Payday 3 feels like both a step forward, and a step back. Whilst the heist complexity and perks are certainly a lot more intresting that 2, the weapon customisation falls kinda flat. But I've talked about 3 at length before to many people, and certainly don't want to bore you with my mediocre opinions. The real thing I want to take away from this video is what you said near the end. With my newly growing audience, I felt like I SHOULD make more videos, that I SHOULD work on the next video that may pop off and get a thousand views. But... I'll be honest, sometimes I don't enjoy making them, be it the video itself or the process of editing and writing up a script, and because of that, I've scrapped like... 3 videos this year, all of which I put hours of work into, only to give up at the end. And with what you said, it sounded obvious, but it opened my eyes, and I'll thank you for that. I hope 2024 treats you well, Miss Riddick. And good luck on whatever happens next!
No Rest For The Wicked, after playing the hell out of PD3 since launch, is the WORST map. Progress made in stealth is completely lost if it goes loud, all of the heist specific favors are garbage, its unnecessarily difficult on very hard or overkill loud (like harder than almost any other map) because there is no real good exfil method on loud, not even if you use the heist favor to have the van not leave, so you are super exposed on a wide open street. The implementation of the Zipline is trash. It is the worst heist in game. I also agree wholeheartedly that the weapon mods make little sense, not only because the graphs can be hard to tell what improvements if any are occurring, but because the mods that are "best", aren't the ones unlocked last.
Even then, this video is only relevant up to Syntax Error and does not include Operation Medic Bag. Part of me wants to take a more formal crack at this but also that'd just be me typecasting myself all over again at this point.
@@E3kHatena Don't worry about reviewing Op. Medic Bag, basically the devs celebrated adding a unready button like it was the greatest achievement of all time. Also Payday 2's newest update, 240.3, added a whole slew of undocumented changes so now there's literally no stops in cop spawns, there are so many cops that the game can't even run sometimes. If you intimidate a cop with others doing the same the game crashes. Yeah. Fun stuff.
Bewilderingly, hacking back in the developer mode settings lets you use a PD2-style Crimenet window and even host a heist over LAN or offline, though they award no EXP or money given they were for things like demo builds or Do Time to Get Time.
@@E3kHatena which again, is a willing choice they made to accept it. A choice I firmly disagree with, and would not make in their place, even if it meant struggling to make budget or even worse struggling to keep the studio afloat. Some things are a matter of principle.
As a veteran across 3 platforms this was my last chance with Overkill/Starbreeze and their antics. I look forward to 'Den of Wolves' coming from the original creator of Payday 2. Whoever is left at Starbreeze clearly can't hold the line or a flame to the one's who don't work there anymore that made PD2 great. Just living off the name at this point trying to fool everyone.
It's very much a game I _might_ pick up in a few years time :/ As it stands right now it's interesting but it's not capturing my imagination and i can't see myself playing it for more than a couple of hours and just dropping it This video was very informative thank you for making it :O
PD3 is weird, like it has good aspects like lots of actually decent and unique heists, and the perk system that I personally think is pretty ok. And then you've got the bad aspects like the pre-patch challenge system, and the ungodly bad weapon customization (by the way, you can also modify the colour of your guns, but the colours are locked behind levels with the actually decent colour locked to level 100+. As well, some colours just straight up look exactly the same as each other.) I think PD3 needed like another few months in the oven before it would've been in a better state, but at least with the patches, the game might actually end up being solid. Also, fantastic video!
I do think the current post-patch heist XP system doesn't really solve that much, because it gives out notably less XP than most of the challenges and it's a binary thing, so now you either speedrun all bags on a short stealthable heist a bunch of times for a pittance of XP... or go back to grinding out challenges for more reward while still being unable to see what challenges you could do mid-mission or even track specific ones.
Payday 3 is such a meh game, I have no doubt that they're going to do their best to make it as good as possible but yeah I can't really recommend this either. I was excited for this game but was let down by a buggy launch and a flawed progression system. That and no game chat just made this a game I didn't see fit to even have installed on my ps5. There's just so many other games and things you could do that's more worth it than payday 3. Maybe wait and just keep an eye out for videos on payday 3 updates that's what i've done lol

For me the fact it's always online was the deal-breaker on day one. I straight refuse to support them or the game without an offline mode.
