    I love this technique. I first learned it at AMC Pankration from Matt Hume in 2004 and then I went back and watched Battlecade: extreme fighting 2 or 3 (whichever one Matt was fighting in)and they were interviewing Matt as a fighter.
    What they always do when anybody ever does Seattle is they show 1. Pike market (for the original Starbucks. And 2 the space needle. Then they showed a class going on in the background while they interviewed Matt and lo and behold; This was the technique being taught in the background circa 1997.
    I showed it to all my guys when I taught at Tapout Los Angeles in 2011 and they all cleaned out the novice division with this when they had about three months of training Particularly Ozzy Diaz in the heavyweight division.
    This is a great technique, and the follow ups are even better. There is a nice backtake from here that if you do it right and push his shoulder on the step over (from side control-To this technique-to mount-To the back) you will have a deep RNC as you lock up the body triangle.
    What is new is old and what is old is new. Love jiujistsu and catch. I’d call this technique catch because that’s what Matt called it and I don’t know if he invented it but he mastered it, and he called it a catch wrestling technique. Keep up the great content mang.

    I use this all the time, though that is a new set up for me. I get it when strikes are involved or often when someone tries to go deep half. It is actually more painful for them in side control than mount, so I will often keep it there if I am trying to finish directly. You can also pummel through and take their hips in the opposite direction and sometimes get a topside twister as a result. We call it the giftwrap or the orange crush. LOL

    This is so simple to beat, when you push the knee follow through your arm around their waist and get up, it's an easy sweep 100% success you will always be faster than there cross face attempt.

    • @johnnykage3903
      @johnnykage3903 7 месяцев назад +1

      Actually, the easiest way to beat this is instead of pushing his knee to get countered, use the same hand and as the footsteps over, grab the foot and push it along its current trajectory, and the guy on top will be spread out and you’ll end up on top if you push his foot into the air.
      Try it, that’s the easiest counter

    Problem with THEORY BASED MOVES IS a " good,experienced " fighter full of energy and body strength,,will do MORE ,and I emphasize the word MORE .....will do more then lie there and allow a person to do such choreographed moves on him...
    An experienced fighter will,buck his body,,grab clothing,,pull hair ,,twist ,,BITE!,,kick his knees up,,hammer fist,,you name it......
    So again,an EXPERIENCED fighter doesnt allow another person to DO MOVES on him,,BUT IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT such as a SPORTS COMPETITION, where there are rules to favor or benefit a fighter!,these moves,,,,could work in those conditions,,,,,,,just not in the street against AN EXPERIENCED FIGHTER......
