As a specialized icu nurse and former paramedic I’d say make this your boo-boo kit and keep it in you vehicle and carry a more specialized ifak with two chest seals for entry and exit wounds, your quick clot gauze or just packing gauze. With some gloves and alcohol wipes and keep atleast one tourniquet on your vest for quick acces and in case you need to quickly self applicate.
I’m a Agent in my state I carry a small Bleed control kit on me with everything I need for TECC also a EMR so I have to say I cringed when he showed the my medic kit 😩 I carry two of olaes,NAR ETD, NPA, chest seals vented and non vented, wound pack gauze, combat gauze. Needle D for ALS guys if I have to assist or seriously injured my self. (Also for temp boo boo’s I keep conforming gauze, cravats , 4x4, 4x9, 2x2, quick clot 4x4, and quick clot sponges) all within my Hrt maxim placard
Volunteer medic + highschool student here as well. In my honest opinion, what he is carrying does not make sense tactically and in terms of occupation he is apparently in. 1. Not enough basic trauma life support supplies (Compressed gauze, dressings, small cpr mask is what I consider a "BLS" trauma kit). 2. While MyMedic does a cool job with their packaging. I don't think it's at all appropriate solution for high stress environments, not only are those more packages to open, having things like nitrile glove in packs, carrying electrolyte, blister pack and ointments don't make much sense since A. You can have a much bigger kit in the car with all that stuff, have more room for life saving devices and B. Your primary focus is not first aid as a officer, I'd say 99% the time EMS will arrive very shortly with more advanced interventions to treat the patient. I myself carry 2 Narcan nasal spray (Naloxone hydrochloride 4mg) and/or 3 0.4mg IM naloxone doses with VanishPoint syringes (safer for off-duty use), Hyfin vented chest seals, NAR Cat Gen 7, NAR compressed gauze (just because they are standard issue), basic airway kit (nasopharyngeal airway), maybe pocket bvm depending on my pouch size, maybe couple bandages and gauze pads. I dislike carrying non-life support supplies because A. I'm usually near a commercial building where they have well put together first aid kit which will 100% exceed the contents of any "small kit". B. EMS only takes couple minutes to arrive. He should really consider what he is putting in his kit and how easily they are accessed by one hand and his non-dominant hand.
I agree the chest seal is good and I know he has a TQ on his belt but he has no shears or any hemostatic gauze or gauze at all. Definitely a good boo boo kit but not the best trauma pack especially in a position where he or a squad member may be shot
I'd switch that out for a "blowout kit" "bleed control kit" or an "ifak". I keep a regular first aid kit in the car, but the tourniquet, pair of chest seals, and Israeli bandage gotta be quick and easy to access with both hands
I would imagine that’s way more clutter for minor wounds than you would want in an actual med kit. Take out all the bandaids, burn relief, blister pack, electorates, add in a tourniquet, move the other heavy duty bleed stoppers to the front.
This safety measure deserves 100 % first priority. I sincerely appreciate it and thank you for spreading awareness relating to medicine 💊💊💉 to cope up with emergency situations
*taking notes* big plus it is compact. I would just replace the boo boo bandaids with mini compression bandage and a space blanket to prevent shock. I keep my boo boo kit separate so I can access stuff quickly without rummaging.
Narcan (or Naloxone Hydrochloride - Narcotic Antagonist) may lose effectiveness when stored at higher temperatures (stored for 4+ weeks, consistently above 40C). I've been carrying my Intramuscular and Intranasal variations with me pretty much every single day (If you reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. You know exactly why one would carry it every day). It's not really recommended to carry them on person, especially in black bags/carry cases. Most law enforcement I've spoken to keeps them in the trunk of their vehicle or in glove box (stored inside a protective case that is bright in colour). As for tourniquet, I've seen him show his NAR Gen 7 before, but in the video he mentions RATS tourniquet (which **I** do not recommend for law enforcement or any first responders). - C.A (Highschool student, Volunteer Medic, Lower Mainland, British Columbia). Try to buy a surgical kit. You may encounter cartels which have loads and I mean LOADS of firearms and they can fire at one of your limbs and they may get broken. And just in case if a hospital is far away, you can perform surgery on your arm(s) or leg(s)
This is just a booboo kit. Where is your packing gauze, chest seals, tourniquet, etc. you should have more in that pack if you are a cop and carry it with you.
This kit is better than nothing and I realize this is probably just a sales or sponsorship video… but man these pre made kits are way to expensive when you can build your own for half the cost or less and have more items like number one you need a TQ in there and one for on your body. A second chest seal. We can keep going but you get my point.
Most important thing not shown here is having a TQ or 2 especially on the range. Then you can go crazy with the chest seals and hemostats and all that, as long as you train with them and know how to use them when you need em
Yall... this is sponsored content. Stop giving him tips on what to carry like this is his actual EDC. Its just an ad for the MyFaK or MyFak mini or something either way it's just an ad for My Medic products and what comes in one of those kits. I'd be surprised if this was actually what he carries. Hence why he said "this is everything I have in THIS SPECIFIC med kit. This med kit is by my medic. Go check em out"
Buddy, you need to carry a CoTCCC-recommended tourniquet and you'll be set. However, I'll echo some of the other comments. Relegate this to being the "boo-boo" kit and get a real trauma kit. At least it has hemostatic gauze and a chest seal, but you can carry better stuff than just that pack. This pack is great as a starter pack or layman user, not so much for professionals and first responders.
Tampons!! Edit: I said tampons before I saw what he had but he actually filled his Ifak with a boo-boo kit😂 only 2 trauma items out of that whole kit💀 one chest seal what if the bullet comes out the back of the body? Where’s the Israeli bandages, Gauze, decompression needle, nasal airway tube, cpr mouth mask, 3M medical tape, more quikclot and more chest seals! Dude really has more bandages than anything else I’d be pissed if i was deploying with him!
That's not a proper IFAK you are missing scissors, tourniquet, an exit wound chest seal, decompression needle, nasopharyngeal, wound packing gauze, dressings, bandage tape.
Absolute garbage med kit. All of this stuff minus the chest seals and maybe the quick clock cuz it looks like a tiny little amount of quick clock. They need to be in a boo-boo kit in your truck in your car. If you're running an actual medical kit on your ear for a case of gunshot wounds and iPhones or other serious injuries, you have no tourniquet you have no rolled or compressed gauze, you know have no pressure bandages. Zero actual stuff to deal with a real situation
