The first I ever heard of New Brighton was a beautiful song by the band It's Immaterial the place name was the song title. Vocalist John Campbell originally from Manchester went to college in Liverpool and never left. He said the song was not his own experience but a feeling he got there. Now from your video and sharing your experiences I can see what I heard in the song a sense of sadness and loss of a town and times gone by. It's very moving Paul ⭐
Bloody hell, I've not been to New Biff for about 30 years, not sure I would recognise the place nowadays. Used to go there all the time as a kid, sagging off school in Liverpool, getting the ferry and the bus there and going to the indoor arcade. Great video, lots of good memories of that place. It was bleak back then but it was ours y'know?
We used to get the ferryboat over from Liverpool on bank holidays, in the 1960s, when I was a child. Loved being on the boats. I remember a covered amusement arcade, a huge place. I remember seeing a bus made up to look like a ferryboat, which amazed me! Also the thrill of the different coloured buses in the Wirral. We went one last time after the ferries stopped. It wasn't the same. Fort Perch Rock, a huge amusement arcade. Remember hearing that dredging the Mersey had taken away New Brighton beach.
Thank you Paul , that was very interesting, a shame most of it is all gone now .

Glad you enjoyed it
