Very nice purchase, congratulations!! I also have a 2000 Honda RC51 I purchased when they first came out. She's still running 18 years later. I tell my friends that although it is 1000cc it was meant to run with the 750cc in line fours back in the day, so it's more like a 750. Also I really enjoyed your other video about the history of the RC51 as well. Thanks

I just bought an 06 RC51 in this same color way today, I'm so happy with it. And I felt the same way when I was able to get mine. I am a Honda fanatic, and I love my SV so this was the next possible step up.
You're on the right track my friend cuz you got your self a unique bike I still got mine and it's the best bike I drove ever enjoy it ..
My first bike was a Kawasaki 650R in 2009. I sold it the following summer and picked up a 2004 RC51. Have owned it ever since and will probably keep it until replacement parts are scarce enough that I can't keep it going. Absolutely love it!
Youve really inspired me to look at other bikes, now I'm on the edge of trading my RR for the 929. Looks just sooo good!

I grew up riding on the back of my Dad's 97' VFR 750, i can never get over the sound of gear driven cams, planning on getting an RC-51 of my own one day...
Had an 02 SP2. Amazing machine that I miss dearly to this day. Something about a Vtwin sport bike and that amazing power curve always sticks with me.
RC51 AKA VTR is a piece of art, period.
Vtr is the super hawk the RVT is the rc51 Sp1 , super hawk have same motor slightly detuned, still s bitchen bike
@@joshuacarpenter4850 It is VTR. Superhawk is VTR1000F which is carbureted, RC51 is VTR1000SP1/SP2 all fuel injected. Different engine.

I agree bro!! I'm the same I enjoy the early and mid 2000s bikes than the new ones because of the dedication and love the manufacturers put in making them. Not saying they dont now but it's more electronics and other stuff but personal preference. I own a 2006 zx10r but want to add a zx12r to my collection. I always liked the zx12r and I dont see them much at all in my area

Dude, that bike is awesome! Most young people don't even know what they are. It's plenty of power for track or street riding, who cares what others think, no need to justify. I'd love to have one, best of luck with it! Look forward to seeing you ride it!

I remember growing up my neighbor had one and he’s the reason I have such a love for motorcycles. Just standing outlast a little kid as he ripped up and down our block. It’s such a beautiful piece of machinery. Congratulations brother nice buy.

After seeing your video “Legendary Honda RC51” bought 2004 Nicky Haden Edition RC51, RC was well Taken care off and super clean it’s a blast to ride and the gear driven cams and the the exhaust tone just makes you want to ride!👍😍
Either a RC51 or a 94+CBR1000F (my 1st bike, got rid of it for a stupid reason) , only 1000cc I'd entertain, but always lusted after the legendary RC51
I ride an old 1984 V65 Magna. Love that bike but then I decided to get something a little newer that I can still get parts for. I wanted something as fast or faster than the Magna but was still comfortable to ride. I ended up with a 2002 CBR1100xx Blackbird. Just gotta love the understated character of the older bikes.

You’re definitely right about the head turning factor, many people ask what it is since it’s not as common, or if they’re in the know they lust after it. I love people’s confused reaction when they see my incoming RC51, a sportbike but sounds meaner than an inline 4.
Get factory mirrors for the RC. You'll be shocked at how clear & vibe free they are. Maybe the best sportbike mirrors I've ever used

I've been looking at them for the past month now for sale. I'm gonna buy one. I've been obsessed with them ever since I saw Nicky, Miguel and Joey race them. My buddy used to have a all red rc51 and cut the visor and put handlebars on it. I told him any other bike that would have been fine but not that bike.

The big girls run hot, they don't overheat but run very warm in traffic because of the radiator location. A flip switch for the cooling fans helps a lot.😇
If done correctly it doesn't interfere with the fans normal operation, but can be flipped on at a stoplight
I saw one for the first time, last weekend, and I was attracted to it like a moth to a light. Beautiful bike, the guy had a bunch of work and parts on it. Yeah, you're right, the RC51 is one of those special bikes out there

I picked up my 2000 rc51 for 2000$ like yourself I would of preferred a nicky hayden model as well but you get what you can find for the price you have.
I got a VTR Superhawk and love the thing!
Started with a RC36 back in '97, then when I bought a new CBR929RR I saw the VTR1000SP1, but it was too expensive.....last year I sold the blade and after all those years got me a '03 SP2. Amazing that I ride the (same :) )bike Dunlop, Haydan, Edwards, Slight and Rossi rode on!

Spent years riding i4’s and just bought an ‘01 51. Such a fun bike to ride and yes it definitely turns heads. Twin high mount Yoshi’s with that V-twin thump incline people to wonder wtf is that heading my way. Very special bike and I am very fortunate to own one.

Cash is king! You honestly are dealing with heaters for buying the RC51? That baffles me! Yes they are becoming collector's items give it a few more years and the prices will go up. I do think for those miles and that price you stole that bike and that's a good thing.

As I stated b4 when finally...lol..posted this purchase. Awesome find was an understatement. Your channel is one of my favorites. And I share same passion you do...motorcycles. I ride everyday, in fact riding now...in the dead of winter. Due to my somewhat recent purchase of a 2013 triumph tiger explorer. Also have a 04 dyna wide. If you ever decide to sell your 600...pls let me know.
Nice video👍 I bought a 2012 Ducati 1199 PANIGALE S and I sold it for this bike. I have a video of my upgrades on that bike on my channel. When I first drove the RC51 in 2002 in the Philippines I loved it instantly because of its unique torque power. The torque just got my attention from driving in line fours. Before getting the Panigale I purchased the Ducati 1198 in which had more torque than the RC 51 and the Panigale. After having issues with the 1198 I purchased the 1199 but unfortunately after a two years having the 1199 it was mostly visiting the shop rather than riding it so I sold it. I purchase the RC 51 and for some odd reason this bike is so old but I’ve never had any problems or issues. Again great video and review and great mods as well. I purchased the RC51 with a lot of mods from exhaust, blinkers and extra goodies and I bought it for $5000 cash. Keep up the videos and I will do the same on the bike this summer.
Funny thing i learned about ppl is those who cant afford something usually get it and suffer, whereas the ppl who can afford it usually make the rational decision and let it go. Lol.

Absolutely share your enthusiasm and like you, the only bike that tops the RC51 is an RC45 😎 I've got the third bike on my top list, the VTR1000F, I think it's known as the Superhawk in the US (Firestorm in the UK) I 100% love it!! I worked in bike sales for 9 years and have ridden hundreds of bikes ( including a £64,000 Fireblade) and the rider involvement and satisfaction of riding a VTR is what suits me best. You bought a 2006 for just $5,000?? That less than half what it would cost in the UK!! Enjoy 😍

First when I heard you bought rc51, I was disappointed because it wasn't a brand new bike. But, now, after watching your video, I'm convinced that rc51 is such a cool and unique bike worth same or even more than a brand new bike.

It's good to ride something a bit different from anyone else. That's one of the reasons i bought the gsx650f. Shame that Suzuki have now stopped producing them, but i do wish i had got one with a abs on it.
I totally agree with you on not needing a "New" bike, car, house... as used has a history. New, you need to find all the defects & have them fixed, if there is a fix. I even buy used computers, unless I build them myself. Well, I did buy three new laptops, but I would rather have a tower, do that is what I build... my last bile is a 2007 HD Sportster Custom C 1200cc, & the most comfortable bike I have had. I liked the 1997 KZ1000P for power & sound as it revved, 1970 CB350 for light weight, as was my '73 Yamaha RD-350 - only 300#'s - too much smoke & no electric start - & I feel you made the right decision. Before your video, I had not heard of the RC51, but it sounds cool & looks nice :-)

I was torn between the RC51 and the legendary last Tao Baba 954. I found a mint 954 with 5k miles in gunmetal grey for 3,500 cash. The RC51 is next. I will not buy a new liter bike ! I refuse !! Congrats on your awesome purchase. Nothing is like iconic bikes 🙌

I'm into the history of machines. I've owned every Japanese make, except for Honda (no reason, just worked out that way). Also owned Moto Guzzi's and currently Triumph. Anyway, when I see the RC51 I think of Joey Dunlop's last appearance, and win, at the IOMTT in 2000. I think of Colin Edwards in World Superbike. I think of...some great races and great years in motorcycle racing. It's a beautiful machine.
I just don't get why people in their rational mind would put all liter bikes in one group. There are tons of different engine types that will give different performance and feel, even though the displacement is the same. When people normally talk about liter bikes, they think of the inline 4 bikes with around 200 hp that are not necessary anywhere on the street, and the power only benefits the desire for a surplus of speed and acceleration. Those bikes I think are not necessary for the street, if all they offer over other bikes is peak power. However, something like the RC51 that has less hp but high torque, is a completely different kind of bike, and there is no reason why you would put such a bike in the same group as a CBR1000RR. Literbike is too broad a term for people to throw insult over. It's like saying 400cc bikes are boring and not powerful enough because they make you think of the Ninja 400 and RC390 etc - but in reality in that class you also have all the old Japanese 400cc inline 4 beasts that rev to 20k rpm and eats corners for breakfast. No matter what cc class you talk about, you simply can't generalize like that, and throw hate at others because you think all Liter bikes are the same.
This is the definition of stupidity. I am so happy for you that you could find an affordable RC51, it must be a blast! I am looking for one myself here in Italy where I study, but the only one in my area is listed at 7.000 Euro, or around 8.000 USD. I'm looking at Aprilia's RSV1000R instead, as they are more affordable here, but essentially belong to the same 1000cc V twin supersport category of the early 2000 era. Those bikes from that time were just something else :)
