  • So, it's come to this. This is the series finale for the System Test series at my parents' house. It's one heck of a system, so much in fact that I can't show it all in one part because even part 1 is already nearly 20 minutes.
    Also sorry for the autofocus craziness, was using my Olympus camera for the A-roll and I didn't have the AF settings set quite right, it turns out.

    The functionality and simplicity of this system is very neat. Gets the point across, designed to protect the house and safety. Well done! For someone who’s watched your videos going all the way back to 2009 (with the 8005, and the mechanical horns, and whatever “contraptions” you had up then :P), thank you for all you’ve done in the alarm community. I only wish you the best for your future ahead. Life changes frequently, I can say that for damn sure (coming from someone who’s taking an electronics course in college). Interests also come and go, so whatever you end up pursuing in, make the best of it. Take care Andrew

    Thanks for the system tests. I really enjoyed the experiences and the knowledge that your tests gave me. Also it was your videos that started my interests in alarms and convinced me to take a career in wiring and testing systems. Beautiful install, your wiring and overall installation work is superb. I must say this video was very well made, a great choice for a panel too. I'm not sure if the B series supports it, but some of the classic Radionics systems supported a function called invisible walk, that if I remember correctly, permits you to walk test points without any indication from the bell output. I'll see if I can find an equivalent on the B series, if it exists that is. Also, I would recommend adding a sked in the panel that just makes sure that the relay for your silent test thing is reset at midnight or something, just in case someone forgets to reset it manually and doesn't notice the trouble. In any case though, great setup and cannot wait to see part 2.

    Even though you changed a ton of stuff, it’s a very cool system! I’m actually a sucker for security systems (especially older and rare ones) and can safely say they somewhat interest me more than fire alarms. Can’t wait for part 2!

    I think this is a great way to end the system test series; it drives home the point that at the end of the day, these systems are not intended to be messed around with all the time, and are in place to protect people’s lives. I’m sure this system will give your parents some serious peace of mind after you move out!

    Nice setup! (nice job putting it together as well, how you power those 24VDC Gamewell 60As with 12VDC however I have _no_ idea) I can perfectly understand why you redid it so much; it started out as a hobby system for personal fun, but now it makes sense to make it an actual life safety system (I myself sorta prefer standalone demonstration boards anyway). I can also understand why this is the finale for home system tests; the system is not likely to change at all after this, so if you did multiple tests they'd all be the same, & I'm sure you've gotten tired of doing such tests as well.
    Good choice making the fire tone 520hz, since that's the tone most likely to wake up sleeping individuals. Are the actual voice messages the defaults?
    I look forward to not only part 2 but anything else you might have planned (or otherwise might do in the future).

    • @NewAgeServerAlarm
      @NewAgeServerAlarm  2 года назад +1

      Those smoke detectors are actually rated for 9 to 30 volts.
      I chose 520 Hz because my parents are elderly and it has the highest chance of waking them up.
      Those are not the default messages, I came up with them myself. The male voice is actually a computer voice that actually sounds really good.

    It's been a long ride seeing your system tests for the past 14 years and then closing the curtains to end this series. I can't wait to see what you have in stores for the future of your channel if RUclips doesn't make anymore ridiculous updates.
    Aside of seeing the series coming to an end, my local auto parts store I work at uses a Bosch security as well (don't remember if they use a B4512). However, they use Bosch D1255 series keypads instead those B920 models. Are the D1255 keypads different compared than the B920s other than the looks? I know they both have the same sounds.

    • @NewAgeServerAlarm
      @NewAgeServerAlarm  2 года назад +1

      D1255 keypads actually communicate on an older data bus that the B series panels are not compatible with. Your local store most likely has a D7212 or D9412 or some newer variation of that, which is a classic radionics panel

    Hello from the UK!!! I always used to watch your videos when I was younger and seeing what systems are like in the US so it’s a nice last bit of nostalgia 😊
    The system looks great!! The only change I would make is replacing the Chemtronics heat detectors with Apollo S65 heats so they match the Apollo S65 smokes (Gamewell 60As), not only because it would look nicer with them matching but it would be easier to install and maintain as all the detectors would be wired the same but of course you’d have to import them as I don’t think Gamewell ever rebranded the heat detectors; regardless, great system with a lot of thought put into the design of it!

    I'm glad to see you back, as one of my most favorite fire alarm channels, I think I should share my favorite videos from this channel.
    My favorite OLD system test videos from the late 2000's to early 2010's:
    "System test 21, Spectralerts" why you may ask? It's mainly because of that funny moment where you left the panel in continuous, which resulted in you saying: "LLLOOOUUUDDD!!!" (Because that's what Spectralerts were known for doing) those spectralert alarms were installed in my old elementary and middle school.
    "System test 25" why? After System test 24, we waited a year and a day for System test 25. I say it was worth the wait because of the speaker strobes!
    "System test 26.1" (Not sure why the "1" was there but ok) I liked this video because it somehow became your most popular video, plus I liked the selection of alarms you used.
    "System test 28, LOUDEST AND CRAZIEST SYSTEM TEST!" I liked this video because of the Simplex 40/30 you put in the basement, the thing was so loud that it ended up vibrating the floor upstairs, the most insane part of the video is when you put the System into continuous.
    "System test 29, the finale of the Alerteck 8005" I liked this video because the inclusion of bells and the finale of the 8005."
    My favorite NEW System test video:
    "New System test 1" I liked this video because of all the changes made into the system and the Simplex 4005.
    My favorite Mini System test video:
    "Mini System test 23" I liked this video because of the inclusion of the Notifier NFS320 addressable fire alarm control panel and showing off the different features it had like the fire suppression feature.
    The other videos that are my favorite:
    "A REAL FIRE ALARM",
    The sneak peak videos of upcoming System tests.
    That's about it!

    Do you still plan on doing system tests after you move in to your new house?

    • @TheCarson116
      @TheCarson116 2 года назад

      Probably not as even if his new house has a security system, he might just make one test video of it & that's it (since unlike his former fire alarm system setup the components wouldn't change thus making further test videos pointless).

      @@NewAgeServerAlarm So does that mean you will occasionally make system tests in a different House or not? I'm just wondering.

    Question, because I'd love to get one of these, can you change the toneout for the exit now duration? Like instead of the one sawtooth tone every second, it plays a square wave tone once every so often?

    • @EnderShadowborne

      Or is that solely based on the model panel you get?

      Don't call him a "legend." And definitely don't bring up Alertek. Andrew really hates being put on a pedestal, so I'd highly recommend you avoid calling him a legend and avoid mentioning Alertek (which you didn't but still), because it will more than likely remind him of his obsessed idiot days that he really isn't proud of.
