    my issue with the makita is that the interlocking clips are just hard to deal with and very out of date. I simply opted for Festool with the T-loc.

      These are my least favourite boxes. I see though Makita is planning a packout style system. Let's hope they ditch the old clips and start a fresh

      @@bodgeitwithbrian Bosch is also releasing a similar packout system using Dremel color scheme. The neat thing about it is that they integrated the L-BOXX system where you can set it on top. As of now, I am happy with my Milwaukee, Flex and Toughbuilt system. Don't think I am going to invest on another system *fingers crossed*

      I happened upon 15 l-boxx's so I've been using those and fitting them out with ply inserts, but it does feel odd to me to put Makita tools in bish boxes. A third party box manufacturer would be better for me I think

      Yes I was thinking of getting iracks. I see there are some better priced pack out alternatives out now which some nice features. I really need something with draws. I just wish Makita and others would drop their boxes and go l-boxx. Hahaha and for everyone to have a standard battery. I don't want much do I

    DeWalt appear to have the best stacking systems. Both have options to wheel to site and drawer systems that allow access when stacked. Toughsystem if you want large boxes, a racking system for workshop or van and lower price point than the Packout system. Not so many choices as Packout but do you need them all? Or the even cheaper Tstak for smaller boxes that are not so heavy to carry when fully loaded, but it doesn't have a racking system. Strong positive metal over-centre latches that are far easier to open than the L-Boxx clips you struggled to open in your video. Be interested to know which system you settled on Brian?

    I like the Makita boxes. They're cheap so I can get a lot more of them for my money and even have a spare or two if I break one. I mostly use them for tools I have to take away from home but being stacking means they take up less space but are a bit of a pain if you need the tool that's at the bottom of the stack.

    Like all other tool storage systems, these are fatally flawed. Boxes are stacked bottom to lid, removing access. Stack them front to back, then lowering the trolley means that they all can open. Fit drawers in the side, not the front, and they are all available too. Gives more options for mixing lids and drawers. Join is stronger, not relying on the lid to take the weight of the box. Why is this not obvious?

      @bodgeitwithbrian  5 лет назад +2

      I'd like to see more of an open standard between them all and for that matter a single battery interface. Great comment, thanks

      @@bodgeitwithbrian Me too! I am not sure how many people actually use stacked containers. Trying to compare systems I suddenly realized I had never needed to do this- the most I need are two boxes, and that is one in each hand. You see walls of boxes in videos, but I bet most never leave the workshop. And boxes, stacked or shelved, are the worst form of tool storage. (pegboard best, drawer second). I have come to the conclusion that boxes are for the tools you do not use, not the ones you do...

      @bodgeitwithbrian  2 года назад

      Yes I agree, the Makita offering is poor. I've had another look at sortimo because over time I've picked a number Bosch tools and other manufacturers, wago, Fischer ect and they all clip together. I've just picked up some w-boxx sorters which are comparable. I kind of like the openness and wish Makita would take this route. Nothings perfect

      @bodgeitwithbrian  5 лет назад

      Now I have had time to research I now see the Sortimo L-Boxx in a new light. My issue is the Packout is a great option but I'm starting to see that Sortimo sell their boxes to a lot of other tool makers other than Bosch. I've started to like the idea of buying different tools in L-boxx's and that they will all stack together. I feel there rearly should be some sort of open standard and at a better price point. Sortimo might be it for me and I didn't think I was that guy. Anyone else have thoughts?

    I've got numerous bosch lboxx cases including portaled which has a led panel built in. In the beginning i liked the xbox's because they are stackable and also (stupidly) because they looked the part as i have bosch tools. Only after long term ownership is when flaws become apparent. They're expensive. Flimsy, cannot be used to stand on, have to be perfectly aligned in order for the click system to work, cannot be used as a support surface (e.g using two boxes to lay a sheet of wood onto) because the click system latch fins are raised. The same fins are weak as are the grab handles.
    Will now be buying the much much stronger cases by KETER just like the pro system by RIDGID.

      @bodgeitwithbrian  5 лет назад

      Interesting comments. I see that festool have some cases you can use as a bench. Not familiar with the letter range, what is it about them you like?

      @@bodgeitwithbrian I've not used or had any of the festool cases. Recently bought the Magnusson cases as they are identical to the Ridgid make. They were cheaper than the Bosch lboxx and so much more higher, better build quality. The small case is slightly bigger than the Bosch 136 lboxx and it's around the same price. I'm sticking with Bosch tools but the lboxx are of my list indefinitely.
