    I remember my dad buying one used in the late 2000s, coming home racing past the house at 70mph at 10k rpm in our residential area in race leathers was a sight to behold. He pulled into the driveway and redlined it. It was one of the many times in my youth that made me love street bikes/crotch rockets.

      I just bought an 03 rc51 for 800 bucks at an estate sale. It sat indoors for five years was dusty but great shape. I put new tires new fluids new battery cleaned fuel system out and it fired right up. Has 8200 miles on it. Was bought by an older guy new and he died and it sat in his wife’s garage since. Then she passed and her kids sold it to me.

    Man! This video makes me miss my 2006 RC51 so bad! Due to medical reasons, I had to sell it last year, but at least I had the opportunity to own my Dream Bike from October 2013-September 2017. After the PC III, new sprocket setup, and suspension setup to my weight, my RC51 was an animal and that sexy beast had such an amazing Vtwin sound, but I LOVED the cam gear whine and strange stares from people trying to figure out why it sounded like a lumpy muscle car! 😊 This bike is made for twisties! Thank you for the upload! 👍🏽

Kinda expensive though. So I did the next Best thing. Just came over from viewing your VFR video! I guess you could say you and I see eye to eye. I loved my 97 VFR750F with a passion and still wish I had it today, and it remains my favorite model in the long history of VFR line up changes. I guess it was a logical step when I laid out a pre-release payment on a 2000 RC51. Such a beautiful and soul stirring bike! Nearly 55,000 miles and almost 20 years later I still have it and have been coast to coast and North to South on it a number of times. I love it, will never sell it and still browse the internet for another VFR 750F...ah, dreams...

    • @razor1uk610
      @razor1uk610 5 лет назад +3

      93ish% correct, it does stop the fairing deforming in stange asymetrical ways (reducing a percentage of different, changing handling),
      ..and does take some of the additional loadings from the aerodynamics & suspension bouncing/wobbling harmonic resonances of the fairing and lights, away from effecting from the induction intake tubes own resonances.

    A VTR1000 SP2 being started and several car alarms going off in a nearby parking lot. Frikkin epic.
    It's literally the only V-twin I would want to own.

    • @BigRick50
      @BigRick50 6 лет назад +1

      I had a nicely set up one with a full Akra system, dyno 140hp. It would literally set off any car alarm within 50 mtrs of the bike. I would have a crowd of people cheer as I went past at full noise whenever I took it to the track. For a sport bike they were a slow steering heavy pig straight out of the box though.It had an amazing ability to retain control whilst completely spinning up the rear wheel, some tracks the rear wheel would completely break loose at 250 km/h under full throttle, but you could still steer it through a corner. The most fun I've ever had on a bike was that bike at Phillip Island. It was hella uncomfortable, and I had to spend about 30k on it to get it to go good.

    • @dannyhampton711
      @dannyhampton711 6 лет назад +1

      Richard Anderson first off I apologize for not knowing you , because anyone that can spool the rear wheel at that speed under full throttle deserves to be known! by the way is that a typo @ 30k or should that be 3k? I raced for ten years but in motocross and made top ten experts in Maryland and D.C. and street raced and drag raced at the track buy yet am still impressed at your claim!! Great riding! Be safe out there!

    I loved the idea of a v-twin sport bike so much I bought its watered down predecessor, the street friendly SuperHawk 996 back in it's intitial year, '97. I'm telling you with a carbon fiber TwoBrothers 2 into 2 full system the 996 v-twin sounds amazing. I just couldn't wait for the real duck killer to come out. I had to have this torque monster. I probably will buy a used RC51 also. I just love these v-twins and the RC51 did it exactly what it was built to do in it's very first year. Impressive is an understatement when speaking of the RC51.

    I love this bike! I had a 2004 "Nicky Hayden Edition" (RIP) with a Power Commander and Yoshimura dual exhaust. Ideling, it sounded like a helicopter. That high pitch whine from the gear driven cams sounded sick as well. The bike had no head shake and I got it up to 186 with some sprocket modification and cam two fuel. The front air induction was cool looking and with a K&N filter the bike just roared. The dual exhaust was also very unique as well. The only thing I didn't like, was the gas tank, which my forearms would hit if I was moving the bike slowly. The front brakes sounded like there were two stones grinding together when applied, it was a cool sound. Very rare bike and I regret selling it.

    I miss mine so much!!!!!! Yes, it was a bit heavy and cumbersome at low speeds but if you know what you’re doing and don’t mind putting a lil (cough) effort, the bike is very rewarding. Add a few upgrades like Sato rearsets, 1Krr Monobloc radial brake conversion, radiator defuser, spal fans, 15/41 sprockets, flapper delete, carbon fiber air box, a full exhaust, and a PCM, you’ll have very reliable everyday WSBK for the street. Ok, maybe more than just a few upgrades.

    The SP2 was a bike that I loved to hate after I rode it for the first time, it wasn't comfortable the clutch was heavy and the handling demanded respect, you had to respect this bike or it would shake you of its back like a wild horse. My friend insisted that I'll keep riding his bike while he rode my ZX9R and I started to understand and trust this bike in a way that I could never trust my ZX9R, suddenly this bike made sense, it was me who didn't understand it and I could never go back to my ZX9R after that, thanks for this video mate!

    Honda made the best looking sport bikes back in the early 2000s ive had many bikes over the years and the one i miss the most is my old 01 cbr929rr absolutely beautiful bike. Wanted a rc51 but they are so hard to find. I have a gsxr 750 now and even though its much newer than the 929 the 929 was miles ahead as far as quality and style go

    Love V motors in bikes. I have had a VFR400R NC24 and now have a VFR400R NC30 1991 model and a VFR800FI 2001 model. The V motors have plenty low down torque and makes it a real pleasure to ride. Only trouble I have had was the Rectifier on the 800. Both VFR's are in mint condition. Lots of bikers cant believe the condition of my NC30. Thank the Lord for Japanese Bikes. Tks for the Video.

    Behind me now in the shed is my SP1. Absolute cornering machine. I sent the bouncy stuff of to Kyle Racing for a proper work over. Changed the Bike immensely!
    Fast....176 with stock gearing, don't need to go that fast so I dropped a tooth in the front and added three in the rear.
    Will pull the front up around 50 quite easily, 60-70 on a cold day. But it's the sound it makes! The gear driven cams are astounding. As you said. It's not the fastest bike out there there from 2000
    But I've Never lost to a Hardley from a stop light or in a dig.
    Great Vid BTW!

    Dude, do one on the 80's VF Interceptors, that's the one that started everything down the path to where we are now with sport bikes.

      After working on the Woodstock 94' Fest, 7 days a week for 5 weeks, I bought myself an 84' VF1000f Intercepter. I loved that bike. It was a great sport touring platform. At over 500 lbs it soaked up the miles, and that big V-4 was always ready to take you into the Triple Digits!

    What's cool is back when I was in high school this was my dream bike... I recently purchased a 2001 vtr1000 at first I didn't know there was any similarities but now I'm seeing that there is which is pretty cool that I kind of got my old dream bike at least the PowerPlant anyways

    And as I recall Collin edwards and Rossi had raced the vtr1000 sp1, the first iteration of this bike in the suzuka 8hour race and after that gave input to Honda to help improve it they, improved on the swingarm as well as on the injectors adding extra injector ports to smoothen the throttle response out.

    When it first came out I went to the Dealer thinking I would trade in my 1 year old VFR but after sitting on it minutes I was in pain after years of injuries. Physically too small and crouched but still fantastic looking to this day. Opted for an Africa Twin instead. Honda, bring back the double round headlights, enough of the frowning face that all bikes seem to have now.

    Also when you watch the last races of sbk championships between collin edwards and troy baylis not certain it was him or fogerty. But that epic last race that was very close you could see the ducati was much more agile from side to side with its shorter wheel base and the vtr1000 sp2 took a bit more muscling into the corner with its longer wheel base but was much more stable and on rails through corners not unsettling once. Epic times, epic bikes. I like both manufacturers
