These are the conversations that we need to have as a society to be better. However, from this we need to take action. Thank you Penuel & Noxolo for this.
I agree, it's unfair to leave children to be raised by grandchildren. Children long for their bio parents or at least one bio parent. Oftentimes the grandparents don't want to let the kids go back to the parent when they are secure because they've grown to love the child but sometimes also because they fear the parent is still irresponsible
Our biggest opportunity is community. We have the numbers and the culture but unfortunately want to work in silos which makes any project an overwhelming task. I like the way Penuel broke down the plan and it made it more digestible than to just have a blanket dream of changing a space without actionable steps and research. We want to shine and be THAT GUY who did it or who’s the “face of” without getting our hands dirty. We also need to roll up our sleeves and sizenzele
I urge you to please invite SACPLAN ( South African Planners Association) to the platform to speak in depth about spatial injustice and the various attempts in terms of legislation that has been implemented we still have along way to go as a country.
we do not have a culture where there is the psychological safety to express your feelings. i raised abuse matters in the family and the responses from elders were "skaamte moet bedek word." meaning "shame must be covered/concealed/don't speak up or out on what happens." I also got told to never contact the family, "bly weg" and to never attend the family janazas [funerals] which is a sin in Islam - no one is ever allowed to be chased away from Islamic gatherings. but ya.
The child will forever be raised by the village. It's just a matter of how it raises a child even with the current children's rights and other stuff around a random person disciplining a any child in the village.
Hi guys, on the point of people not being educated i would like usisi uNoxolo to revisit her views, hopefully this statement does not become one of the barriers. in our country and globally there is a lot of people who are educated without being part of the "recognized" educational institutions. and most of them might be ready for a visionary to give direction.
South Africans that are privileged always view the world that way. Even though all research shows universal healthcare saves money & has better healcare outcomes. Same with free college for all. All that reduces crime, increases productivity
Please don't confuse yourself by interpreting wrongly what u call "All Research " .... Developed countries are deeply investing people taxes into health and education infrastructure, Their education investment is aligned with their supply and demands.... so their output is that universal healthcare that saves money , better health outcomes and education that reduce crime, increase productivity as you said🤷 WHEREAS our African leaders takes people taxes to invest in THEMSELVES .... In Africa we worship corruption and careerized it....look no further in your "ALL Research" .... take example with South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland etc....The worst scenario is (Zimbabwe) millions and millions Zimbabwean are flocking to corrupted SA for healthcare services and we are not allowed to say it because we will be labeled Xenophobic. Privileged South Africans are not to be blamed for their views because they can afford well serviced private hospitals and well serviced private education....BLAME your African leaders who are failing exams with memorandum in their hands... Mr Sidogi
Loved this interview. Related to the wanting to change where you come from but working all alone and feeling hopeless. Thank you Penuel. Thank you Nixolo.
15:51 “Clearly it’s a black issue”… No it’s not a ‘black’ issue it’s a poverty issue, people who live in lower income/economy communities have an unfortunate tendency to believe they are underserving of efficiency because of where they come from In South Africa we just attach the issues to blackness because a majority of lower income people are black but it’s not a black issue it’s circumstantial
Very concerning how very few intelligent/smart women we have and those very few are hardly on social media. Our daughters are exposed to nonsense on social media, very wrong so called role model

Thank you guys for unpacking these nuggets of wisdom , you are helping build families which are the foundation of society.💯
One of the best convos. I’ve never have so many comments watching a RUclips video, I didn’t comment but i have so many.
I wish most young adults have your thinking. ❤

It's up to us to fight and change these broken lifestyles we've inherited.
My father and mother are never wrong, theres no point reasoning with them.
I hear you! Very loud and clear. I can relate with this. What a darn shame.
As long as you've tried your best and can have peace that you tried.
And commit to be different with your own kids.
Sbonge 🙌🏾
The concept of a child raised by a village is not sustainable these days
Is it not time that we changed that? Today we pay for a "village" in the form of nannies, school teachers, etc... when we can build more organic ones.
Why not?
