    Great job guys, following the channel from Kansas. We too are Airstreamers, 30RBQ Classic. Hated to hear Joe's BBQ in KC was closed when you came through, we just ate there yesterday, my favorite BBQ in KC!

      What. A. BUMMER!!! All’s well that ends well but of all the places that should absolutely be open on Father’s Day! We seem to always eat well in KC. We will be back through in August! We should all meet up for some BBQ!

    I just discovered your videos yesterday and I’m playing catch-up watching all the videos since you bought the Airstream. Love your honesty on the good/bad of them. We would love to start traveling with an Airstream. We have two small dogs and they mean the world to us. When you leave your dogs in the trailer, do you have any monitoring device to make sure the temp doesn’t get too hot? I’m interested as we want to travel with our little guys too. So glad I found your channel. I love traveling along with you all!

    • @lifebetweentheditches1307

      Thank you! There are a few options for monitoring temps when away from your rv. Waggle Pet Monitor is a great choice! It is definitely a concern! I will say when the temps get scary hot (like they tend to do lately) we just don’t leave them unless it’s a quick jaunt to the store. The Airstream gets very hot very fast and Silas is old and has a double coat. Normal hot weather, as long as we are within a 30-45 minute drive from them, we are fine leaving them. Mostly, we try to avoid those dangerous temps but sometimes they just can’t be avoided.

    Your trailer weight is fine and you have capacity to run with a full water tank if need be. That KOA was practically empty.

    I noticed the truck has that new- fangled half latch feature on the tailgate. Is it actually useful? Do you ever use it? I mean, really?

    • @lifebetweentheditches1307
      @lifebetweentheditches1307  Год назад +1

      ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! We wondered if it would just be more of a gimmick feature when we bought it but we use it consistently. It allows you to reach much further into the truck without having to drop the full tailgate and it makes climbing in the truck much easier.

    I think you may be overweight on the AS. If you have a 30' Gobtrotter, the base weight is 6990 lbs + 975 lbs for payload for a total of 7965 lbs.

    Curious about how you feel towing trailer versus 5th wheel.

    • @lifebetweentheditches1307
      @lifebetweentheditches1307  Год назад

      We keep forgetting it is back there. We actually worried about this because towing a fifth wheel is so easy but the aerodynamic design is definitely not overhyped. We keep thinking our truck must be thinking, “this is easy”!

  • @charlesb4267

    I don't recall the weight of your fifth wheel but this trailer must be quite a bit lighter and certainly have less wind resistance ( fifth wheels are like a sail ) , so I assume given some miles to test the fuel mileage that it should be noticeably better ?. I have not had a chance to watch some of your later videos and I see now that you answered this very question a few videos ago and my suspicion was correct, its a lot easier towing rig when it comes to fuel usage.

    • @lifebetweentheditches1307
      @lifebetweentheditches1307  Год назад +1

      We never had trouble towing our fifth wheels but we were definitely aware it was back there on steep grades (up and down). We really can’t feel the trailer back there anymore. That part has not disappointed!

    Hi!! New subber here🙋‍♀️🇨🇦❤️‼️ You had me at BC😂Do youse all know about BoondockersWelcome? Its a great option for an overnighter, we really enjoy it and it pays for itself in 2 stops! (Aka compared to a campground fee) and you meet amazing people!!! We are hosts too and really like the peeps we meet. We offer wifi, parking for 4 rigs ur size, 30 amp, water, and a free sanidump 2 blocks away! For $5/night. We travelled 33 USA States and used a bunch of BW, and still keep in touch with people! We just bought our custom build Taylor Coach 17ft travel trailer last year, and love having Exactly what we want! And even with 42 gallons of water, we are about 3300lbs fully loaded. Hope you enjoy BC, we just moved from Vancouver Island to the Badlands of Alberta🌵🤠🦖🙋‍♀️🛻🇨🇦❤️‼️

      Oh, wow!!! Thank you so much. We are SO excited to visit the island but it seems that Alberta always remains at the top of our list. It is extraordinary! We do use BW and we WILL look you up next time we are there. We used Harvest Host for the first time in 2019 and have really loved those alternative options (when the weather cooperates)! Thanks for coming along!!
