Traditional lapel grip and sleeve grip is taught in class, high collar grip is wonderful modification and it is legal. Some senseis teach the children and adults alike. That first ippon was not a good call. The second sneak attack ippon was solid but would have disqualified an adult. Kids judo had some loose rules but damn its fun

As long as they are having fun, for me no problem. But the sad thing is that there were kid that play Judo and having commatose after his instructor throw him a few times. Makes me sad... Judo for kids should be fun and game. And make them love the arts not hating it or make them comma.

If Joseki would have scored the first alleged throw an Ippon, then there would have been no second throw. Ippon wins the match. Share your insight. Not looking to argue; clarification is my goal.

I think so, too. I don't know the Judo rules. However, the referee's commands weren't clear to me. Whether he was stopping or starting the match. I can't be sure what the referee was telling the white belt: warning? Did he properly started the match? In kid's match, the referee should be crystal clear for kids to understand what's going on.
No 6 year old should ever have a blue belt. Reminds me of the karate and tkd “black belts” back in middle school that I used to smack around when I was an orange belt judoka

@@d.frankadams2360 you are absolutely right. There wasnt an outer reap, that would be needed for an god ippon seio Nage, because of the grip of the white belted child, im pretty shure he wanted to throw seio nage, but mixed it up with osoto- otoshi. For a gari there would be needed a leg swing.
@@Nick-nw3dn In dojo, the reap is clean and rehearsed. In competition, technique is always precise. The same can be said for kumi kata. Traditional lapel grip and sleeve grip is taught in class, high collar grip is wonderful modification and it is legal. Some senseis teach the children and adults alike. I'm not sure why I am applying energy to this. We have different views . I defer to your judgement.

That first ippon was not a good call. The second sneak attack ippon was solid but would have disqualified an adult. Kids judo had some loose rules but damn its fun

My daughter loved taking lessons in karate but she never could keep lessons due to financial difficulties. But she loved it
As long as they are having fun, for me no problem. But the sad thing is that there were kid that play Judo and having commatose after his instructor throw him a few times.
Makes me sad... Judo for kids should be fun and game. And make them love the arts not hating it or make them comma.

I think so, too. I don't know the Judo rules. However, the referee's commands weren't clear to me. Whether he was stopping or starting the match. I can't be sure what the referee was telling the white belt: warning? Did he properly started the match?
In kid's match, the referee should be crystal clear for kids to understand what's going on.

@@martiniversen4898 unfortunately there’s a lot of dojos out there that only correlate belts to money. $60 a pop per belt exam and the parents don’t feel like they’re getting ripped off cuz the child comes home happy thinking he’s fucking karate kid with his brown belt. It’s a shame
I think these colors were just wore for the purpose of the competition, they are not the colors of their level in karate.
