you see more of the map and there are a couple more interactions and fights up in the monastery , and you might want to get a helmet that's outside anyway. Or you can brute force it. And since you wanted to see Bernard the robot in the tower, it would probably be best to do that before moving on to sct 2. Oh and I got a bunch of your book recommendations, since I'm trying to read more again and especially read more different stuff than previously
If I might offer one piece of advice, I would say not to depend so heavily on the chat. Pick the dialogue options you want instead of what chat screams at you in all caps. There's not really a wrong way to play the game and it won't spring any catastrophic decisions on you without plenty of forewarning. Letting the chat dictate your every scene to reach "the best possible outcome" isn't a true reflection of your own choices. To use Dev as an example, Grace almost never tells her which option to pick or orders her to reload and do something again. Her answer is almost always "It's up to you" or "What do you think?". And Dev is doing great.
[D&D LORE SPOILER WARNING!!!] BRO WTF DID YALL CATCH THAT VLAKITH USED A WISH SPELL?? she aint powerfull at all, she just hoards spell scrolls in order to pretend to be a god. that was a really cool detail. i only noticed that by rewatching this and i've already finished this game twice! (edit: someone mentioned it in shat and i didnt notice up until now lol)
Her Strength is suppoesed to drop to 3, rendering unable to wear her armour, so it must be a scroll! There's a Power Word: Kill ritual later in the game (also another level 9 spell), and at least one other Wish. The effects of some of the higher level spells start getting a bit weird and difficult to model within a computer game's rigid framework compared to the tabletop version of the game, so they limited player levels to 12.
@@punishedcrow It’s very late in the game, I wouldn’t want to spoil, but you did ask… bail out now! On the route to Orin’s place, there’s an ambush. Any more would spoil too much.
Gonna be honest, these choices skipped so much of Lae's character development in understanding what Vlaakith is really like, and how she's been deceived. And Dev's performance in those scenes is so good. What is D&D without a little party conflict?
Please stop using Lae'zel's bow when she can melee! You're leaving so much damage on the table (melee goes off of her Strength while ranged attacks go off Dexterity). Hunter's Mark first (+1d6 damage per hit), and then start wailing with a 2 hander! Also, remove Fire Bolt from Shadowheart's bar (it will never hit). Sacred Flame is more effective, plus it applies -1 to opponent's attack rolls with the radiant orb debuff (getting more Luminous items will increase this). Before you start next stream's action, Ver needs to re-equip her hand bows! Also, [keeping this spoiler free] there's plenty in this room and its annexes to find, including a secret passage for a major weapon for Shadowheart. As a bit of info you enquired about when you were in the prism, Scrolls are one-use spells, so handy when you're out of spell slots, and you WILL be out of spell slots before your next long rest is available. In a similar vein to Scrolls, Elixirs should be drunk at the start of the day or before a big fight (Elixirs last until the next long rest, and you can make them using Alchemy).
Now I realize why Lae'zel's been pretty awful with bows in my playthroughs lol. Should she be melee exclusive or are there any situations or items where using ranged would be beneficial for her?
bit of an overreaction from chat with Lae'zel's story being enhanced by sitting on the Zaith'isk...there's the interactions with W'wargaz and Voss that I'd argue are way more impactful whereas who sits in the chair is immaterial in terms of story direction

Single player view for the win. This was easier to follow and nice to look at. Thanks for making the change.
Make that change 🎶
You share in Lae'zel's agony. Every Lae'cell within her Lae'skull bursts into a constellation of Lae'fragments.
¨Jen is getting so good at fighting¨ said Aliona before being blasted in the face by light bolt (critical strike btw)
